Abstract: A coated textile sleeve for routing and protecting elongate members, combination thereof, and method of construction is provided. The textile sleeve has an elongate knit wall constructed from weft knit yarns. The knit wall has an inner surface providing a generally tubular cavity in which the elongate members are received and protected. The inner surface is formed, at least in part, by laid-in yarn to provide a soft, non-abrasive surface for dampening contact with the elongate members being protected to facilitate absorbing vibration, which in turn, reduces the frictional wear of the elongate members being protected. Further, the knit wall has an outer surface with a flexible, impervious elastomeric coating thereon. The elastomeric coating allows the knit wall to substantially retain its flexibility as knit, provides enhanced protection against the ingress of fluid and other contaminants, and providing added dampening to absorb vibration.

  • Patent number: 6808574
Abstract: The present invention is a label system and method for label alignment and placement on a container. The label system includes a first label or a container whereby the first label includes alignment symbology and a second label having an alignment area corresponding to the alignment symbology of the first label. The second label is positioned on the container whereby the alignment area of the second label is aligned with the alignment symbology of the first label. The method for label alignment and placement comprises the steps of (i) providing a container with identification information and a label bearing area; (ii) scanning the identification information; (iii) processing the identification information; (iv) printing indicia on a label at a position defined by the identification information; and (v) placing the label on the container with the indicia positioned at the desired predetermined location.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for constructing a rotatable label and attaching the rotatable label to a container. The rotatable label system comprises an inner label attached to the container and a rotatable outer label. The inner label may have adhesive on a rear surface of a trailing end alone, adhesive on a rear surface of both the leading and trailing end for fixedly attaching it to a container, or adhesive on the entire rear surface. The outer label may only have adhesive on a rear surface at or near a trailing end to secure the outer label to itself. The outer label is temporarily coupled to, the container while the outer label is wrapped around the container. Once the trailing end is attached to a front surface of the outer label at or near a leading end of the outer label, the outer label can be rotated about the container over the inner label.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of making applicators for inserting materials into body cavities. The applicators comprise a tubular insertion member having an insertion end and a gripper end opposite thereof. The gripper end has an indentation with a shoulder on each end of the indentation. The shoulder most proximal the insertion end provides resistance to finger slip during the step of inserting the applicator into a body cavity. Whereas the shoulder most proximal the gripper end provides resistance to finger slip during the step of expelling material substantially contained by the applicator. The shoulder most proximal the gripper end also provides secure handling of the applicator while removing the applicator from the body after the expulsion step has been completed.

Abstract: An ordinary golf ball is cleaned and then treated with an emulsion depositing in the dimples a hologram having the capacity to reflect a pre-selected wavelength of laser-beam. If a player temporarily looses such ball, a hand-held unit directs an infra-red laser beam of said pre-selected wavelength, desirably one not absorbed by atmospheric moisture, such as 1310 nm. Said hand-held unit contains an analyzer evaluating the light reflected back to such analyzer and attributable to such laser beam of said pre-selected wave-length. By evaluating the intensity of such reflected light, the golfer can target the location of the temporarily lost ball. Upon approaching the lost ball the angle at which the unit would be held would be modified for focusing on the lost ball. Earphones, meters, or other diagnostic equipment can monitor the intensity of the light reflected back from such laser beam.

Abstract: A multiple port valve plate assembly for use with a vacuum drum in a labeling apparatus. The valve plate has a first stationary vacuum cavity which is supplied with one level of vacuum suitable for picking up a label segment from a cutter with limited tension. The valve plate has a second, floating cavity, which is supplied with another, higher level of vacuum suitable for firmly griping the cut label segment as an adhesive is applied to the label segment. The valve plate has a third stationary vacuum cavity for suitable for holding the label at a lower vacuum pressure while the label is being transferred to a container. The third cavity may be further divided into a label application segment with an even lower vacuum pressure. A pressure port is also provided adjacent the third cavity for facilitating release of the label from the vacuum drum as it contacts the container.

  • Patent number: 6537408
Abstract: Securing a flexible material about the open end of a container. A securing mechanism pre-attached or separately attached to the flexible material is a single user operated securing mechanism visible to the user while securing the flexible material about the open end of a container. A portion of the flexible material, positioned about the open end of the container, is folded in a single or plurality of layers. The folded portion is positioned adjacent to the un-folded portion of the flexible material. The securing mechanism secures the folded portion to the un-folded portion thereby securing the flexible material about the open end of the container.
