    Abstract: A metal sheet is provided. The metal sheet includes a substrate having two faces, each face hot dip coated with a metal coating of zinc, aluminum and magnesium. The metal coatings include between 0.1 and 20 wt % of aluminum and 0.1 and 10 wt % of magnesium. Layers of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide are formed on outer surfaces of the metal coatings. The layers are altered by applying an acid solution on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings or by applying mechanical forces using a roller leveler, a brushing device, or a shot-blasting device on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings. The metal sheet also includes a layer of oil deposited directly on the outer surfaces of the metal coatings.

The amines in fatty acid amine salt might also include other polyamines, such as butanediamine pentamethylenediamine, spermidine, spermine, propylene diamine and propylene polyamines. The fatty acid esters might also include fatty acid ethyl ester, fatty acid glycerol ester and fatty acid trimethylolpropane ester. The carbon numbers of the fatty acids used to make the components in the lubricant blend may range from C4 to C28.

This phosphating solution, which may optionally contain one or more of calcium, nickel, cobalt, and copper cations and simple and complex fluorine-containing anions, makes it possible to lower the temperature of the treatment solution, reduce the amount of sludge, improve the quality of the coating film, and allow single-liquid type replenishment to be used. Preferably the surface to be phosphated is immersed in the phosphating solution, maintained at a temperature of 35 to 80° C., for 2 to 20 minutes.

The method produces an improved zinc coated sheet product having a tightly formed lubricated coating structure resistant to galling in the die steels of a forming press. The improved zinc coated sheet product having a lubricated zinc oxalate film improves formability and reduces the coefficient of friction during the forming operations that shape the zinc coated steel sheet or strip into a finished product shape.
