Abstract: The object of the present invention is a manufacturing process for a roller composed of a metal core covered by an elastomer coating and having an axis of symmetry, this process involving a first winding of a first non-vulcanized elastomer sheet onto the core, a vulcanization. This process is characterized in that it involves at least one stage consisting of doing a complementary winding, following the first winding and preceding vulcanization, winding at least one second sheet of non-vulcanized elastomer, the first sheet and the one or more second sheets being such that the hardnesses obtained after vulcanization are different. The object of the invention is also the monolithic elastomer roller with a heterogeneous hardness obtained by this process. Application to the making of rollers for sealed heads of textile thread processing machines.

Abstract: A method for making a protective device for protecting at least one carbon nanotube film is disclosed. At least one carbon nanotube film is pulled or drawn out from at least one carbon nanotube array. The carbon nanotube film has a first end connected to the carbon nanotube array and a second end opposite to the first end. A portion of the carbon nanotube film from the second end and a portion of a protecting film from one end are stacked on a portion of a base film along a length direction of the base film. Two rollers and a first spool are rotated so that the base film, the carbon nanotube film, and the protecting film pass through the two rollers while being pressed by the two rollers and rolled onto the first spool.

Abstract: A masking tape for use in applications where a coating material is applied to a surface for defining a sharp edge of the portion of the surface that is coated. A masking tape may include a reinforcing strip releasably attached to the non-adhesive side of conventional masking tape comprising a substrate with an adhesive layer on one side. The reinforcing strip extends longitudinally along the length of the substrate with one edge substantially aligned with, and preferably flush with, one longitudinal edge of the substrate and acts as a separate means to cut through a coating or film more efficiently than the masking tape alone, while subsequently leaving the masking tape in place until the preferred time of removal.

Abstract: An innovative method of thermoplastic electrofusion welding uses a novel compressible dual resin thermoplastic welding rod. This welding rod comprises an inner core made of a soft first thermoplastic resin, a resistance wire wrapped around the inner core, and an outer coating surrounding the inner core and wire. The outer coating is made of a second thermoplastic resin that is harder than the first thermoplastic resin of the inner core. The first thermoplastic may be made of thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV). The second thermoplastic resin may be made of a high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Because of its compressibility, this dual resin electrofusion welding rod greatly facilitates the seating of parts that are to be welded together.
