Patent number: 5454469Abstract: A lens box for safe storage and transportation of optical lens blanks having vertically spaced apart top and bottom panels; two side walls, opposite closure panels and a plurality of gussets therebetween, all connected to the top and bottom panels and defining an enclosure space therebetween. The gussets are inclined upwardly and inwardly from the bottom panel, tangentially contacting the lens blank restricting the vertical and horizontal movement of the lens blank. The invention also includes a method of packaging an optical lens blank for secure and safe storage, including, providing a lens box having at least inclined side gussets; inserting the lens blank in the box causing the lens blank side wall to contact and frictionally engage the gussets thereby restricting vertical and horizontal movement of the lens blank in the box; and closing the box.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1994Date of Patent: October 3, 1995Assignee: Malnove, Inc.Inventors: Thomas F. Patent number: 5439100Abstract: A protective package system for containing a delivery cartridge for volatile substances such as fragrances, deodorizers, air fresheners and the like, wherein the cartridge includes an active ingredient reservoir with a permeable surface through which substances may move from the reservoir. The packaging system preferably includes a cartridge container having a storage area for receiving the cartridge, and a substantially open top with an outer periphery. A peelable lid is sealingly attached to the outer periphery of the container, and a blotter is attached to at least a portion of the inner surface of the peelable lid and preferably spaced inwardly from the outer edge of the lid so as not to interfere with the sealing attachment of the lid to the container. The blotter is thereby held in face-to-face contact with the permeable surface of the cartridge within the packaging system when the lid is in sealed condition and remains captively attached to the lid upon opening of the packaging system.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1993Date of Patent: August 8, 1995Assignee: The Dial Corp.Inventors: Andrew D. Patent number: 5438773Abstract: To attain this, the present invention essentially relates to a fiber declumper device for use in conjunction with a fiber-filled construction such as a down-filled sleeping bag during treatment of such construction in a rotary drum dryer which comprises a solid foot-shaped structure formed of dense heat-resistant plastic, rubber or the like. This device is placed in the dryer along with the fiber-filled construction to be dried and, as the dryer drum rotates, the device preferably in the shape of a foot, beats on the fiber-filled construction preventing clumping of the fiber contained therein. A cavity within the beating member device contains heat-activated scent material which will impart a pleasant odor to the construction being heated.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1994Date of Patent: August 8, 1995Inventor: Rebecca J. Patent number: 5431997Abstract: A porous web material for making infusion packages having enhanced mechanical seam integrity is obtained by treating the entire fibrous web material with an aqueous emulsion of a hydrophobic agent selected from the group consisting of high molecular weight cross-linked acrylic polymers, silicones, fluorohydrocarbons, paraffins, alkyl ketene dimers and stearylated materials. The hydrophobic agent, which may also act as a strength imparting binder, is preferably applied as a saturating treatment. The treated web is subsequently dried to insolublize the agent on the web. The web exhibits no appreciable water climb when measured using water at a temperature of about 100.degree. C. and no substantial loss of infusion characteristics while providing less than 10 percent failure in a mechanical seam therein when exposed to boiling water.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1993Date of Patent: July 11, 1995Assignee: The Dexter CorporationInventors: Peter C.
