    Abstract: A three-point hitch suitable for operation with wide implements is constructed by substituting a pair of flotation actuators for the usual drop links that are normally coupled between a pair of rocker arms and a pair of lower draft links. These drop links are coupled to a hydraulic circuit including, according to one embodiment, individual accumulators for each flotation actuator, and according to a second embodiment, both actuators are coupled to a single accumulator. The accumulator(s) act to cause a pre-selected lifting force to be exerted by the flotation actuators so that a predetermined amount of the weight of an implement mounted to the draft links is counterbalanced, leaving a desired ground pressure being exerted by the implement during operation. When using individual accumulators, a side-to-side weight balance can be achieved since different accumulator settings may be used.

A control unit automatically adjusts the length of the coupling elements as a function of the sensor signals so that the position of the implement relative to the vehicle is adapted to the curved path. This reduces the outer radius of the area over which the vehicle and implement travel when traveling along a curved path and helps avoid collisions with objects.

The draft compensating suspension enables the tractor hitch to be mounted on the suspended frame or chassis of the tractor rather than mounting the hitch to a non-suspended beam axle or locking out the suspension during draft work. The draft load is applied to the chassis by a ground engaging implement. The tractive load and torque at the rear wheels are reacted through the side view instantaneous center of the rear suspension. The placement of the instantaneous center will determine the suspension reaction to the wheel load and torque. Locating the suspension instantaneous center on a line of 100% draft-compensation will eliminate the motion of the suspension due to the draft load. If the instantaneous center is located below the 100% draft-compensation line, the suspension will compress under a draft load.

A pressure-operated piston/cylinder unit is coupled between the housing and the chassis and is operable to vertically pivot the boom.

    Abstract: A hitch link structure includes two hitch tubes angled with respect to each other and having forward ends connected by upper and lower hitch plates welded to the tubes. The plates include weld cutouts designed so the same plates can be used with a variety of different hitch tube angles, depending on the width of the mainframe hitch mount-up. Three apertures in the forward end of each of the plates receive bolts which connect the selected hitch link to the plates. The apertures also act as weld fixturing locators to speed hitch construction. The weld cutouts, in generally a half moon configuration, facilitate low cost fillet welds at easily accessible locations regardless of hitch tube angle and facilitate fillet weld connections in relatively lowly stressed areas. The lower plate is apertured to define an intermediate support hole for the safety chain, and the central bolt connecting the hitch link also attaches to the safety chain so the chain is accommodated without additional parts.

The hitch assembly includes spaced apart arms which are moveable upwardly, downwardly and laterally. There is however, no middle or third link. Instead each arm has a pivotal coupling member, the coupling member having in turn two vertically spaced coupler elements. Each coupling member is attached to a mechanism extending from between the coupler elements to a point about midway of a respective arm. Each of the coupler elements receives coupler complementary elements attached to a coupling frame, which frame is connected to an implement. The coupler complementary elements are arranged on the coupling frame in a generally rectangular disposition. The hitch is safe, easy to use and does not require an additional working person to help make a connection between the working vehicle and the implement.

    Abstract: An assembly with a lower steering arm has a strut 1 and an attaching end 16. To achieve a cost-effective design while at the same time reducing the play between the attaching end 16 and the end of the strut 1 received therein, the attaching end 16 includes a base member 18 and a cover 19. A blocking pawl 34 is supported in the base member 18. The cover 19 is welded to the base member 18 and comprises a stop face 30 for the end face 10 of the strut 1. Thus, any tolerances in the region of the base member 18 provided in the form of a forging do not affect the position of the stop face 30. The latter can be aligned when connecting the base member 18 and the cover 19. Because of its setting contour, the actuating lever 43 can be used for both the right hand and the left hand lower steering arm.
