  • Patent number: 4044724
Abstract: A powder-dispensing brush head comprises a body having first and second angularly related faces, a plurality of bristles distributed over the first face and a passageway extending through the body from an inlet at the second face towards an outlet at the first face of the body. The passageway, as considered from its inlet to its outlet is unidirectional and inclined towards the first face, and the body is provided with at least one coupling formation for connection of the brush head to a flexible-walled container with the mouth of the latter in registry with the inlet. • Patent number: 4034201
Abstract: An appliance or device for treating hair includes a tubular barrel containing a generator for heat and vapor and a plurality of hair winding mandrels which are selectively slidably mounted over the tubular barrel. The mandrels have different external sizes and configurations, but have interior structures which, though they may differ, allow each mandrel to be used with the same tubular barrel. In one embodiment, the vapor and heat are conveyed from the tubular barrel to the exterior surfaces of the mandrels to treat hair by fins which form ducts within the mandrels that extend radially inwardly toward the tubular barrel. There are apertures both in the mandrels and the tubular barrel with which the ducts register to convey the vapor. Pivoted to each mandrel by means of a sliding pivot is a clip having a clamping portion for initially engaging hair before the hair is wound around the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 3960154
Abstract: A hair grooming composition is provided which consists essentially of about 5-15% by volume of bees wax and about 95-85% by volume of paraffin wax. The composition is preferably in the form of a reinforced body which resists damage or breakage when applying to the hair. An instrument for grooming the hair having a handle, such as a hair brush or comb, is also provided wherein a coherent body of the hair grooming composition is applied to the handle. The handle is grasped by the hand when grooming the hair with the instrument thereby warming the composition prior to applying a thin coating thereof to the hair. A method of grooming the hair is also provided which employs the hair grooming composition and/or instrument of the invention.

  • Patent number: 3960160
Abstract: A hair treatment appliance is disclosed that is capable of multi-faceted operation in the care and treatment of human hair. A body is provided having generally a hollow compartment therein to receive an aerosol container. A slot in a wall of the compartment permits a dispensing valve of the aerosol container residing thereat to dispense contents of the container therethrough. A comb is secured to an end of the body and extends outwardly therefrom, while at the opposite end, hair lifters, which are a plurality of spaced apart elongated members, are optionally provided. A cap is generally provided adjacent one end of the hollow body and acts as a closure for the hollow compartment that receives the aerosol container. The aerosol container is actuated by a pivotal lever secured to the body on the opposite side of the slot. One or more of the appliances may further be utilized with a central conditioner aerosol supply instead of a single aerosol container.
