  • Patent number: 5862741
Abstract: An indoor and outdoor smokeless grill comprising a housing which contains at least two openings, one at the bottom and one at the top. The housing consists of a water tank, which is situated between the openings of the housing. The housing is situated on a heat source such as a stove, whereby the hot air that rises from the burner of the stove will bypass the tank and will cook the meat that is situated on a grill that is disposed on top of the housing. When fat from the meat melts, the fat will drip into the water tank, such that fat will not drip on the heat source, thus grilling the meat while avoiding the smoke that results from the burning of the fat.

  • Patent number: 5842463
Abstract: Portable camp stove, wherein solid-fuel, especially of dried tree and bush twigs, is burned upon a supporting fuel grate positioned at bottom of a combustion-chamber. Solid-fuel is added directly into the combustion-chamber during operation through alligned stoke holes in a chimney and a vented-fire-ring, and then dropped vertically downward through an exhaust vent. Air for primary combustion is drawn into the combustion-chamber through a ring of intake apertures adjacent to and above the stove's bottom plate. Stove's outer wall is spaced apart from the wall of the combustion-chamber and the two walls are joined together and sealed by a top plate, creating an adjacent confining airspace. Air enters into said airspace through a ring of secondary air intake apertures in stove's outer-wall, where it is heated by thermal communication, as heat emitted from combusting solid-fuel passes through the combustion-chamber wall.

  • Patent number: 5615666
Abstract: A device for concentrating and conserving a fuel source in a cooking appliance is provided. The cooking appliance has a fuel supporting surface, an appliance side wall about the fuel supporting surface and a cooking surface supported substantially between the side wall and above the fuel supporting surface. The cooking surface receives food items to be cooked. The device comprises a free-standing fuel concentrating apparatus supported solely upon the fuel supporting surface for selectively concentrating the fuel source beneath at least a portion of the cooking surface. The concentrating apparatus creates a plurality of fuel enclosures such that loading at least two of the fuel enclosures and the ignition and combustion of the fuel source within one of these loaded fuel enclosures saves ignition and combustion of the fuel source located within any adjacent fuel source area.

  • Patent number: 5605142
Abstract: A barbecue adapted for portability and being gas-fired. A parallel smoker plate assembly intermediate a gas burner and a cooking plane enhances heat transfer to provide even cooking heat across the entire cooking area. Each of two parallel plates in the smoker plate assembly have offset aperture patterns that facilitate the transfer of heat while preventing the accumulation of liquids from any food in the combustion chamber. A burner assembly with an open-ended tube receives fuel from a pressurized gas bottle having a regulator and discharge tube that readily connects to a detaches from one end of the barbecue. When detached, the gas bottle, regulator and discharge tube stow readily within the barbecue. Integral, pivotal leg structures lying within the combustion chamber shift between stowed positions where they are positioned interiorly of the exterior surface of a barbecue and supporting positions where they stably support the barbecue on a surface.

  • Patent number: 5575197
Abstract: The present invention provides a modular roasting pan having a jointer. A plurality of the disclosed roasting pans may be joined together side by side. In each pan, there is formed a liquid collecting basin having a deep guide segment and a shallow guide segment on opposing sides of the pan. The liquid collecting basin is defined between a raised roasting block and a sidewall structure. On the segments of the sidewall extending transverse to the deep guide segment of the basin are formed joint slots. An elongate tongue is formed on the sidewall segment extending along the shallow guide segment of the basin. On the ends of the tongue are formed two stoppers for inserting engagement with the joint slots of another pan. Two or more pans are joined together by first inserting the tongue of one pan into a joint slot of another, then sliding the first pan relative to the second pan until the two stoppers of the first pan are both inserted into respective joint slots of the second pan.

  • Patent number: 5566606
Abstract: A barbecue grill has a bottom casting formed with a flange portion along its periphery. The flange portion extends up at an angle between approximately thirty and forty-five degrees from a cooking grate so that grease produced while cooking may be directed into the bottom casting, through an aperture in the bottom casting, and into a grease collection cup. The grease collection cup is mounted to the bottom casting in a manner which permits the tilting of the cup relative to the bottom casting. The periphery of the bottom casting is formed with an upstanding tongue which is received within a groove formed in a hood of the barbecue grill. The groove defines an inner leg for directing grease into the grill and an outer leg for directing water away from the inside of the grill.
