  • Patent number: 5444895
Abstract: A hinge includes a stationary fitting base plate part, which fitting base plate part is connected with a pivotal fitting part. The hinge is able to be pivoted for lateral adjustment of a door or flap carried by the pivotal fitting part, in relation to the base plate part by a setting device in the pivot plane of the hinge. A stop member which bears on a hinge arm and is acted upon by a resilient element, is, via a cam, able to be pivoted with the pivotal fitting part and urges the pivotal fitting part in the closing part of its range of movement towards its closed position whereas outside such closing range it is rendered ineffective by the cam.

  • Patent number: 5144722
Abstract: A furniture hinge comprises a pivotally movable hinge member, which is adapted to be secured to a door or flap and is connected by two links to a hinge bracket, which is adapted to be connected to a base plate, which is adapted to be secured to a carrying wall. The bracket is slidably guided on the base plate at least in the direction of the depth of a piece of furniture and is adapted to be secured thereto in various depths of insertion by a clamp screw. A stop is provided for limiting the insertion of the hinge bracket in the direction of the depth of the piece of funiture. In order to ensure that the gap between the door and the corups of the furniture will have a predetermined width after the hinge bracket has been pivotally moved to effect a lateral adjustment of the door, an adjusting screw which bears on the base plate is screwed into the hinge bracket and is operable to impart to said hinge bracket a pivotal movement for effecting a lateral adjustment of the door or flap.

  • Patent number: 4817241
Abstract: To be able to mount a mitered door to a mitered wall and open it as wide as possible, and for keeping the miter joint as tight as possible, a hinge for the door comprises two base parts or inner and outer housings which are likewise mitered, making close contact with each other in the "closed position" of the hinge and being coordinated with the miter plane of the piece of furniture or the like. The two base parts are interconnected by long brackets and short brackets, the long brackets forming crosses and being connected by a pin. The inner housing is adjustable relative to the outer housing in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction, each by given amounts. Each adjustment is made via a turnable pinion acting upon a rack of a first intermediate member. The adjustment of the inner housing relative to the outer housing is achieved via the intermediate members, each of which is retained in one direction.

  • Patent number: 4654929
Abstract: Disclosed is a hinge repair assembly for correcting wear in the lower hinge of an automotive vehicle door, which wear occurs because of extended opening and closing of the door, with the result that the hinge pin hole (or holes) in the lowermost hinge ear (or ears) becomes ovalized and the door sags out of alignment with its striker and latching plates. The repair assembly includes a bearing block that is insertable in the space between the door ears and between the door edge and the hinge pin. The block is an upright groove that receives and forms a bearing surface for the hinge pin and a pair of ramp-faced members lying one at each side of the block and cross-connected screws which, when tightened, cause the block to ride forwardly on the ramp faces of the members to improve the bearing relation of the block to the hinge pin and restoring the hinge pin to its original position forwardly in the ovalized hole.

  • Patent number: 4490883
Abstract: First (12) and second (42,62) body portions are each attached to a structural member. The first body portion (12) includes trunnions (18) that are slidably received in corresponding channels in the second body portion (42,62). The second body portion (42,62) includes a base member (62) and a pivot member (42), which cooperate to form the channels. The pivot member (42) has an open position and a closed position. A spring (82) biases the pivot member (42) in its closed position. A lever (44) moves the pivot member (42) against the force of the spring (82) into its open position. When the pivot member (42) is in its closed position, it blocks portions of the channels, thereby locking the trunnions (18) into one of two lock positions in the channels. When the pivot member (42) is in its open position, the trunnions (18) may slide in the channels from one lock position to another or out of the channels to disengage the two body portions.

Each hinged body is positioned within a recess in the enclosure wall. The hinge also includes a frictional member positioned in one of the slots in the hinged body, and a cover holder. Two pins couple the cover holder to the hinge body. One of the pins is coupled to the friction member; this pin passes through one of the slots into a socket in the friction member. The other pin is positioned within the other slot. The frictional member engages a portion of the hinged body defining the perimeter of the slot in which it is disposed. As the cover is raised and lowered, the frictional member rides along this slot.
