  • Patent number: 8163121
Abstract: A resin impregnated overlay sheet is laid atop a wood veneer to create a concrete form. At a pre-press station, pressure is applied to a veneer assembly having an overlay sheet laid atop it. Thereafter, the pressed overlaid assembly is transferred for final hot pressing. The pre-pressing of the overlay sheet onto the wood veneer ensures the static adherence of the overlay sheet to the veneer prior to final hot pressing.

  • Patent number: 8016972
Abstract: The present invention provides a process wherein a rotary knife or die, with one or more cutting edges, turns against and in coordination with a corresponding cylinder to create preferably trapezoidal ears. Ear material is slit into two lanes, one for a left side of a diaper and the other for a right side of a diaper. Fastening tapes are applied to both the right and the left ear webs. The ear material is then die cut with a nested pattern on a synchronized vacuum anvil. The resulting discrete ear pieces however, due to the trapezoidal pattern of the ears, alternate between a correct orientation and an incorrect (reversed) orientation. The reversed ear is required to be rotated 180° into the correct orientation such that the ears and associated tape present a left ear and a right ear on the diaper.

The method includes the steps of providing a webstock of polymeric material including a conductive film, conveying the webstock with the moving surface, and applying the conductive film to the moving surface in a shape corresponding to the auxiliary antenna. The moving surface may include cardboard in a roll manufacturing process. Depending on the thickness of the auxiliary antenna the step of applying the conductive film may include cold or hot stamping. Apparatus for forming an auxiliary antenna for an RFID tag is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7811404
Abstract: A web (36) of paper or the like has labels (42) defined therein by printing the web (36) followed by skip cutting (40) the web to define the label boundaries. The skip cutting (40) leaves the labels (42) connected to the remainder of the web (36) by breakable catch points (44). The labels (42) are rendered capable of being applied to product containers (16) by the web (36) having adhesive applied to the side opposite the printing, and the web (36) is rendered capable of being wound up by having an adhesive release coating, such as silicone, applied over the printing.

Abstract: The present invention provides a sensor (100, 300, 400) that includes a thin and substantially flat flexible substrate (102, 406) having one or more sensor arrays (104, 302), a power source (106, 416), an output interface (108, 418) and a processor or analog circuit (304), all of which are disposed on the substantially flat flexible substrate (102, 406). The substrate (102, 406) can be any shape (e.g., rectangular, circular, a polygon, an irregular shape that is decorative) and made from a polymer, metal film or other suitable material. Note that the substrate can be rigid or semi-flexible instead of flexible. A protective layer may cover the sensor array (104, 302), the power source (106, 416), and the processor or analog circuit (304). Alternatively, a protective covering can be used to encapsulate the device. The one or more sensor arrays (104, 302) measure acceleration, force or pressure.

Abstract: A cord-reinforced band 2 having at least one cord 1 is cut into a plurality of cord-reinforced strips 3 of a predetermined length L. The cord-reinforced strips 3 are arranged successively such that side edge parts of adjacent cord-reinforced strips 3 overlap each other and the adjacent cord-reinforced strips are bonded together to form a tire structural member of a pre-determined length with respect to a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal side edges of the cord-reinforced strips 3. The tire structural member manufacturing method uses one and the same extrusion die 14 having an extrusion opening of a fixed width regardless of a pitch at which the cords 1 are arranged. Thus, the tire structural member manufacturing method is simpler.
