For Holding A Grooved Phonograph Disc Patents (Class 206/309)
  • Patent number: 4781292
Abstract: Apparatus capable of storing or displaying a plurality of compact discs, cassettes or other similar objects is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing and a plurality of pivotable members rotatably positioned therein. Each pivotable member may hold one or more objects, each object being positioned within a compartment in the pivotable member. In one embodiment, each pivotable member includes a base plate, a rear wall, a pair of side walls, and a pair of members which together form a front wall. The front wall members cooperate with the rear wall, which may include clamping ribs, to provide a clamping force which substantially fixedly positions the compact discs within the pivotable member so that the display rack may be positioned throughout a range extending from substantially horizontal to substantially vertical. The clamping force may be adjusted by varying the dimensions and geometry of a slot associated with the clamping means.

  • Patent number: 4780868
Abstract: The cartridge comprises a shutter for closing the openings (18) for access to the disk on the two faces thereof. The shutter is formed by a hollow bar (24) carrying two closure plates (21) and slidable in both directions along a guide (26) adjacent to an edge 19 of the cartridge. A tension spring (28) which passes through the hollow bar 24 is connected to two blocks 30 which are slidable in the guide (26) and which are arranged to be entrained by the bar (24). The trailing block cannot follow the bar because a tongue (31) on the block abuts the end of an elongated lug (32) extending along the central part of the guide (26).The reading device comprises a case for receiving the cartridge and a lever which is rotated when the cartridge is inserted and carries an element for pushing the shutter aside. The lever 53 is controlled by a cam slot carried by a slide member which is manually actuable to provide for expulsion of the cartridge.

Abstract: A retainer for holding and protecting an optical disk is molded from plastic, to form a thin, flat, rectangular base member having a shallow rectangular cavity in the front surface thereof. A shallow circular cavity is centrally located within the rectangular cavity. The disk is resiliently held within the circular cavity, and can be removed by finger lifting. The retainer's top edge includes a hook recessed into its flat top edge. This hook allows the retainer to be vertically hung from, and perpendicular to, a horizontal storage rod. The retainer includes short, spaced posts located within the top portion of the rectangular cavity. A flat storage envelope mounts on these posts, to overlay the disk's exposed surface. The two external, vertically extending side walls of the base each include a flat, protruding, label surface located at the center of the side wall. Two flat box shaped containers are provided. • Patent number: 4676374
Abstract: A rigid holder for three and one-half inch hard case floppy diskettes. The holder contains 12 diskettes in an array on each side, with each array having two columns of three rows of diskette receptacles. The diskettes are received in the receptacles and the floors of the receptacles in each column are disposed in substantially parallel spaced apart planes to position the entry wall of one receptacle above the base wall of the next adjacent receptacle in the column. The floors serve as common divider floors for corresponding receptacles in both arrays. Sidewalls are also provided to prevent lateral movement of the diskette from the receptacle. A resilient tab holds the diskette in the receptacle. The receptacles are rigidly connected together so that the holder maintains the diskettes in a rigid substantially planar page orientation.

  • Patent number: 4658962
Abstract: A carton suitable for dispensing flat, flexible bags and the like, having a top cover comprising a top panel, opposing side walls, and an end wall formed by at least one inwardly folded end panel extending from one of the opposing side walls, the end panel being slightly shorter in height than the opposing side walls so that the end panel forms an elongated bag dispensing slot in the end wall along an edge of the top panel; and an elongated flap extending from the edge of the top panel and being folded inwardly to overlap the end panel, the flap being removably secured to the end panel, thereby adding strength to the end wall while at the same time covering the bag dispensing slot.

  • Patent number: 4655344
Abstract: Easily operable apparatus for storing and retrieving recording media, magnetic tape cassettes and compact discs for example, is characterized by a housing and at least first recording media carrier slidably supported therein for movement between a stored position and a recording medium removal position under the influence of an ejection spring. The storage apparatus is provided with a locking mechanism, for retaining the carrier in the stored position, which will not be unintentionally released in response to rapid acceleration or deceleration when the storage apparatus is mounted within a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4650072
Abstract: A magazine for sound recording media suitable for vehicle installation comprises an outer housing which defines, through the use of a plurality of inwardly extending ribs, a recess which receives the inner housing or housings which include the media receiving drawers or sliders. An impact absorbing frame is provided around the access opening at the front of the outer housing. The outer housing is mounted, by means of integral hubs, from a support by means of a yoke. The hubs are relatively rotatable with respect to the yoke to permit the outer housing to be positioned in a desired angular orientation.

  • Patent number: 4645074
Abstract: The invention discloses a system for the organized storage of a large number of sheet- or disk-like record carriers, particularly of diskettes or microfiches. A container for holding the record carriers has a printed form that has line markings corresponding to a number of record carriers which have additional line markings on their outside edges. The line markings located on the edge of the record carrier are aligned with matching line markings on a printed form on the container. Several containers can be stacked or arranged side-by-side by attachments on the outside surfaces of the containers in order to combine the system simply and easily with other systems of this type into appropriate blocks. A locking plate also can be provided.

  • Patent number: 4641747
Abstract: A storage case and holder combination has an ejection spring which urges an inserted holder outward. The holder is retained by a resilient latching arm having a pin which engages in a latching groove that deflects the pin in two orthogonal directions during insertion and latching. To keep the pin from resiliently moving out of the groove in response to a pull on the holder, a stop on the storage case prevents movement of the pin in the undesired direction while the holder is in the latched position. The latching arm and ejection spring are formed as a unitary molding with a cover portion which attaches to, and preferably forms part of, the rear wall of the case when shaped into position.
