Abstract: A cardiovascular detection system and method, comprising an active compression cuff contracting at a frequency higher than the systolic frequency of the heart. Meanwhile, the detection device is used to capture the influence of the active compression cuff and cardiac systole on the blood of the part to be detected. In addition, it is supplemented by electrocardiography to monitor the reference value of cardiac systole to distinguish the difference between the pulse wave generated by the active compression cuff and the pulse wave generated by the heart. In this way, the state of the cardiovascular system can be quickly understood. Since the active compression cuff is contracted at a frequency higher than the systolic frequency of the heart, it can be more accurately determined whether the blood vessel is blocked or hardened.

Abstract: The devices and methods generally relate to vibratable sensors for measuring ambient fluid pressure, in particular implantable sensors. The devices and methods are suited to implantation within the body to monitor physiological conditions, such as portal and/or hepatic venous blood pressure, and allow frequent, remote interrogation of venous pressure. The sensor devices are relatively small compared to conventional devices for measuring fluid pressure and can be implanted in the portohepatic venous system, whereas conventional devices are too large. The small size of the device is accomplished by using a thick sensor membrane, compared to conventional devices, and by limiting the size of additional elements of the device relative to the size of the sensor membrane. The thicker sensor member also obviates the need for multiple sensor arrays and maintains the accuracy and robustness of the sensor device. A data capture, processing, and display system provides a pressure measurement reading.

This probed volume inside said re-entrant cavity contains more arterial and less venous blood, when compared with measurements made by perpendicular beams, that penetrate deep under the skin, which causes that the measurements made by our device are more accurate than many existing oximeters.

Abstract: Alveolar dead space of a subject is determined by measuring an end tidal partial pressure of carbon dioxide during a sequence of normal breaths of the subject and, during a sequence of deep breaths by the subject, delivering a first volume of a first gas to the subject over a first portion of each inspiration by the subject. The first volume is less than or equal to an expected alveolar volume of the subject when the subject is breathing normally. A second volume of a second gas is delivered to the subject over a second portion of each inspiration. The second gas includes a neutral gas. An end tidal partial pressure of carbon dioxide is measured during the sequence of deep breaths. The alveolar dead space is computed using the end tidal partial pressures of carbon dioxide measured during the sequence of normal breaths and the sequence of deep breaths.
