  • Patent number: 10064583
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for monitoring and evaluating data associated with ventilatory parameters to detect expiratory airflow limitation in a ventilated patient. For example, a ventilator may monitor flow and/or pressure during ventilation of the patient. Based on the flow and/or pressure measurements, or ventilatory data derived therefrom, the ventilator may calculate expiratory resistance. Moreover, the ventilator may trend expiratory resistance over time to produce an expiratory resistance waveform. In embodiments, the ventilator may calculate the slope of the expiratory resistance waveform during an initial part of exhalation. If the slope of the expiratory resistance waveform during the initial part of exhalation breaches a defined slope threshold, the ventilator may determine that the patient exhibits expiratory airflow limitation.

Abstract: A computer-implemented mental and emotional life efficacy development system and method are disclosed which assist lay individuals to measure and improve their mental health and emotional capabilities and life skill deficits to increase the individual's ability to achieve life efficacy. A scoring subsystem measures competencies or deficits in a breadth of critical life skills. The system provides feedback concerning personality traits and mental and emotional deficits and compares the user's scores to the scores of those who are successfully navigating a particular life step. This pinpoints deficits for which the user can receive training and treatment tailored to that user's personality and individual difficulties. Through the collection and aggregating of such symptoms, a preliminary diagnosis is made of the user's mental health and life skills. This diagnosis is subsequently refined before it is used to offer emotion and/or mental health care treatment and life skills training for life efficacy competency.

  • Patent number: 9681824
Abstract: An implantable device with in vivo functionality, where the functionality of the device is negatively affected by ROS typically associated with inflammation reaction as well as chronic foreign body response as a result of tissue injury, is at least partially surrounded by a protective material, structure, and/or a coating that prevents damage to the device from any inflammation reactions. The protective material, structure, and/or coating is a biocompatible metal, preferably silver, platinum, palladium, gold, manganese, or alloys or oxides thereof that decomposes reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as hydrogen peroxide, and prevents ROS from oxidizing molecules on the surface of or within the device. The protective material, structure, and/or coating thereby prevents ROS from degrading the in vivo functionality of the implantable device.

  • Patent number: 9652710
Abstract: A method for recording the number of sterilizations of a piece for a medical device. The piece can be a motor and/or a handpiece. The piece includes a temperature sensor and/or a pressure sensor and/or a humidity sensor and/or an angular position. The method includes the following steps: inserting the piece into the sterilization camber; detecting the sterilization based on the temperature and/or the pressure and/or the humidity and/or the angular position in which the handpiece is received in the sterilization chamber by the temperature sensor and/or the pressure sensor (102) and/or the humidity sensor and/or the angular position sensor. This solution allows recording of the number of sterilizations of a handpiece and/or a motor for a medical device, in particular for a dental device.

Abstract: An example method includes determining a depth map of at least one static surface of a building, where the depth map includes a plurality of surface contours. The method further includes receiving sensor data from one or more sensors on a robotic device that is located in the building. The method also includes determining a plurality of respective distances between the robotic device and a plurality of respective detected points on the at least one static surface of the building. The method additionally includes identifying at least one surface contour that includes the plurality of respective detected points. The method further includes determining a position of the robotic device in the building that aligns the at least one identified surface contour with at least one corresponding surface contour in the depth map.
