Abstract: This invention comprises an improved electroporation electrode system comprising a single needle and a ring or donut shaped electrode wherein the difference in surface area of the electrodes provide for a substantial reduction of current density near the surface of the treated tissue and a more concentrated current density sufficient for electroporation only in tissues adjacent to the terminal portion of the single needle electrode. Thus, this invention provides for targeting specific tissue for electroporation and also should provide for lessening the sensation of electric current in the treated tissue.

Abstract: Methods and devices for performing ablation using time multiplexed waveforms are disclosed. The increased efficacy of monophasic waveforms is combined with the reduced side effects of biphasic waveforms by distributing components of the waveform across over a broader time interval than that typically used in a conventional biphasic waveform. Charge balancing occurs upon completion of therapy delivery within a time period that avoids muscle stimulation, while allowing unbalanced waveforms to be delivered during stimulation.

Abstract: The energy harvesting module is provided with a pendular unit comprising an inertial mass coupled to an elastic piezoelectric beam providing a power voltage. An acceleration sensor provides a signal representative of the instantaneous acceleration of the beam in a direction perpendicular to a surface of the beam, and an angular speed sensor provides a signal representative of the instantaneous angular speed of rotation of the beam about an axis perpendicular to a plane of bending of the beam. Based on the voltage, acceleration and angular speed values, a beam integrity monitoring circuit estimates parameters of a mechanical-electrical transfer function and derives therefrom metrics representative of physical and electrical parameters of the pendular unit and of the material of the beam. This makes it possible to evaluate the proper operation of the energy harvester and to detect a potential performance decrease liable to lead to a failure in the more or less short term.

Abstract: Described herein are implantable devices configured to emit an electrical pulse. An exemplary implantable device includes an ultrasonic transducer configured to receive ultrasonic waves that power the implantable device and encode a trigger signal; a first electrode and a second electrode configured to be in electrical communication with a tissue and emit an electrical pulse to the tissue in response to the trigger signal; and an integrated circuit comprising an energy storage circuit. Also described are systems that include one or more implantable device and an interrogator configured to operate the one or more implantable devices. Further described is a closed loop system that includes a first device configured to detect a signal, an interrogator configured to emit a trigger signal in response to the detected signal, and an implantable device configured to emit an electrical pulse in response to receiving the trigger signal.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process and apparatus to preclude unfiltered atmospheric gases and the products of human respiration including carbon-dioxide (CO2) with carbon-14 (14C) from contaminating greenhouse atmospheric gases which has utility in growing agricultural products with a reduced abundance of 14C. Agricultural products with reduced 14C content can be grown in greenhouses with filtered atmospheric gases for the benefit of reducing harmful damage to human DNA. Agricultural production in greenhouses still requires humans to plant, maintain, and harvest crops in many cases. This invention provides a means for humans to access, work, and operate in these controlled environments without contaminating the atmospheric gases and agricultural products therein with respiration products and unfiltered atmospheric gases containing radioactive 14C.

Abstract: A novel mask comprises a mask body and two ear loop attachments attached on a left side and a right side of the mask body. The mask body comprises a filtration layer and two fibrous layers laminated together. The filtration layer comprises multiple fibers with diameter at a range of 50 to 800 nm. The fibrous layer comprises multiple fibers with diameter at a range of 0.5 ?m to 8.0 ?m. The diameters of the fibers of the fibrous layer are greater than the diameter of the fibers of the filtration layer. When using the present invention, two ear loop attachments are extended around ears of the wearer. The mask body hence covers the nose and the mouth of the wearer. As the wearer inhaling and exhaling air, the air will pass through the fibrous layers and filtration layer of the mask body. Particles or pollutions carried by the air will be blocked and retained by the fibrous layer.
