Abstract: A method for pre-forming adhesive films before applying such films to curved and/or irregular shapes inside an aircraft. Adhesive film blanks with antimicrobial properties are pre-formed using a contoured manufacturing mold. The adhesive film blank has been created to match the shape of the airline interior component to which such adhesive film will be applied. The adhesive film blank is pre-formed by placing it in the contoured manufacturing mold, applying heat for a specified time and at a specified pressure. After being pre-formed in the manufacturing mold, the pre-formed adhesive film is applied to a specific interior component. Commercial aircraft interior components may include, but are not limited to, items such as overhead stowage bins, sidewall panels, ceiling panels, monuments, lavatories, closets, handles, tray tables, galley surfaces, and any other appropriate high touch interior surfaces that benefit from application of a pre-formed adhesive film.
Abstract: A ball glove engineered with exposed edge stitching, as opposed to turned leather, whereby the front (palm) and back are joined with one another in the same orientation as they are die cut. The resulting mating of front and back without welting exposes the edge of the leather (or other material) constituting the ball glove with joint lines on the back of the finger(s). Without turning the ball glove, other improvements may be seen such as the use of painted edge, exotic material types, and hard embellishments.

Abstract: A glomerulus on a chip (GOAC) to recapitulate the human glomerular filtration barrier, the structure responsible for filtering the blood and preventing the loss of proteins, is provided using human podocytes and glomerular endothelial cells seeded into microfluidic chips. In long-term cultures, cells maintain their morphology, form capillary-like structures and express slit diaphragm proteins. This system recapitulates functions and structure of the glomerulus, including permselectivity. When exposed to sera from patients with anti-podocyte autoantibodies, the chips show albuminuria proportional to patients' proteinuria, phenomenon not observed with sera from healthy controls or individuals with primary podocyte defects. Also shown is its applicability for renal disease modeling and drug testing.

The cavity comprising the preform is cooled to a temperature suitable for demolding by maintaining the second pressure. The mold is opened and the part is demolded.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a one-piece reinforced structure and obtained structure is provided, the method using base components made of partially-cured composite material and joining the base components together, applying a coating made of composite material on the base components, and applying heat on the assembly formed by the base components covered with the coating until a complete curing of the assembly is obtained, such that a one-piece reinforced structure made of composite material is obtained formed by the coating and the base components adhered to the coating, wherein the base components that form part of the very manufactured structure act as a mould during the manufacturing process, thus preventing the need to use moulds on which the composite material is deposited that must be subsequently removed from the final obtained structure.
