Abstract: The present invention provides a peripheral nerve growth scaffold including poly ?-caprolactone (PCL) and microgrooves on an inner surface of the scaffold, the scaffold being adapted for use in treatment of damaged peripheral nerves. The microgrooves are suitably arranged as a pattern or array and preferably comprise sloping side walls, which arrangement has been found to provide a favourably environment for nerve and Schwann cell growth and proliferation. Experimental results demonstrate directed and aligned growth, which suitably reduces the rate of formation of neuromas. Embodiments comprising a PCL-PLA blend of the sloping side wall and a groove width greater than the spacing between adjacent grooves has been found to be particularly effective for directed cell growth and proliferation.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a bag (20) for the cryopreservation of thermolabile liquids. The manufacturing method is characterized by being versatile, simple and inexpensive and allows to manufacture single and multi-compartment bags without modifying the main sealing molds (31, 32). The relative size and the number of the compartments (28) can be modified without change in the molds. Only a closure sealing tool (50) must be adjusted as a function of the number of chosen compartments (28). The process is compatible with standard high frequency sealing processes. This method provides bags (20) with uniformly thick walls and with a predetermined bag volume.

Abstract: A method for producing insulation tape. A strip of fabric is provided and a layer of insulation powder material is deposited onto the fabric. The fabric is folded over the insulation powder to form insulation tape that may be wrapped around pipes. The method of folding the fabric includes first bending the fabric into a trough shape that has a bottom portion and lateral upstanding flaps that terminate in lateral edges. The insulation powder may be deposited onto the bottom portion of the trough. The insulation powder is packed onto the bottom portion. Tape with adhesive on both sides is placed on one of the flaps so that when the flaps are folded in overlapping contact over the insulation powder the powder is enclosed and the flaps remain secured to each other. Stitching may be added to further secure the adhered flaps to each other and to the bottom portion.
