Abstract: The invention relates to a method for fitting a breaking device tool with a bearing, a breaking device and a tool bushing. The tool of the breaking device is fitted with a bearing with at least one bearing bushing manufactured of bearing material and arranged in a bearing space. There is a clearance fit between the bearing bushing and the bearing space, whereby the bearing bushing is insertable into the bearing space by manual force. During the use, compression stress pulses are given to the tool with a percussion device, whereby stress waves travel in the tool, which waves generate on the tool surface a movement in the direction of its perpendicular. This movement is transmitted to the bearing bushing, and it deforms the bearing bushing in the radial direction in such a way that the bearing bushing is pressed against the bearing space.

  • Patent number: 6666282
Abstract: A carriage system supports an impact or driver tool. The carriage system has a support member that extends upwardly from a base platform. Support arms are rotatably connected to the support member at medial portion of the arms at different elevations above the support member. A proximal end of each of the arms rotatably connects to a weight, while a distal end of each of the arms is adapted to rotatably connect to the driver tool. The weight is located on an opposite side of the support member from the driver tool when the driver tool is attached. When the weight is moved in a vertical direction, the arms rotate in combination with the movement of the weight. The arms rotate about their respective medial connections, thereby forcing the ends that rotatably connect to the driver tool to move in a vertically opposite direction than the weight.

  • Patent number: 6464020
Abstract: An single apparatus to drill and lift core specimens from an aggregate field includes a frame structure that can be deployed to a workface and is adapted to hydraulically deploy a rotating core drilling bit upon that workface to cut a core specimen from the substrate. The hydraulic deployment of the drill bit is self aligning and does not require complex alignment steps to ensure the maximum cutting efficiency and lifetime of the bit. The same apparatus that can be used to drive and deploy the drill bit can also be adapted to receive and lift the as-cut core specimen from the newly created hole in the substrate. Once lifted, the received specimen can be positioned out of the work area so that work within the newly created circular hole can progress.

  • Patent number: 6315059
Abstract: The present invention is a portable drilling rig having a support tower. A drilling engine, mounted within a cradle, and a lift winch are attached to the support tower. A stabilizer bar is attached to the lower end of the support tower to prevent swaying of the support tower. The engine transfers torque to the transmission mounted below the engine, to which a steel swivel, housing a quill, allows passage of air and/or water to a drill steel to provide rotary force to power a drill bit. A pull-down system, preferably a weighted bar, is attached to the lower end of the support tower and to the drilling engine to pull the drilling ending downwardly. Manual transport is provided by means of a main base wheel dolly system for easy one-man mobilization. A counterweight is attached to the lower end of the support tower to prevent the support tower from being lifted as the pull-down system forces the drilling bit into the ground.

Abstract: A gripping apparatus for resisting sliding of a drilling machine in first and second directions during drilling operations is provided. The gripping apparatus is pivotably mounted on the anchoring assembly of the drilling machine. The drilling machine includes a reciprocating drill mounted on the boom thereof. During operation of the drilling machine, the reciprocating drill generates thrust and pullback forces which tend to move the drilling machine in the first and second directions, respectively. The gripping apparatus for resisting sliding of the drilling machine in first and second directions during drilling operations includes first and second gripping mechanisms which are moveable between a first disengaged storage position and a second support surface engaging, work position.
