Abstract: A multiple-impingement cooled structure, such as for use as a turbine shroud assembly. The structure includes a plurality of baffles which define with an element to be cooled, such as a shroud, a plurality of cavities. Impingement cooling air is directed through holes in one of the baffles to impinge upon only the portion of the shroud in a first cavity. That cooling air is then directed to impinge again upon the portion of the shroud in a second cavity.

Abstract: A plate heat exchanger having a plurality of parallel channels for conveying heated gases including entrained pollutants, with transversely directed cooling gases intermediate the polluted gas channels, and an apparatus for periodically cleaning the polluted gas channels, including pipes aligned with their respective channel openings, the pipes having a plurality of jet passages closely spaced therealong, all of the pipes connected to a pressure accumulator having at least a volume greater than ten times the volume of an individual pipe interior, and including controllable valve release mechanisms for sequentially exhausting the pressure tank volume into each of the respective pipes.
