Mast Type Hitch (e.g., Three Point Hitch, Etc.) Patents (Class 172/439)
  • Patent number: 5076369
Abstract: A length-adjustable upper steering arm for a three-point coupling device, including a connecting eye having a threaded shank, and a coupling hook having a threaded shank, both of which are received in threaded bores of a sleeve, and which threads extend in opposite directions. To achieve a locked position or disengaged position of the coupling hook relative to the sleeve, there are provided an actuating lever and a locking ratchet which is partially pivotable independently thereof. Because the spring-loaded locking ratchet may be pivoted from the disengaged position into the engaged position independently of the actuating lever, the thread is not subject to jamming forces.

  • Patent number: 5067261
Abstract: An invention which is an attachment to a standard tractor for use in continuous clearing, uprooting and grubbing of small trees, stumps, roots and brush from the land. The unit is fabricated of structural steel elements specially designed for continuous cutting and release of targeted materials for removal. These elements, specially designed and new to the art include a safety shield with viewing windows which provides protection to the operator from flying, hazardous debris; a steel bar as a guide to the forward cutting blades which also aids in pushing over the targeted timber; a pair of curved blades for gripping and cutting, then releasing the material they cut and lift without clogging the blades. Also the blades do not stick in the wood. This is a unique property as it allows continual operation including clearing the blades of debris saving the operator time and labor dismounting and manually clearing the blades after each cutting operation.

Upon overload, the pin shears and the portions jack-knife until the lift raises the implement past the obstacle and the implement is then lowered. The inner opening end is normally closed by an abutment member, but when the portions are pivoted, the opening is exposed and a severed pin portion falls out. The towing bar which extends rearwardly from the bottom of the rear body portion is rectangular as seen in plan with its sides adjacent to the internal side walls of the two central tires wherein it also acts as a mud scraper, such towing bar being at a level above the ground of about thirty to forty percent of the tire's radius.

Abstract: Removable lifting devices for tractors having horizontal front wheel axles which pivot relative to the contour of the ground, one device having tubes pivotably connected on each side of the tractor frame which rotatably and pivotably receive further tubes connected by a hinged structure to the tractor's forward axle and which extend forwardly thereof to be interconnected across the front of the tractor. The connecting hinged structure permits pivotable movement of the tube relative to the axle about substantially horizontal axes parallel and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tractor. The front structure connecting the tube portions extending forwardly from the axle includes a hydraulically operated three-point lifting device wherein hydraulic cylinders are disposed within a quadrangular arrangement of pivotable arms including the lower of the three-point lifting device's links.

Abstract: A mechanical link member is provided which is easily variable in length for ease of connection yet rigid in operation by the use of hydraulic valve and screw-type adjustments. In addition to an interrupted flow position which prevents relative axial movement of the ends of the link member, the hydraulic valve has full flow and restricted flow positions to control the rate of length adjustment. A spring positions the mechanical link to a midrange position when the hydraulic valve is opened and the link ends are not attached to a load.

A stop member rotatable about the reversing spindle is provided with two adjustable stops to enable the two ploughing positions of the plough frame to be preset relative to the headstock. To reverse the plough frame from one ploughing position to the other, the spindle and thus the plough frame is rotated by a hydraulic ram and an abutment on the spindle engages the stop member to cause said member to rotate with the spindle until the corresponding stop engages the headstock to locate the spindle and hence the plough frame in the other ploughing position.

Abstract: An upper link storage clip for securely maintaining the upper link of a tractor three-point hitch in its storage position without side to side movement, the storage clip being so designed that the upper link can be readily placed within it by a one hand operation. The upper link storage clip utilizes a spring biased pivoted hook to maintain the upper link between a pair of rearwardly extending spaced apart arms when the upper link is in its storage position. The rearward surface of the pivoted hook is provided with a cam surface so that as the upper link is forwardly swung towards its storage position the pivoted hook will be cammed to an open position permitting the introduction of the upper link between the pair of arms, the spring causing the pivoted hook to swing to its closed operative position when the upper link attains its storage position.

  • Patent number: 4103796
Abstract: Apparatus for attaching a bucket to a conventional three-point hitch on a tractor to control dumping of the bucket. The bucket is pivotally secured by stub shafts to a yoke-shaped frame. The frame is secured to the bottom portion of a three-point hitch and has an upwardly extending center post attached to the adjustable upper link of the three-point hitch. A rod, pivotally secured to the rear edge of the bucket, is slideably disposed through a sleeve pivotally secured to a lug attached to the center post. A stop member is pivotally secured to the lug over the sleeve and is spring-urged forward over the upper end of the rod to limit movement of the rod upwardly through the sleeve. When the stop member is pivoted rearwardly away from the rod by pulling a rope, the rod slides upwardly through the sleeve as the tractor moves forward dumping the contents of the bucket onto the ground.

Abstract: An earth-working tool has mounting means at one end for attachment of the tool to the frame of an agricultural implement, a tool blade down the forward edge of the tool and attachment means at the other end of the tool for securing a tool point. The mounting means is so arranged that the tool may be attached to the frame in such a manner that the tool blade will form a rearward angle, from the top end to the other end, in relation to a line normal to the direction of forward movement which the tool will take during use, with the result that soil tilled by the tool point will be prevented from rising to the surface by the action of the rearwardly directed tool blade. Ideally the tool may be mounted so that the tool blade will be forwardly directed, either by reversing the tool or by providing alternative mounting holes for mounting the tool to an agricultural implement.
