Abstract: A data disc case includes a base panel and an one-hand operable arrangement which includes an affixing panel affixing on the base panel and a foldable panel extended from the affixing panel to foldably overlap on the base panel, wherein the affixing panel and foldable panel are extended edge to edge to form a cover panel on the base panel and to define a compartment between the cover panel and the base panel for accommodating a data disc therewithin. The foldable panel at the cover panel is movably overlapping with the base panel to foldably flip the foldable panel of the cover panel between an open position in a one-hand operable manner for exposing the data disc within the compartment to be accessed and an enclosed position for enclosing the data disc within the data disc case.

Abstract: Software media packaging apparatus and associated method for manufacturing. The software media packaging apparatus may include first and second panels. The first and second panels may be connected to each other on three edges to define an enclosure. A media storage flap may be attached to the second panel and may be adapted to hold one or more software media. The media storage flap may be perforated with one or more perforations. Each perforation may be adapted to hold a software medium. The media storage flap may be foldable across the second panel. First and second sealer flaps may be connected to at least two edges of the first panel. The first and second sealer flaps may be adapted to fold over and attach to the enclosure and the media storage flap, thereby holding the media storage flap adjacent to and substantially coplanar with the second panel.

Abstract: An electronic media storage apparatus includes a lower housing having a floor, opposed side walls and a rear wall. A front wall is movable between open and closed configurations. The apparatus includes a cover having a top portion and opposed first and second sides extending downwardly therefrom. The lower housing side walls, lower housing rear wall, and the front wall collectively define a continuous lip at an upper end of the lower housing and an upper end of the front wall when the front wall is at the closed configuration. The cover is removably coupled to the lower housing and the front wall. When the front wall is at the closed configuration and the cover is coupled to the lower housing and front wall, a hermetic cavity is formed between the lower housing, the front wall, and the cover; the cavity being sized to receive an electronic media item.

Abstract: A disk holding device for packaging hard drive disks includes a base, a cassette that is received against the base and a cover that is received over the cassette. The base includes a first locking surface. The cover includes a latch arm near an end of the cover. The latch arm has a second locking surface against which the first locking surface is received to secure the base and the cover together. At least one of the first locking surface or the second locking surface is moveable in an inward direction toward an interior of the cassette to unlock the locking surfaces so that the base and cover can be separated to open the disk holding device.

Abstract: A retaining structure with double-face carrier function includes a carrier unit, an elastic unit and a retaining unit. The carrier unit has a carrier body and a through hole passing through the carrier body. The elastic unit has a plurality of elastic arms extended from an inner surface of the through hole. The retaining unit has a plurality of retaining elements passing through the through hole. Each retaining element has a retaining portion connected to at least two of the elastic arms and extended above and under the through hole, a pressing portion extended inwards from one end of the retaining portion and at least one protrusion portion disposed on an outer surface of the retaining portion and adjacent to the pressing portion. The pressing portions above the through hole are arranged alternately and the pressing portions under the through hole are arranged alternately.

Abstract: Protective modular holders for CDs and DVDs can be assembled into a storage assembly from which each disc and its accompanying literature can be removed without opening an individual holder. Two outer elements and an inner element form a module which receives two components, such as a pair of discs, or a disc and a booklet. Each side of the inner member cooperates with the corresponding outer element to form a disc receiving opening with openings aligned or at 90° or 180° offsets. The units are connected at the corners to adjacent units with the openings in selected alignments to form a storage assembly. The assembly may be expanded by connecting additional holder units. The outer elements and inner members cooperatively form a slot and label rail for receiving a label when the elements are joined together. The inner holder member surfaces may include a disc cleaner.

Abstract: An improved long box package for prerecorded media includes an elongated substantially rectangular box enclosure having a front wall, a rear wall, and a pair of first and second side walls. The box enclosure further includes an open top end, a bottom end adapted to be closed, and an interior shelf disposed between the top end and the bottom end for supporting the bottom end of a media case to be carried by the package. An opening is formed in the front wall that is contiguous with the open top end and which extends toward the shelf. In combination, the open top end and the contiguous front wall opening define an open channel for receiving the media case. The open channel facilitates rapid placement of the media case in the package by virtue of the media case not being restricted to insertion through the top end only.

Abstract: The Disc Book is a book format for products that include a CD, DVD, vinyl LP, or any other type of disc. The Disc Book package incorporates within its design a booklet of 3 pages, which forms the stable exterior for additional pages to be attached within the booklet if desired. The product is designed for its ease of manufacture, infinitely adjustable size, and plastic-free construction. When the Disc Book is closed, the booklet is completely contained within the package. It is composed of heavyweight paper or card stock that can be printed on both sides through any traditional means.

Abstract: A compact disc storage and protective enclosure for securely positioning a disc having a flat circular shape. The enclosure incorporates a unitary element comprising of a single piece of durable and flexible material having a back section, a left section that folds across the back section, a right section that folds across both the left and back sections, a bottom section that folds across both the right and left sections, and a top section that folds across the bottom section. A disc is positioned within the enclosure that also includes a gap having a convex shape into which each of the left and right sections can flex in order to absorb an impact.

Abstract: An optical disk (“compact disk,” “CD,” “DVD,” or other “optical disk”) case is disclosed which utilizes spaces within such “CD Jewel Cases” to store, transport, display, sample, and market other products. The largest of such spaces unused within CD Cases is a hinge space located at or near the point where the bottom and top covers are joined in a movable “hinge.” A marketing method for presenting two or more items to a prospective purchaser using the CD Case of the present invention is also disclosed for co-marketing products, or premiums or gifts offered with products. In such method, additional items, which may be solid or liquid, single or many, and are often consumables (such as perfume), may then be stored and transported with the optical disk and its case, and eventually presented to a potential purchaser in the same CD Case at the “point of sale” for the optical disk or the additional item.

Abstract: A secure carrier assembly for media devices. The assembly includes a carrier having a front panel, a rear panel, and an intermediate panel. At least one panel of the carrier comprises a durable polymeric material, such as a lens sheet assembly including a lens sheet, and an image layer. The carrier with lens sheet assembly provides enhanced security features, increased durability, and eye-catching features compared to traditional carrier or packaging assemblies.

Abstract: A sheet secures at least one media or marketing material, such as a CD, onto the sheet for placement as a display or for sale. The sheet warns shoppers that a CD has been removed. The sheet has at least one flap extending through the center of the CD leaving the upper half visible. The flaps are formed with cut lines as a radial line, a band, a business card, or an artistic flap. Generally opposite the flap, one tab grips the CD. A baseline, also a cut line, extends about 1.5 times the thickness of the CD to each end of the cut line. A CD is inserted into the rear of the sheet below the tab and the flaps to secure it upon the panel. The cut line, flaps, and tab can be used singly or in multiples. The CD remains secured until a consumer breaks the flaps after purchase.

Also disclosed are interior partitions of the base and lid that have edgewise proximal engagement, a disk presser structure for holding edge extremities of the disk in place during mishandling of the container, and rib members that block entry of a destructive blade in an endwise path through regions of facing contact adjacent to living hinges of the container.

Abstract: A combination compact disk player and jewelry box is disclosed having a housing, a compact disk (CD) player internally mounted in the housing with built-in compact disk storage. Mechanism for playing the CDs is provided and at least one slide out drawer is provided for holding jewelry and other trinkets therein.

Abstract: The present invention provides a media storage case that is configured to resiliently hold up to six media discs on a single hub. In one construction, a first panel and a second panel are joined by a hinge and configured to securely hold up to six media discs on a common hub through transit and distribution, using a cantilevered disc retention finger and/or a spine disc retention fin. The media storage case can hold multiple media discs and accompanying literature, while having a minimized case thickness.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for securing data on a removable memory device, which is removably coupled to and accessible by a computing apparatus, are disclosed. Upon an attempt by a user to access the removable memory device, a manual key is recovered by a manual key interface device. This manual key is used to authenticate the identity of the user. Upon the authentication where the user identity corresponds to authorized access to the memory device, the access is enabled. Upon the authentication, where the user identity does not correspond to authorized access to the memory device, the access is prohibited.

Abstract: An optical disc advertising and security method that includes the use of a promotional label that is coaxially aligned and adhesively attached to the top surface of an optical disc. The promotional label includes an upper label layer and a lower label layer. Attached to each layer is a laterally extending tab. Printed on the top layer surface of each label layer is promotional indicia. In one embodiment, the upper label layer is slightly larger in diameter than the lower label layer so that the lower label is covered and hidden from view by the upper label layer. In a second embodiment, the promotional label is made of two label layers permanently adhesively attached together with a RFID tag disposed between them.

Abstract: A case for holding a DVD or other device may include a flexible clip arm for, e.g., retaining printed information about the DVD, holding the DVD, and/or locking one or more DVDs in place. An apparatus includes a body configured to retain a first disc. The apparatus further includes a retention device coupled to the body and configured to apply pressure to material disposed between the retention device and the body and thereby to assist in retaining the material between the retention device and the body. A method includes inserting a first disc into a container configured to retain the first disc. The method further includes securing material within the container using a retention device coupled to the container and configured to apply pressure to the material and thereby to assist in retaining the material within the container. Other implementations focus on holding or locking a DVD, or other device.

Abstract: A one-piece, injection molded intended for display by positioning it upright includes a spine, a front cover coupled to the spine via a first living hinge, and a back cover coupled to the spine via a second living hinge. When in a closed configuration, the case has generally semi-cylindrical sidewalls which intersect in generally quarter-spherical corners. The case incorporates a flexible, polymeric sleeve that wraps around the spine sidewall, is bonded to the front and back covers near the edges of the closure sidewall.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a card assembly comprising a cover and a data storage means. The cover comprises a back sheet, a front sheet and an intermediate sheet, which are integral and connected by one folding line area respectively. The intermediate sheet has a through hole adapted to the data storage means and the data storage means is placed in the through hole. The back sheet, the front sheet and the intermediate sheet are folded together along the folding line areas and permanently attached together, wherein the data storage means is enclosed in a pocket. The back sheet has a tear portion, which is operable to open the pocket and expose a part of the data storage means for enabling removal of the data storage means from the pocket and reinsertion thereof into the pocket. The present invention also relates to a blank for a cover for such a card assembly and to method for manufacturing such a card assembly.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for holding information storage media such as a disk (4) having an aperture therein. The apparatus includes, among other elements, a base portion and engaging means for releasably engaging the information storage media via said aperture. The engaging means includes at least one arm resiliently cantilevered to the base portion, retaining means for engaging and retaining the information storage media on the apparatus, and release means. The depression of the release means disengages the retaining means and the information storage media. A locating means is provided for receiving a security member as it is inserted beneath the engaging means in a first direction parallel to the base portion so as to inhibit operation of the release means. The locating means is arranged to locate the security member laterally as it is inserted beneath the engaging means.

Abstract: An insert for framing a standard sized DVD face paper insert/standard compact disc picture/booklet insert inserted into a standard jewel box case and for hanging the standard jewel box case, including a generally rectangular single sheet of paper. The generally rectangular single sheet of paper includes a hanging portion and a framing portion. The hanging portion is separatable from the framing portion along a cut line. The framing portion has a frame. In a first embodiment, the frame folds over the standard sized DVD face paper insert at all four sides once the standard sized DVD face paper insert is placed on the framing portion, to thereby form a framed standard sized DVD face paper insert for insertion into a front half of a DVD case.

Abstract: A disk storage system for disks having a central opening includes a set of hingedly connectable disk trays, a pair of axle members for attachment to one of the trays on an axle axis thereof, and a storage container having hinge pedestals for engagement by the axle members. Hinged connections between adjacent trays is by tabs that are pivotable on respective hinge axes of the different trays, the tabs being engagable with respective tab cavities of adjacent trays.

Abstract: An improved digital media enclosure having two primary components, a sleeve into which the digital media is placed, and an envelope into which the sleeve is placed. At least one surface of the sleeve is printed with a plurality of identification markings on at least one of the sleeve's outer surfaces. The identification markings are each positioned at a first radial distance from a center of the sleeve in regularly angled intervals around the center. The envelope includes a pocket into which the sleeve fits. There is an opening in the envelope pocket located at substantially the first radial distance from the planar center of the sleeve pocket. The opening is also positioned at a same angle as the identification markings, such that any of the identification markings will show through the opening when the sleeve is placed in the sleeve pocket in any of its possible orientations.

Abstract: To develop optical discs stored while being stacked and to load them to a plurality of recording/reproducing devices simultaneously. Trays for mounting optical discs are stacked to configure an optical disc transportation body, and the portions being exposed without overlapping when the stacked trays are viewed from the stacking direction are utilized as tray operation portions for handling. Supporting portions abutting against the tray operation portions inherent to respective trays in one to one correspondence are fixed with an interval in the vertical direction to the frames configuring a tray distributing/holding portion. The tray operation portion of each tray is held by the supporting portion at each position by moving the optical disc transportation body downward along the frames, and intervals corresponding to the arrangement pitch of recording/reproducing devices are formed between respective trays.

Abstract: A merchandise storage container having a sleeve and a pair of pull out merchandise holders that are both stored in the same sleeve but may be pulled out to extended positions from opposite sides of the sleeve. The sleeve is configured to allow the two holders to be pulled out to their extended positions simultaneously. The sleeve is also configured to allow the holders to be pushed back to their retracted positioned simultaneously without interfering with one another. The sleeve is configured to prevent the holders from jamming during the operation of the container.

Abstract: A Mailer Pouch for Data Discs. The pouch qualifies for USPS bulk mailing rates. The mailer is formed from a single piece of card stock or paper that is folded twice. Adhesive is applied along opposing edges and to form a disc pocket in the bottom. In order to protect against tampering, as well as making opening the mailer easier, the pouch has a tab attached to a tear strip embedded within the pouch. Display surfaces are provided on the front and rear portions of the finished mailer pouch, as well as on the inner surface of the flap.
