With Means To Prevent Unintentional Rotation In Closure Releasing Direction Patents (Class 215/330)
  • Patent number: 8079483
Abstract: A closure having a stopping mechanism whereby a stop lug is positionable between a flexed and unflexed position relative to a spring gap. The stop lug may project from a skirt of the closure top wall. The spring gap is positioned adjacent the stop lug to provide an area for the stop lug to travel when outside forces are applied to the stop lug and subsequently return back to the unflexed position. The stop lug may have a substantially vertical support rib in combination with a plurality of annularly spaced ribs.

  • Patent number: 8051999
Abstract: A closure construction of the present invention includes a container with male threading on the neck thereof with a pair of locking notches. The cap includes a pair of split arcuate walls with partial threading thereon, which provides, in cooperation with each other, a threaded connection between the cap and the male threading disposed thereby releasably securing the cap to the container. A pair of protrusions are connected to and emanate inwardly from the inner surface of the outer wall. The pair of protrusions are releasably respectively seated in the pair of locking notches when the cap is threaded past a predetermined point onto the neck of the container. When the cap is squeezed in a direction generally perpendicular to a line running through the protrusions, the protrusions lift out of their respective locking notches to permit the cap to be unthreaded from the container.

  • Patent number: 8046974
Abstract: A closure system for a container reduces the needed torque for assembly by minimizing frictional resistance to rotation of the closure into its desired alignment with the container before the closure is driven home onto the container neck. The reduction in the torque resistance during the application of the closure allows the rotary filling machinery to work within its torque limits and minimizes damage to the parts during the filling and sealing operation in a bottle filling line.

Abstract: A container (10) has a lid (12) for rotation mounting thereon. A tamper evident mechanism is located for operation between the container and lid. The mechanism includes at least one projection (42) on the container and at least one corresponding flange (44) on the lid. • Patent number: 7017762
Abstract: A cap or closure for medication bottles, containers or vials has a base with a peripheral wall to define a recess. A cover is notably located in the recess below the rim of the peripheral wall. The cover has a marker that is selectively aligned with indica indicating dosage intervals. A one-way mechanism inhibits rotation of the cover relative to the base in one direction, providing the consumer with a simple mechanical device that acts as a reminder of when the next does in a course of medication is due or when the last dose was taken. The closure permits a single cap to serve the needs of different medication frequencies while being inexpensive enough to be included with each container provided by a pharmacy or manufacturer of non-prescription medications or homeopathic products.

  • Patent number: 7000789
Abstract: A reversible child-resistant closure system including a closure and container. The closure has a child resistant mode when applied to the container in a first child-resistant position and has a non-child resistant mode when applied to the container in a second non-child resistant position. The closure includes an outer cap and an inner cap. The inner cap is coaxially positioned and nested within the outer cap such that a plurality of angular abutment surfaces of the inner cap engage a series of angular abutments of the outer cap upon rotation of the outer cap to rotate the inner cap in a closing direction. However, upon rotation of the outer cap member in an opening direction in the absence of an axial force, the angular abutment surfaces of the inner cap cam over and past the series of angular abutments of the outer cap, preventing rotation of the inner cap.

  • Patent number: 6848590
Abstract: A child-resistant closure and container package includes a container having a finish with an external thread and pockets in the thread. A closure has a base wall, a peripheral skirt with an internal thread and lugs on the internal thread for receipt in the pockets, and a spring element on the base wall for engagement with the container finish to bias the closure away from the container finish and resiliently urge the lugs into the pockets. A liner is urged by the spring element into engagement with the container finish. The liner may include a base with metal and plastic layers for induction-welded sealing engagement with the finish such that, upon removal of the closure, the metal and plastic layers remain secured to the finish and the liner base is removed with the closure. The metal and plastic layers may be removed by a user for access to the contents of the container, and the liner base continues to serve as a package seal during use of the package.
