Abstract: A method of embossing an absorbent web with a machine direction undulatory structure is described. The web has a plurality of ridges extending in its machine direction occurring at a frequency, F, across the web and the method includes providing the web to an embossing station where the web is embossed between a first and second embossing roll, each of which rolls may be provided with a plurality of embossing elements configured to define a plurality of embossing nips. At least a portion of the embossing nips are substantially oriented in a cross-machine direction with respect to the web and have a cross direction length, L. The product F×L is from about 0.1 to about 5.

  • Patent number: 6547915
Abstract: A method of producing a creep resistant composite elastic material wherein an elastic fibrous web is bonded to at least one gatherable layer to form a composite elastic material is provided. By passing the composite elastic material into a nip formed between an anvil calender roller and a point un-bonded calender roller, wherein the point un-bonded calender roller has recessed areas in the surface of said roller, a material which is creep resistant, dimensionally stable, and has inherent latency, is formed.

  • Patent number: 6540864
Abstract: In a method for making a shoe, an insole blank having a peripheral portion is prepared. An outsole which has an adhesive applied to the top thereof is positioned in a mold assembly including at least two opposite side mold parts that have forming patterns for forming the peripheral portion of the insole blank. The insole blank is placed in the mold assembly adjacent to the top of the outsole while the insole blank is being softened by heat to a plastic state. The insole blank is pressed against and is bonded to the outsole, and the peripheral portion of the insole blank is pressed and patterned via the side mold parts. The bonding of the insole blank and the outsole and the patterning of the peripheral portion of the insole blank are carried out simultaneously by closing the mold assembly.

  • Patent number: 6537407
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a composite laminate which includes a thermoplastic film laminated to a substrate. The front surface of the film has a regular embossed pattern of protrusions which have a height in the range of 0.5 to 10 microns and a separation in the range 20 to 400 microns. The rear surface of the film confronts and is bonded to the substrate. The manufacturing process of the composite includes the steps of applying a layer of a melt adhesive between the rear surface of the film having a regular embossed pattern on its front surface and the substrate to form a composite, and running the composite of the film, the layer and the substrate between nip rollers to apply pressure to the composite whilst the adhesive is in a heated condition, so as to effect thermal lamination of the film to the substrate.

Abstract: A self-adhesive strap structure facilitating patterned mark formation is disclosed. The blanket face of the blanket portion is first formed and the blanket face having needle-like top mold is placed into the mold. A high-pressure ejection-molding step is used to provide plastic material to the rear side of the blanket face for fusion so that the plastic board body is formed as one unit with the rear side of the blanket face so as to provide best strength. The plastic board body is to be formed with a specific patterned mark so that the self-adhesive strap that formed can be designed with a mark for recognization.
