  • Patent number: 6811685
Abstract: A self-cleaning strainer which may be installed upstream of a heat exchanger to prevent debris greater than a critical size from reaching the heat exchanger. The strainer is preferably mounted just upstream of a heat exchanger in order to minimize the possibility of debris reaching the heat exchanger. The strainer comprises a screen element which can be advanced across the flow path of the fluid between two rollers. The screen element is placed so that the fluid must flow across the screen element face to continue through the process pipe; the screen may be perpendicular or parallel to the fluid flow axis of the strainer body or at an intermediate angle to it. Flow blocking members are used so as to direct the flow to pass through the screen element.

Abstract: A filtering device for a spinning head for producing plastic threads. The spinning head has a housing in which the plastic melt flows through a filter element under pressure before exiting the spinnerets. The filter element is provided with a filtering material that is subjected to an axial contact pressure through a distributor device, according to the degree of pressure of the melt. This contact pressure acts upon the sealing edges of the filter element to close the sealing gaps. The special geometrical configuration of the filter element and/or its elasticity guarantee advantageous filtering in terms of energy. The filtering system is resistant to pressure and provides good, permanent sealing.

Abstract: A sleeve or wrap that fits over a cartridge type filter whereby enhancing the effectiveness of that filter. A preferred embodiment of the invention is to fabricate this sleeve or wrap using the category of material commonly referred to as “nonwoven” taking advantage of one or more of the functional properties possible with the composition of this material such as the ability to capture large debris, filter out chemical elements, absorb oils and many other advantages beneficial to the filtering process. This sleeve or wrap may be fabricated as a one piece tube that slides snugly over the filter. Supplied as a blanket or wrap with a thin strip of hook material along one edge similar to that used in a “Velcro tm” hook and loop fastening system and with the nonwoven material of the wrap acting as the loop so the wrap may be fit snugly over a broad range of diameter filters.

Abstract: The invention relates to a filter cloth for a filter press and to a method for producing said filter cloth. The inventive filter cloth has a filtration section through which the filtrate reaches a filter element of the filter press, and an edging section which rests against the edge of the filter element. The filtration area is provided with a cloth that differs from that of the edging section. The filtration area is woven from monofil yarns while multifil yarns are woven into the edging section.

Abstract: A twist-on renewable filter comprising a one-piece hollow housing, made of polymeric material having a threaded adapter for attachment to a distribution head assembly. The filter housing is fabricated from components that are made of a polymeric material that are fused together to form the one-piece hollow housing. A filter media assembly is rigidly bonded at both ends within the housing. The renewable filter has an infinite life and can be removed and cleaned, for example, by reverse flushing the filter with a cleaning solution. A bypass valve 250 is provided within the filter that is designed to provide full closure for an infinite life. The bypass valve 250 is fully located within the one-piece hollow housing such that it cannot be disabled or tampered with. The bypass valve 250 functions to allow sufficient fluid to bypass the filter media when the filter media has become contaminated and will not permit the full volume of the normal oil stream to be filtered.

Abstract: A method for making a screen assembly for a vibratory separator, which, in certain aspects, includes placing a first layer of screening material below a glue application apparatus, and applying with the glue apparatus an amount of glue in a pattern to a portion of the first layer of screening material, unrolling part of a second layer from a second roll and positioning the part of the second layer adjacent part of the first layer to which glue has been applied, moving the part of the second layer and the part of the first layer between opposed rotatable spaced-apart rollers to press together the part of the second layer and the part of the first layer to form a pressed-together layer of first and second layers of screening material. In certain aspects hot glue is used and is cooled following application of the second layer on the first layer.

Abstract: A laminated modular water filter includes superposed annular plates. A filter unit is disposed between each adjacent pair of the annular plates. The annular plates include a top plate, a bottom plate, a plurality of intermediate plates, and at least one flow-guiding plate sandwiched between two of the intermediate plates. Each of the top plate, the intermediate plates, and the bottom plate has an annular outer passage unit in fluid communication with a curved outer passage unit in the flow-guiding plate. Dirty water is introduced into two side openings in the top plate, and flows into central holes in the annular plates via the filter units so as to form filtered water. Solid particles in the dirty water are guided into two side openings in the bottom plate via the annular outer passage units and the curved outer passage unit.
