  • Patent number: 8123046
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for removing fluids, particularly entrained and/or adherent fluids, from drill cuttings created during the well drilling process. An apron assembly collects drill cuttings and deposits such cuttings on a central rotor having multiple distinct chambers. A first chamber is loaded with drill cuttings. The central rotor thereafter cycles to a second position wherein a pressure seal is formed around the loaded first chamber. An air knife or similar device is used to blast compressed gas at the cuttings in the sealed chamber and force the cuttings against a screen. Solid components of the cuttings remain in the sealed chamber, while liquid components pass through the screen and are collected using an auger assembly. Following such separation, the rotor is cycled again, allowing dried cuttings to empty from the first chamber. The process is repeated for each chamber of the rotor.

According to the invention, the filtration system comprises a device intended to reduce the clogging of the filter during the functioning of the pump. Thus, the filtration system functions for longer before it is necessary to proceed with its cleaning or replacement.

Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a wastewater treatment system using a superconducting magnetic separator that can wash the magnetic filter efficiently. The system comprises in a bore of a superconducting magnet a removably built-up multiunit magnetic filter consisting of a plurality of single-unit magnetic filters. The multiunit magnetic filter has a total longitudinal length at least equal or greater than that of the superconducting magnet. During excitation of the superconducting magnet, a single-unit magnetic filter is removed from the upstream side (sewage side) of the multiunit magnetic filter by pushing in another single-unit magnetic filter from the downstream side (clean water side), and washed and returned to the downstream side again.

Abstract: An apparatus for separating solid matter from a liquid stream, where the apparatus includes a generally cylindrical separation panel surrounding an interior space, which is oriented so as to have a substantially vertical longitudinal axis. The separation panel has a plurality of vertically and horizontally spaced openings which are adapted to remove solid material larger than a predetermined size from liquid passing through the separation panel. The apparatus also includes a chamber surrounding the separation panel and providing a chamber portion into which the liquid passes after passing through the separation panel. The apparatus may further include an inlet positioned below the separation panel, through which the liquid stream is delivered from a bottom opening of the separation panel to the interior space and which is arranged such that the liquid circulates about the axis so as to pass the separation panel, and an outlet extending from the chamber portion.

  • Patent number: 7452463
Abstract: Provided are a treatment apparatus for removing fluorine content from water to be treated and a method of treating water to be treated using the same. Water to be treated, containing fluorine, is introduced into a treatment tank over a first path. Slaked lime is added to the water to be treated over a second path. Calcium chloride is added to the water to be treated over a third path. Thus, the fluorine contained in the water to be treated combines with calcium forming slaked lime or calcium chloride, thus yielding calcium fluoride, which is immobilized. When a filter film immersed in the water to be treated is used for filtration, the calcium fluoride contained in the water to be treated is concentrated.
