  • Patent number: 5766472
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a filter assembly having a filter element with a plurality of openings encapsulated in a filter element carrier in a first molding operation, which may include formation of first and second channels on first and second side portions of the filter element carrier. One or more first holes are also formed through the filter element carrier in the first operation, wherein the first holes interconnect the first side portion of the filter element carrier and the second side portion of the filter element carrier so as to expose filter element portions encapsulated therebetween. A first sealing element is formed on the first side portion of the filter element and a second sealing element is formed on the second side portion of the filter element with a molten sealing element material in a second molding operation.

  • Patent number: 5766471
Abstract: It is a solenoid valve used in hydraulic control. Inside a body 4, a clip plate 11 is provided at the side of an inlet 5. The clip plate 11 is formed integral by a circular support portion 12 and three retaining pawls 13 extending toward its center. On the other hand, a filter 21 of synthetic resin is formed integral by an outer frame portion 22 encircling the inlet 5, an inner frame portion 23 bisecting it and filter portions stretched therebetween. Further, a retaining convex portion 25 projecting toward the inlet 5 is provided at an intermediate portion of the inner frame portion 23. The inner frame portion 23 is elastically deformed to move the retaining convex portion 25 toward the side of the inlet 5 so that it is retained by the three retaining pawls 13 of the clip plate 11. The shape can be achieved wherein the filter 21 does not project so much from the body so that the overall size of the solenoid valve can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5736045
Abstract: A filter element has a support member with a support tube which can abut a filter mat and which is provided with apertures for the passage of a filtered medium. The apertures are formed by the axial spaces between individual rings of the support member. The rings are supported by support walls dividing the interior of the support tube into individual chambers. Since the support member is rendered compression-stiff, it exclusively supports the filter mat when the medium flows through. The respective support wall is directly connected to the rings. Each ring with its closed annular shape surrounds the support walls on the exterior. The filtration capacity of filter elements can be improved and the weight and cost simultaneously reduced owing to the highly stable and compression-stiff support member.

  • Patent number: 5624560
Abstract: A filter is provided which combines a woven wire mesh over a supporting body. The supporting body is typically a metal perforated tube which provides fluid communication between the well bore and the production equipment string. The woven wire mesh acts as a filter to prevent the influx of sand particles, provides openings oriented at various angles relative to its surface, so that some area is available for fluid entry even when particulate matter is lodged on the surface above an opening, provides interior channels that allow fluid to travel from one location on the mesh surface to another location over an opening into the supporting body, and does not provide "straight-through" openings, thus forcing the fluid to make multiple turns to pass through the mesh, thereby dissipating the fluid's energy and increases the mesh's erosion resistance. When particulate matter accumulates on the mesh's surface, the resulting particle cake remains porous, heightening the filter's resistance to plugging.

  • Patent number: 5525222
Abstract: Disclosed herein are improvements to a water filtration system on a water intake line that prevent the infestation of Zebra Mussels in the water system. The water filtration system filters any water entering the water intake line through a filter having a largest pore size that is small enough to prevent the passage of an eggs or veliger of Zebra Mussels. To prevent accumulation of Zebra Mussels on the filters and the filtration unit, copper screens surround the filters and the water intake to the filtration system. The filters are also provided with threaded ends to facilitate easy and reliable removal and replacement of the filters when needed.

  • Patent number: 5520808
Abstract: A novel bearing-seal for the upper journal of a rotary self-cleaning strainer allows an existing strainer whose upper journal has become too loose to be reconstructed without the necessity of replacing the suction pipe, even though the suction pipe has been grooved by a set of circumferentially spaced wheels previously used for the upper journal. The bearing-seal can also be used in a new strainer instead of such a set of wheels. Where sealing is also required, the inventive bearing-seal has a sealing disc for replacing a previously used curved lip seal. The inventive upper bearing-seal significantly reduces rotational friction, enabling the strainer to be operated with significantly increased power efficiency, offering the potential for effective usage with lower pressure suction pumps.

  • Patent number: 5516424
Abstract: A fuel injection valve has a fuel filter developed as one piece with a holding collar. The holding collar extends radially beyond the fuel inlet connection and has a nose outside the fuel inlet connection. The circumferential nose of the holding collar together with the groove on the outer circumference of the fuel inlet connection forms a detent connection by which the fuel filter is fastened in pin-pointed position. Between the base body of the fuel filter and the inner wall of the fuel inlet connection there is merely a clearance fit, so that formation of chips is avoided within the fuel injection valve. The fuel injection valve is particularly suitable for use in fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing external-ignition internal combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 5505849
Abstract: Apparatus for filtering particulates from fuel being transferred through a nozzle into a fuel tank including an annular flange member and an elongated tubular mesh filter member having a proximal end of which is attached to the flange member, providing an opening through which a fuel nozzle may be inserted into the filter member, and a distal end which is closed so that particulates of predetermined size are prevented from flowing through the tubular filter member. The tubular filter member is provided, near the proximal end thereof, with a radially outwardly projecting protuberance, permitting insertion or removal of the apparatus into or from a tank only upon contraction of the tubular filter member.

  • Patent number: 5498334
Abstract: A filter for a synthetic resin melt has a housing formed from two blocks through which a melt channel for the passage of the plastics melt passes. A screen plate is rotatably mounted to intrude between the blocks and a plurality of recesses are distributed in a circular pattern around the periphery of the screen plate so that rotation can bring two of the recesses in to line with the channel. A plurality of filter elements are accommodated, one each in each recess, so that the plastic melt must pass through the filters in the recesses in line with the channel. To support the filter elements against melt pressure a stationary perforated plate is located in the channel immediately adjacent and downstream of the screen plate. By rotating the screen plate exhausted filter elements can be readily replaced. The filter elements are made of woven wire cloth and may be dished to prevent distortion of the mesh.

  • Patent number: 5480546
Abstract: A screen dram for the dewatering and/or washing of cellulose pulp, comprises a first cylinder (2) made from non-stainless material, which is rotatable about its axis (5); a cylindrical screen plate (6) arranged coaxially on the outside of the first cylinder, but at a distance from it, and between the screen plate and the first cylinder an annular chamber (7) which can receive liquid which has passed through the screen plate, which chamber contains passages (26) which extend in the axial direction towards one or both ends of the drum for the withdrawal of the screen liquid. The chamber (7) is lined with stainless steel (8) in the form of one or more cylindrical plate sections (8a, 8b . . . 8n). These, by virtue of shrink joints, can be joined to and bear in seal-tight arrangement against the cylindrical casing of the first cylinder. Preferably, the stainless steel contains at least 5% molybdenum.

  • Patent number: 5476588
Abstract: A multi-layer composite screen having filters of a plurality of layers superposed one upon another is provided. Each filter of the plurality of layers has wires of a substantially triangular or trapezoidal cross section arranged in parallel to one another with a continuous slit of a substantially V-shaped cross section being formed between respective adjacent wires, said slit widening increasingly inwardly from the surface of the screen. The wires of one filter of the respective adjacent filters cross the wires of the other filter and the respective adjacent filters are fixed to each other at crossing points of the wires of the respective filters. In one aspect of the invention, the wires are formed with linear projections extending in the longitudinal direction of the wires which facilitate electrical welding of the filters of the adjacent layers.
