Closers Patents (Class 16/71)
  • Patent number: 8191206
Abstract: A hinge for cold rooms, swing gates or the like includes a stationary support structure and at least a door movable between an open door position and a closed door position. The hinge comprises a box-like hinge body and a pin rotatably coupled to rotate about a first axis between the open door position and the closed door position. Closing means are provided for automatically returning the door, as well as a working fluid acting thereon to hydraulically contrast their action. The closing means comprise a cam element unitary with the pin interacting with a plunger element housed in an operating chamber defined within the box-like hinge body. The box-like hinge body has an elongated shape to define a second axis perpendicular to the first axis.

Abstract: A door closer with a self-powered control unit is disclosed. The control unit for the door closer includes a drive gear configured to rotate in response to movement of a door, and a chain arranged to cooperate with the drive gear to produce linear motion in response to rotation of the drive gear. At least one gear creates rotational motion from the linear motion of the chain to turn a generator and generate electricity to power the control unit. In some embodiments, a set of clutch gears is disposed between the chain and the gear creating the rotational motion from the chain so that only one direction of the rotational motion is transferred to the generator in response to movement of the door in any direction. The control unit can additionally include a power management circuit to store energy from the generator.

  • Publication number: 20110231023
Abstract: A door closer assembly is provided, including a valve regulating an amount of hydraulic fluid that flows through the valve. The amount of hydraulic fluid flowing through the valve controls a force generated by the door closer assembly on a door. A first sensor measures an angular position of the door, and a second sensor measures an angular position of the valve. The angular position of the valve determines the amount of hydraulic fluid flowing through the valve. A controller controls the adjustment of the valve based on the angular position of the door and the angular position of the valve.

Abstract: A hood support piston stopper that is positionable in connection with the hood support piston assembly of a vehicle in a manner to prevent the piston rod of the hood support piston assembly from sliding back into the cylinder allowing the hood to move from the raised to the closed position. To maintain the stopper in a handy location under the vehicle hood of a vehicle with a faulty hood support piston assembly it would be a further benefit to have a tether for securing the stopper in an out of the way but readily accessible location under the vehicle hood.

Abstract: A sliding resistance member (3) is interposed between a glove box (B) and a rod type air damper (21). It is assumed that when a glove box lid (L) corresponding to a open-close member starts opening, the rod type air damper (21) rotates while running idle in conjunction therewith, in a relation in which the rotary type oil damper (3) is positively interposed between the glove box (B) corresponding to the mounting shaft and the rod type air damper (21). However, since a braking force of the sliding resistance member (3) is applied to the side of the open-close member in a rotating section of the rod type air damper (21), an sufficient damper effect can be obtained even when the open-close member starts opening.

Abstract: A check mechanism for a motor vehicle door includes a housing secured to either the vehicle frame or the door and a check arm secured to the other one of the vehicle frame and the door. The door check extends into the housing through an opening in the housing. A pair of opposed guides are located within the housing and engage opposite sides of the check arm. Each guide has a generally V-shaped portion, in cross-section, engaging the check arm to generally form a line contact between the guide and the check arm. Spring members such as elastomeric springs bias the guides toward each other and the check arm. The guides and the check arm are adapted to resist movement of the closure relative to the vehicle frame when the guide engages predetermined locations of the check arm. When the door is moved relative to the frame, the guides slide along the exterior surface of the check arm.
