Patent number: 6408785Abstract: A wetting device for the mat (10) of a carrier material comprises a grasping frame which is constituted by side ledges (101, 102, 104), whereby the mat to be coated (10) can be fixed by clamps (105) to the side ledges. At least one of the side ledges of the frame is configured flexible (bendable), since it preferably comprises several segments (101, 102) which are hinged together. Thus, the clamped mat (10) can be brought into a cylindrical configuration in which it can be coated by a spray device which is introduced into the inner space of the cylinder. Due to the subsequent bending of the flexible side ledge in the opposite direction, the mat (10) can be brought into a second cylindrical configuration for which its other upper surface constitutes the inner side of the cylinder and is thus available for being coated by the spray device. During the spraying operation, the cylinder axis is preferably orientated vertically in order to avoid non-homogeneities of the coating because of the gravitation.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2000Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Heidel GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6406742Abstract: A coating apparatus for forming a high-resistance film on the inner surface of the neck of the funnel of a cathode ray tube has a nozzle that can be inserted into the neck. The nozzle, which is provided for applying a material liquid to the inner surface of the neck, has a jet hole inclined toward the direction of gravity. The material liquid applied through the jet hole thus inclined scarcely flows upwardly on the inner surface of the neck. The liquid therefore forms a high-resistance film having a uniform thickness on the inner surface of the neck of the funnel. Having a uniform thickness, the high-resistance film inhibits the charge-up of the neck potential, reducing the convergence drift caused by the charge-up of the neck potential.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1998Date of Patent: June 18, 2002Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Takahiro Hasegawa, Shigeru Sugawara, Fumihito Suzuki, Fumio Miyanaga, Katsumi Yaha

Publication number: 20010022995Abstract: The invention provides a method and an apparatus for thermally coating the cylinder barrels of a cylinder block of a combustion engine. During the coating operation, air flows through the cylinder bore whose barrel is to be coated with a flow velocity of between 7 m/s and 12 m/s. This air flow is generated by means of extraction, whereby the air is extracted from the bottom of the cylinder bore through the crank case of the cylinder block. For extracting the air, a plurality of extraction collars are provided that are connected to an extraction fan and are moved from the bottom through the crankcase to the lower end of the cylinder bores. During the coating operation, the pressure of the air flowing through extraction conduits to the extraction fan is measured and the value of the velocity of the air flow through the cylinder bore is calculated. An adjustment mechanism controls air chokes in the air conduits in response to the calculated flow velocity present in the cylinder bores.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2001Publication date: September 20, 2001Inventor: Silvano Keller

Patent number: 6176927Abstract: A coating apparatus with a spray head is provided for coating can bodies internally. The spray head is supplied with coating material through a feed line which passes through the seam welding machine for the container bodies. The combined spray and extraction head is also connected to a suction line which extracts excess coating material which has not been deposited on the internal walls of the container bodies, and returns it through the welding machine. In this way, the escape of coating material between the individual can bodies can largely be avoided, thus reducing contamination of equipment.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1997Date of Patent: January 23, 2001Assignee: Elpatronic AGInventors: Hans-Jörg Nussbaumer, Guido Huber, Felix Walser
