With Housing Surrounding Or Engaging Coating Means Patents (Class 118/64)
  • Patent number: 4096300
Abstract: A portable automated coating plant is formed in sections that are transported individually to various work sites and the sections are assembled in end-to-end relationship for progressively cleaning and coating steel members, or the like. The members are passed in sequence through a shot blast machine a coating system, and a dryer.

  • Patent number: 4075974
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a uniform film on a planar surface of a planar support, particularly for forming thermoplastic films on conductive support members, comprises a drivable turntable having means for removably locating the planar support and having a distributor, mounted for rotation with it, a housing enclosing the turntable and the support, and a dispenser, located in the housing for delivering a charge of fluent material to the distributor. The distributor is arranged to distribute fluent material radially outwardly onto the planar surface of the planar support, and has at least one portion extending axially from the turntable. The dispensing means is located with its outlet over the distributor.

  • Patent number: 4068617
Abstract: An apparatus for coating wire tire cord on a spool with a substance for increasing the bond between the wire tire cord and rubber material used in the production of tires. The apparatus is composed of a hollow pipe which forms a chamber in which the spools of wire are coated. The pipe is inclined from the horizontal and is provided with a longitudinally extending trackway on which spools of wire can roll, by gravity, axially through the pipe and treatment chamber. Means are provided for circulating liquid coating through the chamber and for alternately creating a vacuum and pressure within the chamber to increase penetration of the liquid coating into the interstices between segments of cord wrapped on the spool. Other means are supplied for circulating a drying fluid in the chamber to dry the liquid coating on the wire of each spool disposed within the treatment chamber.

  • Patent number: 4043292
Abstract: Method and apparatus for staining biological specimens by forming a film of staining reagents on the surface of the specimen containing slide. Heating means raises the temperature of the staining reagents on the slide. The temperature of the reagent film is determined, and a feedback signal to the heating means accurately maintains the temperature of the film within a predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 4016829
Abstract: In order to eliminate non-uniformity in the temperature within the plane of a substrate that causes dispersions or variations in the characteristics of a grown layer during liquid phase epitaxial growth and to produce a grown layer having uniform characteristics, an apparatus for crystal growth according to the invention holds a substrate on a jig so that a flat surface of the substrate is arranged tangentially to an isothermal plane within the jig and aslant with respect to any position perpendicular or parallel to the axis or the center plane of the jig. Where a multiplicity of substrates are set, they are held on at least two flat surfaces which are tangential to an identical isothermal plane and which have different slopes.

  • Patent number: 4015558
Abstract: Multi-layer coating apparatus and system for coating a substrate having a coating chamber and means for advancing the substrate in a horizontal position through the coating chamber. The coating chamber is provided with means for depositing the coating on the bottom side of the substrate as it is advanced through the chamber. Means is provided for preventing one substrate from bumping into another and for providing a predetermined spacing from the substrates as they are advanced through the coating chamber.

  • Patent number: 4013038
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the temperature of an open liquid body when actual measurement of that temperature is not possible. A thermal analog of the liquid body, which is exposed to the same heating or cooling source as the liquid body, is incorporated into a sensor which provides controlling feedback to the heating or cooling source. The sensor, which is disposed in the atmosphere which surrounds or flows by the liquid body, includes a dry element and a wet wick, body of which are in thermal contact with a temperature sensing element. The dry element senses the temperature of the atmosphere and the wet wick has a cooling effect on the sensing element that is related to the rate of evaporation of liquid from the body. This sensor is advantageously employed in a system for regulating the temperature of a reagent film on a microscope slide.

  • Patent number: 4001854
Abstract: A machine for processing image-wise exposed light sensitive plates comprises processing rollers for agitating developer liquid in contact with the plate as the plate passes through the machine. The plate is urged into contact with the rollers by a plate member which is preferably adjustable and provided with recesses and preferably the developer applied to the plate is filtered developer and is applied by spraying. After developer has been removed, the plate is urged into contact with a roller, dipped in desensitizing solution, by means of, for example, a preferably adjustable second plate member. The desensitized developed plate is then dried before leaving the machine.
