Abstract: A novel packaging for flat media having substantially square panels wherein at least one of the panels is adapted to form a compartment for storing a phonographic record, an audiovisual record or any flat media. The arrangement of the square panels enables the package to be folded in a compact, flat configuration for ease of storage and shipping. When erected, the package forms a cube that could be used as additional storage. The cube may be erected with either of the sides of the panels visible so as to afford greater opportunity for display.

Abstract: Various arrangements of a disc presentation device are presented. Such a disc presentation device may include a backing plate comprising a first surface. The disc presentation device may include a plurality of disc anchors arranged on the first surface of the backing plate. The plurality of disc anchors may be arranged in a circular pattern on the surface of the backing plate. Further, the plurality of disc anchors may be arranged such that when each disc anchor of the plurality of disc anchors is anchoring a disc, no disc coupled with an anchor of the plurality of disc anchors overlaps another disc coupled with another anchor of the plurality of disc anchors.

Abstract: An antitheft device designed to be attached to an off-the-shelf commodity item, preferably a piece of clothing, in particular in close proximity to the edge of the item, including a first so-called fastening part, provided with a nail-type pinning element, a second so-called attachment part, including a recess capable of receiving the said pinning element, a locking system designed to retain the pinning element in the said recess, the two parts being connected to one another so as to be movable relative to one another when the pinning element is outside the recess, and a spring providing the elastic mobility of the fastening part in relation to the attachment part.

Abstract: A disk holding device according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a cassette that includes an interior and an end wall and a cover that is received against the cassette to at least partially cover the interior, the cover having a latch arm that includes a channel established by a first edge wall and a second edge wall, the channel receiving a complementary portion formed in the end wall of the cassette. The first edge wall is received against an interior surface of the end wall that faces toward the interior and the second edge wall is received against an exterior surface of the end wall that faces away from the interior.

Abstract: A retention device includes a holder and an extractable casing mounted to the holder. The retention device includes a base, a cover opposite to the base, and a lateral plate extending from the base and interconnecting the base and the cover. The base, the side plates, and the cover cooperatively define a rectangular first cavity with an opening at a lateral side. The casing and the holder cooperatively define a second cavity. A size of the second cavity is less than that of the first cavity.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a connecting clasp and a multi-disc optical disc cartridge using the connecting clasp for connection. The connecting clasp comprises two half bodies rotationally connecting with each other, wherein one half body can rotate around the other one at a degree from 0° to 180°. The multi-disc optical disc cartridge comprises multiple transparent disc sheets for accommodating optical discs. When the connecting clasp is used for connecting the multiple disc sheets, the two half bodies are inserted into the corresponding mounting sites of the adjacent disc sheets respectively so as to rotationally connect the disc sheets. Therefore, the adjacent disc sheets can rotate relative to each other at a degree from 0° to 180°, or even be displayed in the manner of turning pages at a degree from 0° to 360° when multiple disc sheets are connected together.

Abstract: The protective case includes a back cover (2) and a cover (3), which are provided to fit together. The case further includes a flange (6), inserted in the back cover and held laterally by the edge (4), and an elastically deformable stake (7), which is for immobilizing a plate-shaped part pierced with an aperture (11). The stake is mounted on the top surface of the flange and it is inserted into the aperture of the plate-shaped part. The bottom surface of the cover (3) further carries a projecting portion (8) that presses against the stake when the case is closed, so as to increase the external diameter of the stake and jam it in the aperture of the plate-shaped part. Elastic means (9) are also provided for returning the flange (6) in the direction of the cover (3) so as to hold the stake (7) jammed in the aperture in the plate-shaped part.

Abstract: An optical disk cassette has a disk eject mechanism that ejects a disk such as a DVD or CD. The disk eject mechanism has pushrod, transfer and kick out portions. The pushrod portion slides relative to a side of the cassette case. Pivotally mounted within the case, the kick out portion pushes a disk to eject it from the case. The transfer portion translates pushrod motion to motion of the kick out portion. In a preferred embodiment, the disk eject mechanism is a unitary body, with pushrod, transfer and kick out portions made homogeneously as a single entity, the pushrod portion being a resilient joining elbow. In another preferred embodiment, the disk eject mechanism has a transfer portion that is a rack and a pinion. The rack extends from the pushrod portion and the pinion is attached to or formed as part of the kick out portion.

Abstract: Software media packaging apparatus and associated method for manufacturing. The software media packaging apparatus may include first and second panels. The first and second panels may be connected to each other on three edges to define an enclosure. A media storage flap may be attached to the second panel and may be adapted to hold one or more software media. The media storage flap may be perforated with one or more perforations. Each perforation may be adapted to hold a software medium. The media storage flap may be foldable across the second panel. First and second sealer flaps may be connected to at least two edges of the first panel. The first and second sealer flaps may be adapted to fold over and attach to the enclosure and the media storage flap, thereby holding the media storage flap adjacent to and substantially coplanar with the second panel.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of a folded paper CD/DVD case. The case can be biodegradable, and uses reduced or minimal material. The case can be made without the use of cuts or glue, nor does the case require special equipment or machinery to manufacture. The case can hold plural media such as, e.g., two CDs or DVDs. The footprint of the case can be reduced or minimal, that is, e.g., only minimally larger than one or more CDs or DVDs it will hold. The case can have a pentagonal or pentagon-like shape.

Abstract: A carriage case, in which electronical parts are received for transportation, is provided as being capable of securely holding such parts therein and preventing them from being damaged and hampering dust from attaching on them with the removal of electrostatic charge and reducing gas detrimental to such parts to the minimum. The carriage case comprises: a case body having a base member and a cover member; and a sheet member that is made from an adhesive material of curable composition essentially consisting of component (A): a polyoxyalkylene based polymer having more than one alkenyl groups in one molecule, component (B): a compound having at least two hydrosilyl groups in one molecule and component (C): a hydrosilylation catalyst. The sheet member is applied on an inner bottom side surface of the base member and on the sheet member. The parts are attached so as to be securely positioned in the case.

Abstract: A disk placement and storage assembly for storage of disks includes a disk cassette and a disk slotter. The disk cassette includes a pair of side wall portions spanning between a pair of end portions, defining a disk receiving region. The side wall portions include a plurality of vertical slots for holding the disks. The disk slotter includes a top plate having a plurality of horizontal slots spanning across top surfaces of the disk cassette when the disk slotter is releasably coupled to the disk cassette, each one of the horizontal slots arranged and dimensioned to receive a disk as the disk is inserted through a horizontal slot in the disk slotter and into a pair of laterally opposing vertical slots of the disk cassette, each one of the plurality of horizontal slots located above and aligned with a pair of laterally opposing vertical slots in the disk cassette.

Abstract: A case for holding optical discs includes a primary blank formed of foldable material and having at least six interconnected panels. In certain of the panels of the primary blank a U-shaped cutout is formed, and in certain other panels a disc access cutout is formed. The panels are folded to form a folded primary blank. The folded primary blank is joined to an end blank, which is also folded to form a folded end blank, the folded primary blank and the folded end blank being joined together to define a folded composite blank. The folded composite blank is positioned between a front cover and a back cover of a cover piece.

The thickness of the upper cover gradually increases from the edge of the upper cover toward the center. Further, the base includes a hollow fastening portion and a third annular protrusion. An annular part is formed at the upper end of the fastening portion and has several slots. The fastening portion includes a central through-hole penetrating through the base. The thickness of the base gradually increases from the edge of the base toward the center. The disc package assembly may further include a thermal shrink film for wrapping over the disc package assembly and the discs.

Abstract: A data disc case includes a base panel and an one-hand operable arrangement which includes an affixing panel affixing on the base panel and a foldable panel extended from the affixing panel to foldably overlap on the base panel, wherein the affixing panel and foldable panel are extended edge to edge to form a cover panel on the base panel and to define a compartment between the cover panel and the base panel for accommodating a data disc therewithin. The foldable panel at the cover panel is movably overlapping with the base panel to foldably flip the foldable panel of the cover panel between an open position in a one-hand operable manner for exposing the data disc within the compartment to be accessed and an enclosed position for enclosing the data disc within the data disc case.

Abstract: A wafer-retaining unit has a plurality of vertically superimposed single-wafer retaining sections, each having a wafer-retaining frame abutting against only a lower end edge portion of the outer periphery of a semiconductor wafer, a wafer-securing frame disposed vertically movably relative to the wafer-retaining frame to abut against only an upper end edge portion of the outer periphery of the semiconductor wafer, and wafer lift members that lift the semiconductor wafer to a position where it is upwardly separate from the wafer-retaining frame and keeps the semiconductor wafer in this position. Consequently, a plurality of semiconductor wafers can be accommodated efficiently and safely without increasing the space between each pair of mutually adjacent semiconductor wafers. At the same time, the semiconductor wafers can be loaded and unloaded satisfactorily.

Abstract: A storage device for multiple optical discs in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes a front cover, a back cover, and a spine rotatably connecting the front cover and the back to allow for rotation between a closed position and an open position. A tray is rotatable coupled to the spine between the front and back covers and includes a first hub on a first surface operable to retain a first disc, and a second hub on a second surface operable to hold a second disc. The second hub is offset from the first hub such that the first disc does not overlap the second hub and the second disc does not overlap the first hub. A second tray may be rotatably coupled to the spine between the front and back covers, adjacent to the first tray. The second tray preferably includes a third hub on a first surface operable to retain a third disc and a fourth hub on a second surface operable to retain a fourth disc.

Abstract: A disc package assembly for packaging and accommodating multiple discs is provided. The disc package assembly includes an upper cover and a base. Abstract: Methods of making and using a cost-saving mailer, as well as the inventive mailer are described. To qualify for the lowest-cost, automated mailing of discs (including CD, DVD and similarly sized objects), the mailing system has a mailer of cardboard sized to enclose a standard disc around which the cardboard is folded; and glue is placed in ribbons along the side edges of the cardboard to seal the side edges of the mailer and in two spots to stabilize the disc centrally in the mailer, the two spots being located away from the mailer opening and on either side of the enclosed disc, thereby preventing the disc from moving up and down or side to side after the disc is sealed within the mailer.

Abstract: An innovative storage case for containing a media disk is disclosed herein. The disk case includes a base; a cover pivotally connected with the base and movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration; and a tray disposed on the base for receiving the media disk. The tray is slidable above the base between an internal, locked position and an external, released position. When the tray is forced inward from the locked position, the tray is pushed out to the external, released position.

Abstract: A package for holding an item, and a method of making the same are provided. The package comprises a plurality of page spread blanks, a front endsheet blank and a back endsheet blank. The blanks comprise a disc receiving opening and a pair of disc securing lugs. The disc securing lugs are adapted to contact an outer periphery of an item placed into the disc receiving opening and removed from the disc receiving opening. The front endsheet blank is connected to one of the plurality of page spread blanks and the back endsheet blank is connected along to another of the plurality of page spread blanks.

Abstract: The invention relates to a stabilizer suitable for stabilizing disks of a heat pack, wherein the stabilizer includes at least two elongate parallel pushers of height compatible with the height of the heat pack, each movable in a direction perpendicular to the pushers, the pushers being associated with an irreversible driver system enabling the pushers to be moved apart or towards each other, the pushers extending in service so as to face an inside diameter of the disks.

Abstract: A container for holding and transporting a plurality of substantially planar objects, such as photographs, along with a CD or DVD and/or a memory card or multiple memory cards. The container is composed of front and back covers movably connected by a spine member, and a clear plastic sleeve may be attached to the outside of the device to allow the insertion of labeling materials. A pocket for storing planar objects is fastened to the inside of one of the covers. The container contains a means for securing a CD or DVD, which may be an engaging element attached to the inside of one of the covers or a pocket. The container also contains a means for securing a memory card. The memory card securing means may be a pocket attached to the inside of one of the covers, a partition installed in the pocket for planar objects, or a clip or set of clips affixed to the inside of one of the covers.

Abstract: A merchandise storage container includes a merchandise holder that holds the merchandise with respect to a container body. The merchandise holder is fabricated from one material that is generally robust while the remaining portions of the container are fabricated from a material that is weaker and may be a recycled material. On configuration of the invention holds media discs with a holder having a disc hub at one end and an edge release tab at its other end. The disc holder is secured to a recyclable container body that defines at least a portion of the disc nest.

The lock is displaceable between a locked position wherein the lock engages the media disc(s) to positively secure the media disc(s) in the media well(s) when the media package is closed and an unlocked position wherein the media disc(s) may be freely removed from the media well(s) when the media package is open.

Abstract: An optical disk (“compact disk,” “CD,” “DVD,” or other “optical disk”) case is disclosed which utilizes spaces within such “CD Jewel Cases” to store, transport, display, sample, and market other products. The largest of such spaces unused within CD Cases is a hinge space located at or near the point where the bottom and top covers are joined in a movable “hinge.” A marketing method for presenting two or more items to a prospective purchaser using the CD Case of the present invention is also disclosed for co-marketing products, or premiums or gifts offered with products, in which items may then be stored and transported with the optical disk and its case, and eventually presented to a potential purchaser in the same CD Case at the “point of sale” for the optical disk or the additional item.

The corner hinges have two recessed hinge arms of the hinge part and two matching recessed hinge walls. The lid part is provided with protection walls which extend at the outside of the housing substantially parallel to the hinge arms so as to protect the hinge arms from external mechanical influences. The distance between each hinge arm and the facing parallel portion off its opposite protection wall has a value lying in the range between 6.6 mm and 13.1 mm.

Abstract: An optical disc advertising and security method that includes the use of a promotional label that is coaxially aligned and adhesively attached to the top surface of an optical disc. The promotional label includes an upper label layer and a lower label layer. Printed on the top layer surface of each label layer is promotional indicia. In one embodiment, the upper label layer is slightly larger in diameter or the same diameter as the lower label layer so that the lower label is covered and unable to be removed directly from the optical disc when the container is initially opened by a consumer. In a second embodiment, the promotional label is made of two label layers permanently adhesively attached together with a RFID tag disposed between them.

Abstract: A media storage apparatus includes a frame, a shaft, and a plurality of retainers for retaining a plurality of portable planar storage media. The plurality of retainers is supported by the shaft and rotatable about the shaft from a selectable position to a selected position. The apparatus further includes a retainer selection mechanism, coupled to the frame, that traverses the frame to cause selected ones of the plurality of retainers traversed by the retainer selection mechanism to rotate in sequence from the selectable position to the selected position.

Abstract: A disk case configured generally as a traditional jewel case but with the base and lid formed of resilient materials such as polypropylene. Pivot bosses inwardly project from rearwardly extending tabs of the lid into main openings formed in upstanding side walls of the base, the main openings having radially inwardly projecting tabs that engage an annular groove of each pivot boss, a slot opening being formed in each side wall proximate one of the tabs for resiliently permitting outward deflection of its associated tab during insertion of the pivot bosses into the main openings. Main ramps can be formed in the side walls and a bevel formed on each pivot boss for facilitating spreading of the tabs during assembly, and the bevel can be aligned with one of the tabs in the closed position of the lid for facilitating full entry of the pivot bosses into the main openings.

Abstract: A case for storing a storage medium device, such as a compact disc or digital video disc, wherein the storage medium itself is used to transition the case from an unlocked position to a locked position, and vice versa. The case includes a front cover having a pocket, wherein when the storage medium is loaded in the pocket, the storage medium may be accessed via a latch window provided in the front cover, and moved to transition the case between the locked and unlocked positions. The latch window also provides the user with visual access to the interior of the pocket to determine whether a storage medium is loaded therein.

Abstract: A package made from a biodegradable material, such as paperboard, utilizes multi-layered sheets of relatively thin material which can be cut to desired shapes relatively inexpensively and folded into adjacent layers which are adhesively attached to one another to form the package. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the package defines a book-like package having an outer envelope with one side defining a sleeve for receiving a disk and an opposite side which receives a laminated multi-layered holder having a pocket in the shape of a memory chip/card or other electronic component to be held therein.

Abstract: A compact disk package, printable on a single paper board blank. The printed package is foldable into at least three sections, namely a front section, a back section connected to the front section along a common, foldable side edge and a CD-holding section attached to the top edge of the back section by a foldable flap. The CD-holding section according to one aspect of the invention is generally square shaped, with a width greater than the diameter of the CD. Two curved slits are cut into the CD-holding section, the arc of the slits corresponding to the curvature of the CD.

Abstract: An optical disk cassette has a cassette case with a disk retention device. A free end of the disk retention device acts upon an edge of the optical disk, opposably displacing during insertion and ejection of the optical disk. The device and disk are at equilibrium when the free end is displaced by the full diameter of the disk. When the disk is displaced in the insertion or ejection direction, the free end urges the disk in the insertion or ejection direction, assisting with the optical disk insertion or ejection respectively. Embodiments may have the disk retention device including one or more retainers. Each retainer may have a free end and opposing fixed end, and be flexible or have a flexible region. The free end slides along or otherwise contacts the circumferential edge of the optical disk, exerting a force upon it during optical disk insertion, retention and ejection.

Abstract: A themolaminating film for receiving a blister portion in the construction of a reusable package is described. A base blister portion configured to receive some form of media or material is molded from a formable heat sealable polymer such as PETG. A film consisting of a first layer of an amorphous polyester such as APET for heat sealing to the PETG, a second layer of a polyester such as PET, and an adhesive layer is used to laminate a graphical paper based cover thereby allowing the laminated cover to be heat sealed to the blister portion. In a preferred embodiment, the PET and APET are preferably coextruded.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a disc holder for storing a plurality of discs comprising: a base; a spindle extending vertically from the base, where the spindle enables the stacking of the plurality of discs; a top cover, where the top cover locks to the base by using two sliding clasps, where one clasp is one side of the top cover and the other clasp is on the opposite side. The base may include three prongs extending vertically from three respective sides of the base in order to keep discs aligned. The enclosure may further include a receptacle for the top of the spindle and a swivel handle for carrying the unit. The plurality of discs may include compact discs and DVD's or a combination of both.

Abstract: A merchandise storage container having a sleeve and a pair of pull out merchandise holders that are both stored in the same sleeve but may be pulled out to extended positions from opposite sides of the sleeve. The sleeve is configured to allow the two holders to be pulled out to their extended positions simultaneously. The sleeve is also configured to allow the holders to be pushed back to their retracted positioned simultaneously without interfering with one another. The sleeve is configured to prevent the holders from jamming during the operation of the container.
