  • Patent number: 5555605
Abstract: An apparatus and method for aligning a door includes a door plate and a jamb plate hingedly connected to the door plate. A backing plate is spaced from and adjustably connected to the jamb plate, the backing plate including an adjustable spacing device for adjusting the distance between a door frame member and the door jamb to which the alignment apparatus is mounted. The jamb plate and backing plate are adapted to be mounted on a door jamb such that the door jamb is positioned between the jamb plate and backing plate. An adjustable fastening device extends from the jamb plate through the door jamb and backing plate into an adjacent door frame member for securing the alignment apparatus on a door frame member. Adjustment of the distance between the door frame member and door jamb is effected by adjustment of the adjustable spacing device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a furniture hinge having a wall-related part shaped as an elongated supporting arm which can be mounted for adjustment in at least two coordinate directions on an associated mounting plate disposed on the wall of a cabinet carcase. The supporting arm is mounted and fastened on the mounting plate by a mounting screw driven into the mounting plate and passing through a slot provided at the inside end with an enlarged pass-through opening in the web of the supporting arm. A threaded spindle is screwed in a tap in the web of the supporting arm, which is situated further out from the carcase interior than the slot. At the bottom end of the spindle, on a neck of smaller diameter, is a head of larger diameter. This head is inserted into an open-ended slot provided in the mounting plate, which clutches the sides of the head, securing it against lifting away from the mounting plate.

The supporting arm (16) of the hinge is adjustably fastened to the mounting plate (14) that is previously mounted on the supporting wall (12) of a cabinet, and it has a slot (34) which is open at the end remote from the hinge articulation or is provided with an enlarged pass-through opening to admit the head (38) of a mounting screw (40) driven into the mounting plate (14). The mounting plate (14) is provided with a spring catch (wire spring 72) projecting beyond its lateral surface and associated with an abutment on the confronting inside surface of the supporting arm (16). The position of this abutment with respect to the tip (78) of the spring catch is selected such that the tip engages the abutment as soon as the shank of the mounting screw (40) reaches the area of transition from the slot (34) to the pass-through opening (36) or open end, as the case may be, of the slot.

  • Patent number: 4506409
Abstract: A single-pivot cabinet hinge (10) for hanging doors has a cup (12) which can be fastened in a gain in the back of a door (16) and in which there is journaled one end of a pivot arm (24) whose other end bears a fastening plate (28) having a slot (30) engaged by a projection (60) of a mounting element (34) which can be fastened to the carcass of the cabinet. The fastening plate is displaceable on the mounting element (34) under the guidance of the projection and can be fixed at selectable positions by means of a fastening screw (50) which can be driven into the projection. The projection in turn is continuously adjustable in the mounting element (34) at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the slot and likewise fixable at selectable positions, so that the pivot arm together with the door cup is adjustable relative to the mounting element, and therefore a door hung by the hinge on a cabinet carcass is adjustable relative to the cabinet carcass, in coordinate directions at right angles to one another.

  • Patent number: 4493129
Abstract: An improved hinge construction is provided having cam and spring means for maintaining it in its open and/or closed positions and importantly, having parts enabling it to be adjusted as to its positioning between a door and a door frame after it has been secured in position therebetween. Adjustment in its heighth and lateral relationships may be independently accomplished. A screw is carried by the boss of a screw-on mounting plate and cooperates with a so-called driving dog to effect lateral adjustment between the mounting place and a swing or operating arm and thus, between the door frame and the door, itself. Heighth adjustment is accomplished independently by loosening a mounting or fastening screw that is used to secure the swing arm to the boss, sufficiently to enable cross adjustment between cooperating serrations carried by them.

  • Patent number: 4386449
Abstract: A furniture hinge includes a mounting member that is fixable on a frame of a cabinet and a hinge casing that is insertable into a bore in a door of the cabinet. A hinge arm is linked to the hinge casing by means of hinge links. The hinge arm is mounted on the mounting member by means of an intermediate member and is held on this intermediate member by a screw. The position of the hinge arm is adjustable with respect to the mounting member.

  • Patent number: 4359802
Abstract: A hinge includes a hinge arm which is adjustable in three directions. An intermediate member is situated between the hinge arm and a mounting plate. One screw clamps the intermediate member to the mounting plate, another screw clamps the hinge arm to the intermediate member, and a third screw acts between the intermediate member and the mounting plate providing an adjustment of the hinge arm in a plane vertical to the mounting plate.
