Abstract: A fire hose coupling comprises a body having a first end connected to a fire hose and a second end having either male or female threads or, alternatively, a quarter-turn sexless coupler. The fire hose coupling comprises a recessed portion formed in an outer surface of the body. The recessed portion is shaped to define a visuotactile directional indicator such as an arrow. The recessed portion may include a light-reflecting surface to enhance visibility such as a super reflective metal film, a photo luminescent coating, or a phosfluorescent coating. The recessed directional indicator may be formed in female, male or sexless (Storz) couplings. Since the light-reflecting directional indicator is recessed, it will not cause the hose assembly to snag or catch when the hose is dragged through a burning structure, nor will the directional indicator abrade or wear over time. This coupling enables firefighters to readily determine the exit direction when operating in dark and smoky conditions.

Abstract: Disclosed is a pipe joint restraint system for restraining two coupled pipe ends or a pipe end and at least one fitting. The device is used in conjunction with a hubless coupling or a No-Hub® coupling designed for drainage and sewer pipes of no pressure or low pressure. At least two adjustable circumferential bands with an abrasive grit material adhesively attached to the interior contact portion of the bands are situated one on each side of the hubless coupling, and are fixedly joined by a plurality of spread restrictor braces. The spread restrictor braces contain 45 degree upward bends to create a space between the adjustable circumferential bands and the pipe for the coupling which serve to prevent separation of the pipe connection under pressure conditions. The pipe joint restraint assembly may be tightened by a fastener assembly containing fully threaded bolts, a barrel nut, and a trunnion.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a filtration system having one or more apparatuses for filtering gases, liquids, or fluids (e.g., water) to remove particulate matter, and methods of making and using the apparatus. More particularly, embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods for applying centrifugal force(s) to push a fluid or gas to be filtered through a porous membrane or filter within the apparatus to separate particulate matter therefrom. The present invention takes advantage of the Coriolis effect within a cylindrical filter radiating out from a rotating central body. The filtration apparatus provides an energy efficient system for microfiltration (or other filtration process) to remove contaminants from gases and fluids, such as waste water.

Abstract: System and methods for collecting, storing, and redistributing water, which systems and methods make use of building foundations and surface concrete slab structures. A variety of rainwater collectors are anticipated, including rooftop collection systems (e.g., gutters) and ground surface covering structures (driveways, sidewalks, parking lots, and patios). These collection systems are joined together in a collection conduit system that carries the rainwater to one or more rainwater containment vessels. The stored water may then be redistributed, again through a variety of distribution means, to address part or all of the landscape watering requirements of the property. The system takes advantage of standard foundation and slab construction techniques to establish a major portion of the structure required for the containment vessel.

Abstract: A maintenance and hygiene method and apparatus (50) for a motor vehicle air conditioning system (30) with a cooling circuit (20?). The apparatus comprises a regeneration device (56) and a hygiene device (57) that are integrated in a single body (51) which includes, furthermore, a program means (55) that contemporaneously actuates and controls the regeneration device (56) and the hygiene device (57). The maintenance and hygiene program that is resident in the memory of the microprocessor (55) is then started by an operator. In particular, the hygiene step is carried out contemporaneously with the step of recovering the cooling fluid and with the engine on, and is prolonged up to a lubricating fluid discharging step/establishing vacuum condition step.

Abstract: A method according to this invention employs a set of valves, a series of pressure checks, and a physical stop for verifying the closing of a locking system of a cylindrical passageway. The method may also employ an equalization piping. The valves isolate a tapping machine, a pipeline, and the equalization piping from one another so that product cannot flow from one to the other. The valves are then opened as a series of pressure checks are performed. A completion plug is then lowered into the passageway until the plug comes to rest within the passageway and is oriented so that a locking ring of the plug is in a filly expanded position. The expanded position is then confirmed by raising the plug until its upward travel is restricted. The plug is then released and pressure above the plug is reduced to 0 psi gauge.

Abstract: Abstract A flow means for cutting off/opening a flow of liquids or gases as well as for routing said flow, of the type that includes a body component that is manufacturable by injection molding and that is formed with a flow passage through it and has at least one sharp edge, circumferential along said flow passage. Wherein the flow means is characterized by that it includes in addition, a flow smoothening means formed as an insert that can be affixed to the flow means body component. The flow smoothening means is formed with a rounded surface that when affixing the flow smoothening means to the body component of the flow means, it integrates with the flow passage and converts the sharp edge into a rounded corner that contributes to smoothing said flow, reducing the tempest like effect of the flow and substantially preventing turbulence and generation of whirlpools.
