  • Patent number: 9562349
Abstract: A removable trap for lavatory sinks is provided to enable new technologies to be incorporated into just the water trap portion of the sink trap to maximize the performance of the trap in infection control, while at the same time preserving the trap performance features demanded by major building codes. While a traditional P-trap requires the removal of the entire trap for cleaning or replacement, the removable trap presented in this application allows for easy removal of just the U-bend portion of the trap. The U-bend containing the water is the most vulnerable to attack to cleaning chemicals as well as the most effective locus of innovation in materials and methods employed to reduce infectious bacteria forming biofilms within the lavatory trap.

  • Patent number: 9027171
Abstract: The invention provides a flush free drain trap system. The trap of the invention may be used in any trap system intended to block a back flow of odors from the waste line. A sealant liquid floats on top of the waste liquid in the trap to block odors. The trap uses one passageway to pass liquids to the sewer line, similarly to a conventional drain system, for preventing overflow and allowing cleaning. A second passageway allows the trap to dispose of small amounts of the waste liquid though an opening and a valve operated by the buoyancy caused by the accumulation of waste liquid in the trap. In normal use, waste liquid is passed to the sewer line without loss of sealant liquid. Furthermore, the performance of the trap is not affected by the evaporation of the waste liquid when the trap is unused.

Abstract: An access system for a pressure controlled environment is disclosed and described. The system can include a pressurized region having a first fluid. The pressurized region can be defined, at least partially, by a barrier separating the pressurized region from a lower pressure region. The system can also include a trap fluidly coupling the pressurized region and the lower pressure region through at least a portion of the barrier. The trap can have a second fluid forming a seal to prevent the first fluid from escaping the pressurized region. Additionally, the system can include at least one cable extending through the trap and the barrier into the pressurized region.

  • Patent number: 7806955
Abstract: A gas-liquid separation system and a method thereof are disclosed. The said system comprises a gas-liquid separation conduit and a drain pipe. The drain pipe is curled and one side of the drain pipe connects to the gas-liquid separation conduit and the other side connects to a sewage pipe. According to the U-Tube principle, the gas and the liquid which both are exhausted by a machinery can be separated in the said system and therefore the said system can prevent related processes causing exhaust piping jam.

  • Patent number: 6845527
Abstract: An in-the-wall plumbing trap having integral connections for waste and vent lines wherein in the vent connection is located on the top of the trap housing and the waste connection on the bottom thereof. A substantially vertical wall formed by an overflow member separates the housing interior into two chambers with a liquid seal chamber located beneath a waste intake line and a separation chamber disposed on the other side of the overflow member. Effluent waste entering the liquid seal chamber builds up until reaching the top of the overflow member where it then spills over into the separation chamber and any gases contained therein rise to the top of the housing and escape through the vent line as the fluid flows to the bottom of the separation chamber and exits through the drain pipe.

  • Patent number: 6779553
Abstract: An emergency backflow system includes a drain bowl and a holding tank fluidically connected to a utility sewer line. The holding tank is connected to the sewer line via a drain line, and the drain line can be fluidically separated from the drain bowl by a conduit having a float ball therein. The holding tank has a large capacity relative to the drain bowl and thus can accommodate large overflow situations which would otherwise overwhelm the drain bowl.

  • Publication number: 20020000246
Abstract: The suction-type siphon has a channel which runs from an inlet opening to an outlet opening and has a bend for receiving sealing water. After the said bend, as seen in the direction of flow, the channel has a depression causing the formation of a sump which constricts the channel for the passage of air. The constriction by means of the sump makes filling possible with little water, but does not impede the passage of solid objects. A urinal having the suction-type siphon according to the invention can be flushed with little flushing water, for example, less than one liter of water.

  • Patent number: 6279601
Abstract: A seal assembly that provides a means for establishing multiple pressure zones within a system. The seal assembly combines a plate extending from the inner wall of a housing or inner enclosure that intersects with and is immersed in the fluid contained in a well formed in a tray contained within the enclosure. The fluid is a low vapor pressure oil, chemically inert and oxidation resistant. The use of a fluid as the sealing component provides a seal that is self-healing and mechanically robust not subject to normal mechanical wear, breakage, and formation of cracks or pinholes and decouples external mechanical vibrations from internal structural members.
