Abstract: An internal screw unit includes a screw-included tube assembly and a power source that supplies power. The screw-included tube assembly includes a tubular body in which a screw is arranged. The screw has an outer circumferential edge that is fixedly connected to an inside surface of the tubular body in a seamless manner so that when the power source drives the tubular body or the screw to rotate, the tubular body and the screw are rotated in unison with each other. Through feeding realized with the rotation of the screw in the tubular body, applications in conveyance of fluids (such as water and oil), solids (such as corn kernels, grains, and plastic particles) can be available. Additional applications are also available for fields of screw stirring and fluid power generation. Numerous advantages can be achieved, including complete enclosure, improved structural strength, steady flow speed, and extended life span.

  • Patent number: 8403127
Abstract: The introduction of a heterogeneous solid substance, such as biomass, into a container which is under pressure is difficult. The rotary valves and airlocks used hitherto have substantial deficiencies. The use of standard screw conveyors has hitherto failed due to the fact that a cavity formed behind the screw helix in which gas could escape from the pressurized container. These deficiencies are resolved in that two independently controllable screws are arranged in a screw conveyor pipe. Between the primary screw driven by a motor and the secondary screw driven by another motor, the biomass is compacted by high pressure as a consequence of the different revolution speeds of the motors in such a way that an almost gas-tight plug is formed. The invention is particularly well-suited for the introduction of biomass into a gasification installation which is under pressure, for the production of synthesis gas.

  • Patent number: 7681715
Abstract: A method and apparatus for discharging material at spaced intervals each provide a conveying tube and a conveying mechanism for moving material from a first end of the tube toward a second opposite end. Discharge openings are provided spaced along the tube at different heights thereon. Openings near the first end are at a higher elevation on the tube than those near the second end, corresponding to downward slope of material upon initial entry and conveyance within the tube. The decreasing elevation of discharge openings and corresponding slope of material act to delay discharge near the first end, by requiring a build up of material height to reach the opening, and hasten discharge near the second end, by eliminating the need to fill drop tubes or metering devices before conveying material further along the tube. This reduces lag time between progressive discharge openings thereby providing more even material distribution therefrom.

Abstract: A concentric auger feeder with the larger diameter outer auger having a flighting direction opposite that of the small or inner auger installed in the core of the outer auger. The two screw conveyors are connected to a reversible motor drive by a reversing clutch with the inner auger driven by the motor. To convey large amounts of ingredients, the clutch is engaged by a reversal of the driven input and the large screw conveyor conveys the ingredient at a large flow rate. As the desired amount of ingredient is approached, the motor is reversed, the clutch then disengages, and the inner screw conveyor will then convey the final amount of ingredient with a much more accurate cut off weight. This amount of ingredient is accessible to the inner auger because the slots in the tube core of the outer auger allow material to flow into the inner screw conveyor. • Patent number: 5524796
Abstract: A compound screw feeder for uniform volumetric flow rates of particulate solids, suitable for low, nonpulsating feed rates, comprises coaxial inner and outer screw flights. The flights both extend throughout the feeder section and produce a net discharge flow rate dependent on their respective feed directions and rates of feed. Various forms of the feeder may be employed in a loss of weight screw feeder system.

  • Patent number: 4995531
Abstract: A ring dispenser comprising a rotating rod having an acme thread along one portion thereof and a helical coil spring at a dispensing end thereof feeds individual rings to a ring transfer device located at the dispensing end of the rod. The rod is rotated by a motor and the rings are automatically separated and directed to the end of the rod where a sensor detects the presence of the ring and stops the motor. When the ring transfer device is ready to pick up a ring, the motor starts again and a ring slides off a conical tip of the rod onto the transfer device by rotation of the rod. The rings have diameters greater than the separation between the individual threads of the rod so that the rings move on the crests of the threads and are out of engagement with the thread roots. The spacings between the convolutions of the coil spring are greater than the thickness of the rings so that the rings move on the rod surface as the rings approach the dispensing end of the rod.

Abstract: A screw mill, for example, used for producing fine powder grains of calcium carbonate used as a bulking agent for paper. According to the screw mill of the present invention, the combination of the continuous screw and discontinuous vanes makes it possible to efficiently grind both slurry and dry materials without causing clogging of the mill. Also the clearance between the hub and the rotor can be finely adjusted by the screw type adjustor. This makes it possible to easily adjust the grain size and to produce ground materials having the spheroidicity of 0.3-0.03 which is best suited for use as a bulking agent for paper.

  • Patent number: 4726715
Abstract: A screw powder feeder has a rotary screw (12) disposed at the base of a hopper (10). The screw (12) comprises a twist drill bit. Powder is discharged into a chamber (18) and picked-up by a flow of gas. The pressure in chamber (18) is varied relative to the pressure in hopper (10) to control the feed rate for a given screw speed. Ultra-low feed rates are made possible by feeding gas into the hopper (10) through the screw (12) and controlling the relative gas pressures such that the pressure in the chamber (18) exceeds the pressure in hopper (10).
