Framed Type Patents (Class 160/371)
  • Patent number: 6108997
Abstract: A vinyl window or door screen frame which does not require clips or hooks for installation. The frame contains corner keys formed at angles greater than 91.degree. which provide a slight bow along each side of the screen frame. This feature allows the screen frame to fit snugly into the window frame. The use of vinyl makes the screen frame flexibly rigid and thus allows for the bow in the frame. The frame stays in place due to the compression force between the window frame and the bowed edges of the screen frame.

  • Patent number: 6079475
Abstract: A security screen with a main frame having radial sections which interconnect with radial sections of a subframe when the screen is closed to strengthen the screen and increase its resistance to displacement due to sustained or impact loads. Brackets attached to the radial sections of the main frame have pins aligned to fit into holes in the radial sections of the subframe when the screen is closed. The brackets and pins serve to prevent the radial section of the main frame from bending inward under a force applied to the screen cloth by effectively combining the strength and rigidity of the main frame and subframe. Thus, the force required to displace the screen cloth a given distance is increased. The increase in strength and rigidity is accomplished without increasing the dimensions of the screen or its supporting structure. Also, the brackets serve to inhibit the security screen from being pried open. Other means to interconnect sections of the main frame and subframe are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6061941
Abstract: A flex holder for retaining a flexible sign face material to a sign casing. The flex holder comprises a body having a longitudinal axis and a hinge extending along the longitudinal axis. An elongated tongue is connected to the hinge and a groove is formed in the body along a projection of the tongue about the hinge. The tongue has a pair of notches therein such that when the tongue is bent over a flexible sign face material and engaged in the groove, the flexible face material is held transversely to the body by an engagement of the tongue and groove and is held longitudinally to the body by a friction of the flexible sign face material between the notches and the groove.

  • Patent number: 6009932
Abstract: A push to exit, pull to enter latch assembly is disclosed, particularly suitable as a screen door latch for a recreational vehicle door assembly having a main closure door and a screen door. The latch assembly comprises a latch housing, a latch bolt linearly slidable from a latching position to an unlatching position, a push-to-release lever mounted on one side of the latch housing and a pull-to-release lever mounted on an opposite side of the latch housing. In certain preferred embodiments each release lever has a handle and a latch bolt engagement flange. Rotation of either release lever from its normal position to its releasing position forces the corresponding latch bolt engagement flange against the latch bolt, urging the latch bolt from the latching position to the unlatching position. The latch assembly may cooperate with a screen to close an opening in a pivotable screen door.

  • Patent number: 4432174
Abstract: A single foil is biaxially stretched on a frame for movement relative thereto by being secured intermittently to a single rubbing strip over a guide ledge. The rubbing strip is stretchable and movable lengthwise of the associated frame side. Torsional forces arising because of the one-sided loading of the frame by the stretched foil are taken up by the frame which is made with a torsionally rigid cross-section.The single foil can be clamped without creasing and in a manner which ensures freedom from creasing notwithstanding differences in the heat expansion of the foil and frame.

  • Patent number: 4361180
Abstract: A stretcher frame for decorative materials used as wall hangings, for artists' canvasses and the like which includes four limbs defining a rectangle, two of which can be folded inwardly at their centers so that the frame can be folded up concertina-fashion. Hinge connections are provided at each corner of the frame and at the mid-points of the folding limbs. The four limbs remain permanently connected by the hinge connections and the folded frame can be easily transported and stored. If the covering material can be folded it can remain in place on the frame when the frame is folded. The hinge connections include flat link members which are normally concealed within slots in the limbs.

  • Patent number: 4332413
Abstract: A window assembly for modifying the appearance of a vehicle body. The window assembly comprises a glass fiber reinforced polyester panel adapted to bridge a body opening. The polyester panel has at least one opening smaller and of a different configuration than the body opening and is formed with a peripheral rabbet projecting into the smaller opening. An insert complementary in shape to the smaller opening is positioned in the latter adjacent the rabbeted periphery. The insert may take the form of a window pane, a louvered panel, a lamp housing lens, or other substantially planar article. The insert is held in place by an injection moldable elastomeric material that in cured condition integrally interlocks the periphery of the insert to the rabbet of the polyester panel.

  • Patent number: 4232310
Abstract: A screen assembly includes a rectangular mesh sheet with several parallel security strands of insulated conductive wire extending between opposite sides of the sheet. Insulated cross wires lie on a face of the mesh near the opposite sides thereof, are joined by welding or soldering to points on the security strands, and are cut at selected locations to provide a sinuous electrical path through the screen. A spline of insulative material extends around the border of the mesh sheet and encapsulates the locations where the cross wire is joined to the security strands, the spline including upper and lower spline portions lying on opposite faces of the mesh and sealed together through the mesh. A frame for holding the screen includes a pair of frame halves that snap together, with the lower half having an undercut slot that receives a flange at the periphery of the spline, the lower frame half also having a stop surface opposite the undercut slot which abuts the inner edge of the spline.

  • Patent number: 4221038
Abstract: A method for forming a frame from an elongate strip of formable material and products formed thereby are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of notching the side edges of an elongate strip and providing slots in one edge; thereafter deforming the strip along four parallel lines which become the interior corners of frame members having a substantially rectangular cross section. A pair of complementary corner notches, each formed of a particular shape, allow the strip to be folded or deformed transversely of its length dimension, thereby forming a pair of intersecting frame members each having a substantially rectangular cross section defined by a front wall, parallel inside and outside side walls and a pair of flanges. The inside flange and side wall of each frame member provide a plurality of slotted openings spaced equal distances apart to receive the ends of steel rods which are interlaced and form a wire meshed screen.

  • Patent number: 4171210
Abstract: A filter retaining device to prevent a unit filter from inadvertently falling out of a bottom access flow-through housing when the housing is opened to gain access to the interior. Bottom access flow-through filter housings typically include spaced apart elongated channels which slidably receive a unit filter. These channels serve to locate and hold a unit filter in a gas stream passing through the flow-through housing. The filter retaining means is removably attached to the bottom open end of each channel to support the unit filter in the flow-through housing when the bottom access is opened to gain access to the interior of the filter housing.
