  • Patent number: 8561667
Abstract: A window treatment, in which a shade is raised and lowered, is comprised of a roller upon which shade material is reeled and unreeled. A wand drives a universal joint, preferably a uniquely configured knuckle joint, and the universal joint drives a flexible shaft which is connected to the roller. Special shaping of the parts and slots of the U shape links of mating knuckles enables smooth and positive universal joint operation. A user may pull down on the wand, to bend the flexible shaft and bring the knuckles into alignment, whereupon turning of the wand rotates the roller. When the wand is released the resilience of the flexible shaft helps lift the driven knuckle so it is parallel to the horizontal roller, and the drive roller moves to a home position which inhibits counter-rotation of the roller due to the weight of the shade.

Each soft material is in a loop shape and the blind structure is formed by interconnecting two neighboring soft materials with an adhesive agent. Plural through-holes are provided between the two neighboring soft materials, allowing the cord to be transfixed into these through-holes. Accordingly, the vertical expansion and collection of the blind is controlled by the cord and the loop-shaped soft material can achieve a double-layered blind effect when being expanded. Moreover, the cord can be contained completely in the soft material to be hidden completely, thereby providing a blind that is provided with a better light shading effect and can be used more safely.

The fabric so formed can be incorporated into a covering for architectural openings with the covering including a headrail with means for gathering the fabric material within the headrail.

Abstract: In a first embodiment, a selective adjustment cord is provided as a very thin cord is extended through a series of thin engagement apertures which lie adjacent the main lift cord openings in a horizontal blind set. A series of engagement structures themselves cannot fit through the thin engagement apertures, and the selective adjustment cord is capable of movement of a louver having an engagement structure by only about the distance between adjacent louvers. In a second embodiment a slip fitting can be placed on specified louvers such that the first amount of upward travel of the lift cord will immediately lift the slats to which the slip fitting is engaged. Further movement of the lift cord will overcome the resistance of the slip fitting and allow the blinds to be lifted normally.

The tension device incorporates a drive wheel, casing, anchoring arm and drive stud. The drive stud has two sections, one keyed and one cylindrical. Before the tension device is installed, the keyed section of the drive stud engages the drive wheel and the casing, thereby preventing them from rotating relative to each other. When the tension device is installed, the drive stud must be inserted into the anchoring arm causing the keyed section of the drive stud to disengage the drive wheel and thereby allow the drive wheel to rotate relative to the casing.

Abstract: A cord fixer for venetian blind includes a headrail, a bottomrail, a plurality of slats, and a plurality of lift cords extending from the headrail to the slats and terminating at bottomrail. At least one cord fixer applied for receipt of the lift cords and thusly, securing the lift cords within the corresponding bottomrail. The cord fixer has an upper surface facing to the slat and a bottom surface facing to the bottomrail, at least one fitting member being positioned on the bottom surface allowing the lift cords to wrap around. And a fitting groove is constructed at the end of the fitting member for receipt of the lift cords. Conveniently, one can flexibly adjust the position of the corresponding rails and lift cord length in accordance to the actual blind size by means of lift cords and fitting members. Abstract: A Venetian-style window blind (10) that resembles plantation style shutters is described. In a preferred embodiment, the headrail is shaped like the plurality of slats depending from it, is pivotally connected to the sides of a window frame by mounting brackets and has a hollow interior. Tilting of the plurality slats depending from the headrail is accomplished by vertically moving an actuator rod that is pivotally connected to the headrail. The plurality of slats are suspended from the headrail by a cord ladder to tilt in unison with the headrail. While tilting the blind assembly into the closed position, the headrail and depending slats also slide inwardly towards the windowpane. The slats are lifted through the actuation of a lift handle that is slidably attached to the actuator rod and contains therein a lock mechanism to hold the slats in a desired position.
