Including Relatively Movable Hair Fastener Attached To Form Or Mandrel Patents (Class 132/254)
  • Patent number: 10004938
Abstract: Elevating rims allow the central hub of a back roller to be elevated from the ground. Elevating the back roller allows the user to increase their flexibility as they bend their back over the central roller. A user can purchase one or a set of rims to interchange the back roller and rims to accommodate different stretching and exercises. The joining mechanism can be threaded coupling in one or both of the hubs or can be a telescoping connection with or without a spring-loaded pin in a hole. The rims can have ribs to allow an installer to grip the rim and twist the rim on an axle. The back roller can be fabricated with an internal thread where changeable rims can be threaded into the inner diameter of the back roller to change the amount of elevation.

Abstract: A removable hair clip for a hair iron, which is used to hold the hair on a heating barrel of the hair iron when setting the hair and is configured to form a removable structure suitable for removably installing the hair clip on the heating barrel, so a user can use the hair iron with or without the hair clip, thereby avoiding an unnecessary interference of the hair clip with the hair. The removable hair clip that is installed on the heating barrel so as to be resiliently rotated relative to the barrel includes: a cylindrical holder having an opening removably installed around the heating barrel and rotatably installing the hair clip on the heating barrel; and a locking unit provided on the holder so as to removably install the holder on the heating barrel, thereby controlling a removable installation of the hair clip on the heating barrel.

Abstract: A hair curler system is formed of unique hair rollers that are stored in a hair curler station. In one aspect, the hair rollers are at least partially conical in shape. The conically-shaped rollers broaden the ability of the rollers to curl and style the hair over non-conical rollers. The conically-shaped hot rollers also provide curl and wave dimension to the hair. The hair curler station is adapted to selectively control heating of the curlers or clips that secure curlers to hair.

  • Patent number: 6363946
Abstract: A variety of longitudinally adjustable permanent wave rods are disclosed. Each permanent wave rod has an outer rod into which an inner rod fits. In one embodiment, an adjustable permanent wave rod has a number of sockets into which retainers fit. Alternatively, clips may be used to firmly hold hair between the clips and the inner and outer rods of the permanent wave rods. Preferably, the wave rods contain a distribution mechanism that distributes permanent solution towards the inside surface of the wave rods and also slows the solution down. Most preferably, the inner rod has a tapered surface along a substantial portion of its length and the outer rod has a tapered surface near the inner rod. Additionally, when the inner rod is tapered, a retractable ring is used that has extension couplings on it.

Abstract: A hair roller is provided with an hollow outer member enclosing an inner member. A plurality of hair clips is connected to the inner member by flexible roots and connected to the outer member by integral pivot axes. The hair clips extend though longitudinal openings in the outer member. Longitudinal movement of the inner member relative to the outer member, thereby causes the hair clips to either grip or release a user's hair when the user's hair is wound upon the outer member. Also provided is detent mechanism that allow the inner member to be restricted in gripping and released positions.

  • Patent number: 5881740
Abstract: A curler and a method of use for curling hair, e.g., the synthetic hair of a doll. The curler has an elongated rod, an elongated pressure applicator, and pivotable connector enabling the rod to be pivoted from an open position wherein it is located spaced from the pressure applicator to a closed position wherein it is located closely parallel to the pressure applicator. The rod is of very small diameter arranged to have a hank of the hair of the doll wrapped in a tight spiral about it. The pressure applicator is an elongated member having a hair engaging surface formed of a compressible resilient foam which, when the rod is in the closed position, applies pressure to the portion of the hank of hair disposed between it and said rod. This action causes the hair to take a curl without the necessity of the application of heat thereto. The curler also includes a catch member for releasable holding the rod in the closed position. The curler can be formed of plastic, metal or a combination of both.

  • Patent number: 5215107
Abstract: The curler has a generally cylindrical body provided with a rib that winds helically from one end to the opposite end of the body to define a recessed guide channel within which a gathered strand of hair is received when the curler is placed in use. An elastic retaining band stretches from one end of the curler across and against the outermost ridges of the adjacent convolutions of the rib so as to trap the hair strand within the recessed guide channel so as to prevent damaging pressure contact between the retaining band and the strand. In order to apply the curler to the hair strand, the strand is initially pulled generally taut and is wrapped for at least one full convolution onto a rib-free, smooth portion adjacent one end of the curler so as to overlap the free outer end of the strand and keep it from coming loose after the strand has been fully applied to the curler.

  • Patent number: 5076299
Abstract: A bobbin or spool type hair curler having a cylindrical hair roller portion formed between a pair of opposing parallel flanges and provided with a pliable, integrally formed, cup-shaped closure member. The closure member is axially aligned to one of the end flanges of the spool shaped hair roller portion. The wall of the cup-shaped closure member extends away from the spool shaped portion and, after the hair is wound upon the spool shaped portion, the wall may be flipped substantially 180.degree. about its point of attachment to its corresponding flange in order to place the rim of the cup-shaped closure member proximate to the other flange to thereby retain the hair around the spool shaped portion. The invention additionally includes a method for curling hair with the aforementioned device and, in one embodiment the hair curler is provided with an axial throughbore and the invention further includes a method for heating same.

  • Patent number: 4884583
Abstract: A hair roller and a curler rotating device which has a motor (24) and batteries (28) housing within a body (20). The motor shaft (26) penetrates the body at one end and has a tapered mandrel (34) attached that connects to a tapered bore (40) on the roller (36) allowing a removable connection. The curler (38) further has a clip (48) for holding the end of a lock of hair to start the rolling procedure. A clamp (56) holds the hair in place when the rotating device has finished the rolling process and rotates freely within the roller body. A second embodiment contains a slipable sleeve (58) and motor driven gear (70) in place of the mandrel and tapered bore that limits the torque of the motor to a predetermined value. This precludes pulling of ones hair when rotation is completed, overcoming previous attempts to solve the problem of excessive motor power.
