  • Patent number: 7503988
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method of manufacturing an image display, comprising the step of sticking an adhesive optical film to an image display panel substrate surface having a display defect-inducible scratch, wherein the adhesive optical film is selected and used according to the image display panel such that the formula: Y×(0.97X+0.45)>0.19Z?0.006 is satisfied, wherein X (mm) is the amount of creep displacement one hour after a load of 500 g is applied at 23° C. to a 10 mm square of an adhesion area of the adhesive optical film stuck to the panel substrate, Y (mm) is the thickness of a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer of the adhesive optical film, and Z (mm) is a half length of the length of long side of the scratch of the image display panel substrate surface. According to the invention, a display defect, which would otherwise be caused by an scratch of the image display panel substrate, is avoided by filling the scratch with the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer of the adhesive optical film.

Electrically-conductive traces provide electrical connections from the first and second edges to the electronic elements. An adhesive is applied to at least one of a top surface of the first active layer and a bottom surface of the second active layer and the top surface of the first active layer is adhered to the bottom surface of the second active layer. The first edge and the second edge are aligned with each other thereby forming a side of the multilayer module. Electrically-conductive lines are applied along the side of the multilayer module to provide electrical connections to the traces.

Abstract: A method of simultaneously making a plurality of composite cartons from two or more individual cartons on a common assembly surface. A plurality of first singular cartons is positioned in a predetermined array on an assembly surface. Adhesive is positioned at one or more locations on each first singular carton. A plurality of second singular cartons is positioned in a predetermined array adjacent to the array of first singular cartons on the assembly surface such that the adhesive bonds each first carton to a corresponding second carton. The method steps may be repeated. A detector may be used to detect the presence or absence of adhesive. A composite carton comprising three or more individual cartons may be constructed. The individual cartons in the composite cartons may be separable from each other. An object may be positioned between each of the bonded individual cartons in the composite cartons.

Abstract: A flow meter is disclosed that is comprised of a base, a driver, pick-offs, and a flow tube made from a fluoropolymer substance. The base of the flow meter is comprised of a first leg and a second leg. The first leg includes a tube opening and an adhesive opening and the second leg includes a tube opening and an adhesive opening. The flow tube passes through the tube openings of the first leg and the second leg. The tube opening of the first leg has a diameter slightly larger than the flow tube to create a gap between the tube opening and the flow tube. The adhesive opening of the first leg provides access to the gap so that adhesive may be applied to the flow tube and an inner surface of the tube opening to affix the flow tube to the base. The adhesive opening in the second leg performs the same function.

Abstract: A method of making a tailgate for a pickup truck or the like includes selecting a pair of polymer sheets and selecting a flexible fiberglass woven mat and sandwiching the selected fiberglass woven mat between the selected pair of polymer sheets. The sandwiched mat polymer sheets are placed on a tailgate forming mold for molding the inner tailgate panel from the sandwiched matted polymer sheets. The inner tailgate panel has a plurality of spacing reinforcing ribs thereon. The outer tailgate panel is formed and the ribs on the inner tailgate panel have a cold setting adhesive applied thereto for binding the outer tailgate panel thereover to form a tailgate having inner and outer fiberglass reinforced polymer panels spaced and reinforced by a plurality of intersecting ribs. Once the inner and outer panels have been positioned, they are placed in a fixture to hold them while the adhesive cures.

Abstract: Composite film structures exhibit a predetermined finished color tone comprised of a transparent film layer which exhibits a color deficiency as compared to the finished color tone, and a pigment which is visually associated with, and satisfies the color deficiency of, the film layer. Most preferably, the pigment is provided as a homogenous dispersion in a transparent color-matching layer positioned adjacent to the film layer. Thus, when the film and color-matching layers are viewed collectively as a unit, the perceived color tone will be that of the finished predetermined color tone. That is, the color-matching layer provides visually an additive effect on the perceived color of the composite film structure.
