  • Patent number: 5365615
Abstract: An aerodynamically configured face-shield suitable for sports-helmets or other similar head protective gear, which is inexpensively die-cut and readily conforming to the frontal vertical-brim region of an existing visorless-helmet via special mounting elements. The vestigial low-profile mounting-elements are non-intrusive, and permanently install via double-face mounting-tape, as extruded-plastic strips having elongated-bifurcations which are manually swedged into corresponding die-cut attachment-slots at opposite lateral sides of the helmet brim. Thus attached, the special faceshield is held rigidly in position against physical forces such as are encountered during bicycling; yet, may be instantly avulsedly detatched by the user merely pulling the faceshield away from the brim mount-strips. This unique mounting methodology virtually eliminates potentially injurious fasteners heretofore employed in faceshield hardware design; plus, it presents an aerodynamically superior conformation.

  • Patent number: 5347655
Abstract: A sun visor with attached sunglasses rotatable incrementally between an up position, a down position and several intermediate positions. The frame of the sunglasses has a pair of posts extending laterally through holes in members dependent from the visor. The holes both have scalloped edges and the posts have a prismatic shape so that the scallops will engage the sides of the prismatic post and resist its rotation but not prevent rotation if sufficient force is applied to deform the scallops. The ends of the posts are conical and slotted to facilitate insertion of the posts through the holes in the dependent members and prevent removal because the diameter of the base of the cone is larger than the diameter of the hole.

  • Patent number: 4896375
Abstract: A golf cap of this invention comprises a headband that grips the golfer's head, and an elongated visor that includes on the inside at least one marker which is plainly visible to the wearer. The visor is permanently attached. The visor is longer than the usual golf cap visor, and is sufficiently long so that the lower edge thereof will be below eye level when the wearer has positioned the hat properly on his head. The marker preferably is in the form of a longitudinally extending line along the centerline of the visor. The golfer wearing this hat addresses the golf ball so that this longitudinal line is aligned with the ball and perpendicular to the proposed line of flight. The hat is an aid to the golfer in keeping his head down and his eye on the ball, because the marking makes him very conscious of any lifting or turning of the head. The side extensions aid the golfer's concentration by reducing any peripheral distractions.

  • Patent number: 4856116
Abstract: A sweatband which has a first component for absorbing copious quantities of perspiration from a user's skin and a second component for holding the first component against that part of the user's body from which perspiration is to be adsorbed. The moisture absorbing component has a core of moisture absorbent material covered with a soft, pliable material which will be comfortable to the user and will efficiently promote the absorption of moisture from the user's skin and the transfer of that moisture to the absorbent core. The second component of the sweatband includes an elongated, elastically extensible member with the ends thereof fixed to opposite ends of the first sweatband component. A visor may be attached to the sweatband to provide an article of apparel which is capable of absorbing perspiration from a user's forehead and of simultaneously shielding the user's eyes and face from the elements.

  • Patent number: 4839924
Abstract: Shooter's hat comprising a crown portion and an integral bill and side blinder assembly, in which the bill is characterized as being short and wide, and the side blinders are rigid but bendable forms to suit the needs of the shooter. The side blinders are characterized by having forward and rearward relieved arcuate portions, the forward portion providing wider visible flight path and the rearward portion preventing side vision distractions and light blockage without interfering with facial anatomy. The side blinders also have a lower lobe approximately coordinate with the eye position, in a front-to-back orientation, that extends below the eye socket to approximately the level of the cheek bone. As compared to the long bill loose fabric flaps of the prior art, the hat provides necessary shielding from sun and distracting peripheral light or activities, yet does not unduly restrict the angle of vision of the target flight path.

  • Patent number: 4837862
Abstract: Disclosed is a personal sun shield device for attachment directly to the facial area of the wearer. The shield has a primary shield member preferrably positionable immediately above the wearer's line of vision and a lower shield member which extends downward from the primary shield member to provide a slot such that the wearer's line of vision is through the slot between the primary shield member and the lower shield member. The lower shield member can be folded upward to reside in abutting position immediately behind the primary shield member so that the wearer has the option of using or not using the lower shield member. The primary shield member attaches to the face of the wearer by means of suction cups or two-sided tape preferrably in the area of the wearer's temples. This direct attachment allows the wearer to manipulate the primary shield member slightly upward or downward by means of merely raising or lowering his brow.

  • Patent number: 4813083
Abstract: There is described a hollow visor capable of being removably attached to a safety helmet of the type used by motorcycle riders. The visor is filled with water and sealed. One end of small tube extends into the hollow portion of the visor with the other end of the tube removably attached to the open face portion of the visor, thereby allowing the user to hold the open end of the flexible tube in his mouth. The visor is particularly useful for racing drivers by allowing the user to keep his mouth moist without taking his hands off the controls. The water will not leak from the visor since it is sealed and must be drawn out by the user.
