  • Patent number: 6052830
Abstract: Protective head wear or cover for use in conjunction with a visor is disclosed. A top hair cover is provided with a front bill cover having an elastic front edge. This elastic front edge is fitted underneath the front edge of the bill of the visor, holding the protective cover in place. A lower rear edge of the cover is provided with elastic so as to assist in holding the cover to the back of a head of a user. A cape may be removably attached to this lower rear edge, the cape further provided with a drawstring for securing the cape about the neck of the user. Significantly, the cover and cape are constructed of a light weight, water resistant vapor permeable material for enhancing comfort of the user and preventing disturbance to a hairdo of the user. The drawstring gathers the cape about the neck of a user so that when the user bends forward, the cape remains secured about the users neck, preventing interference with vision and are movement.

  • Patent number: 6052823
Abstract: Sunglasses and a sun visor attached to a headband in an opposed configuration, such that only one or the other accessory is used at a given time. The alternate accessory is carried behind the head where it serves to close the circle of the headband. This secures the device on the user's head during vigorous activity and in windy conditions such as encountered in beach sports, cycling, boating, skate-boarding, etc.. The user wears either the sunglasses or visor forward, thus protecting the eyes with the sunglasses, or allowing full ventilation for the eyes on hot days by using the visor. In addition to its practical uses, the unique appearance of the device provides a marketable attraction.

  • Patent number: 6044490
Abstract: Various sheet material blanks comprising one or a plurality of interconnected panels are fabricated so that a stand-out structure die-cut into one panel upon manipulation assumes an attention-attracting, 3-dimensional orientation. The various configurations are such that particular advantages may be obtained through mass production, and machine-assembly methods can profitably be used to construct certain configurations. A variety of methods are shown for efficiently producing such pieces via mass-production, including items having multiple stand-out structures. Flat individual blanks in sheet form are particularly adapted to be conveyed through laser printers, copy machines and other suitable imprinting equipment in order to inexpensively personalize such blanks, which can be used to create a variety of different 3-dimensional items, including novelty sunvisors.

  • Patent number: 5996116
Abstract: A golf ball marker is carried in open display on a fabric article of golf clothing or other fabric golf accessory and remains in position due to the force of magnetism. To produce this effect, a layer of magnetic material is secured in position in contact with a concealed side of a layer of fabric in the article of golf clothing or other golf accessory. The golf ball marker is constructed of a ferrous material so that when it is placed into contact with an exposed surface of the same layer of fabric against which the magnetic material is secured opposite the layer of magnetic material, the ball marker is held by the force of magnetic attraction against the exposed surface of the to fabric layer. The ball marker remains in position until purposefully dislodged by a force that opposes the magnetic field created by the magnetic material. This force may be applied by the thumb and forefinger of the golfer's hand to remove the golf ball marker from the fabric layer.

An extension sheet or sheets are positioned within a guideway or slot in one or more of the sheet assemblies or are slidably attached to the shield, or are pivotally mounted thereto such that extended positions as well as retracted positions may be employed to further limit peripheral view. Partial toothed surfaces provide some resistance to sliding of the sheet extensions which may be positioned in guideways or slots. A hanger system such as ear pieces and a nose piece or clips hold the device in place to frame a direct view.

  • Patent number: 5647060
Abstract: A face shield assembly to protect the wearer from contaminants and airborne particles. The shield assembly includes a visor having a head-engaging band and a forwardly extending bill portion which, in the preferred embodiment, defines a light passing area which in the preferred form of the invention comprises a plurality of apertures. The band carries attachment means in the form of outwardly extending studs which engage arcuate slots and apertures in the transparent shield. The transparent shield is fabricated from a flexible plastic and in a use-position is spaced from the face of the wearer and extends above and below the visor for protection. The attachment means allow the visor to be pivoted upwardly to an out-of-the-way position when the headband is in place on the wearers head. The apertures also permit air circulation for the comfort of the wearer and to minimize fogging of the shield.

  • Patent number: 5634201
Abstract: An elongated panel configured in the shape of a visor has its respective left and right rear edges pivotally secured to the respective left and right ends of a band-shaped support member whose rear surface has a concave curvature to mate with the front of a person's forehead. The vertical orientation of the visor can be adjusted with respect to the band-shaped support member. An elongated strap is secured to the rear surface of the band-shaped support member and it has a plurality of loops secured to its rear surface. A bandanna is threaded through the respective loops and tied at the rear of the wearer's head. A display panel is formed below the visor adjacent its front end and it may have a mirror, a pager, a clock and a battery mounted therein. An audio speaker ear piece may be pivotally mounted adjacent either the left or right edge of the visor. An audio microphone may be pivotally mounted adjacent one of the edges of the visor.

  • Patent number: 5615414
Abstract: A self-conforming, head worn device which includes a head encircling band and a visor dependent therefrom which are fabricated from a flexible material that softens and conforms to a wearer's head upon warming up to the body temperature of the wearer. The head band includes a first fastening member on a first tail, and a second fastening member on a second tail of the head band. A plurality of protrusions on the first fastening member reversibly engage a plurality of bores on the second fastening member. The head band material is preferably a polymeric material which has a T.sub.g or softening temperature that is slightly lower than the human body temperature so that, when worn about the head of a wearer, the head band softens and conforms to the shape of the wearer's head, thereby maximizing wearer comfort. In an alternative embodiment, there is included hair receiving member in the form of a generally circular "pony-tail" adapter for use by persons with long hair.

  • Patent number: 5487191
Abstract: A cap or hat having a visor for permitting a flow of air through the visor, thereby precluding unintentional removal of the cap by wind currents. The inventive device includes a cap having a visor;extending outwardly therefrom, with the visor having a semi-circular aperture extending therethrough. A venting assembly extends across the visor aperture and is secured to forward and lateral edges of the visor aperture only, thereby allowing a trailing edge of the venting assembly to be fluidly biased out of the plane of the visor such that a pressure differential across the visor is reduced. The device may take the form of an integrally molded vent having a predetermined shape and fixedly secured to the visor. In addition, mounting plates facilitating the retro-fitting of existing caps are also provided.
