  • Patent number: 11060433
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to aid fixing of an elongate wire within an elongate, linear cell of a honeycomb ceramic substrate unit for a gaseous emissions treatment assembly. In one method, the wire is formed with a resiliently flexible element, and inserted into the cell, the insertion act causing the resiliently flexible element to flex and to cause a part of the element to bear against a wall of the cell and so provide frictional retention of the wire in the cell. In another, method, an adhesive is used either on the outside of the wire or the inside of the cell. In another method, the wire is scored at spaced intervals along its length to provide relief spaces for linear expansion of the wire to reduce stress at its interface with cell walls.

  • Patent number: 10995452
Abstract: Unique, inexpensive, and strong biocomposites are obtained from blending cellulose matrix materials with lignocellulosic reinforcement materials with the aid of alkaline aqueous solvent and cold temperatures. These lignocellulosic composites (LCs) are produced without use of any thermoplastic resins, adhesives, catalysts, plasticizers or complicated chemical or physical procedures. The LCs include a matrix and a reinforcement material. The matrix is a cellulose material (e.g., cotton, hemp, flax, or wood) that is liquefied using an aqueous alkaline solvent solution under cold temperatures to more readily adhere and/or incorporate/encapsulate the lignocellulosic reinforcements (wood chips, fibers, and other lignocellulosic sources).

  • Patent number: 10364720
Abstract: A method is disclosed for loading elongate wire lengths into elongate cells of a honeycomb ceramic substrate unit for a gaseous emissions treatment assembly, the cells each having a small cross-sectional area, the area shape matching the cross-sectional shape of the loaded wire lengths and marginally greater in area size than the wire lengths. A wire length is formed with a generally pointed end tip by pulling adjacent parts of a wire along the wire axis respectively in opposite directions from a desired wire breakage site. The tension and timing of the pulling operation are selected so that a desired tip profile is achieved. Initial alignment is done using machine vision. Subsequent adjustment is effected in dependence on feedback from sensors mounted close to the end of a wire insertion arm. Breakage and push insertion of wires is done using alternating gripping and moving of chucks or collets which have aperture shapes close in profile to the outer profile of the wire lengths.

Abstract: A portable cooking system has a heating chamber supported by retractable legs that rest on a lid. A fire pan also resting on the lid and partially within the heating chamber is adaptable to burn charcoal, wood, or compressed gas. The lid supports and isolates the fire pan from the ground. The fire pan may be adapted for grilling. An alternate lid may contain an electric heating element. Thermometers and a vent on the heating chamber allow regulation on temperature within the heating chamber. The system may be adapted to provide uniform, controlled heat for Dutch ovens contained within. The system may also function as a smoker.

Abstract: A method for forming a semiconductor structure is disclosed. The method includes forming a high-k dielectric layer over a semiconductor substrate and forming a gate layer over the high-k dielectric layer. The method also includes heating the gate layer to 350° C., wherein, if the gate layer includes non-conductive material, the non-conductive material becomes conductive. The method further includes annealing the substrate, the high-k dielectric layer, and the gate layer in excess of 350° C. and, during the annealing, applying a negative electrical bias to the gate layer relative to the semiconductor substrate. A semiconductor structure is also disclosed. The semiconductor structure includes a high-k dielectric layer over a semiconductor substrate, and a gate layer over the high-k dielectric layer. The gate layer has a negative electrical bias during anneal. A p-channel FET including this semiconductor structure is also disclosed.

Abstract: A vacuum oven or vacuum furnace is disclosed having a heat distribution sleeve that conforms to the shape of an interior heating chamber. The heat distribution sleeve may be of generally annular shape, like a ring, and located in a substantially regularly spaced and offset relationship from a heating element located within walls adjacent the interior heating chamber. The heat distribution sleeve includes a thermal conductive material which absorbs and re-radiates heat emitted from the heating element, thereby providing more consistent and regular radiation fields for heating treating a work piece that is loaded on a work holding tray and, upon the vacuum oven being in an operational position, the work piece is located within the furnace chamber.

  • Patent number: 7655884
Abstract: An oven has a housing, a heat source, and an aperture defined in the housing. A substantially horizontal deck rotates within the housing, and a number of substantially horizontal pallets are mounted on the deck to rotate relative to the deck. Each pallet has a lip. A source of motive power and a transmission system drive the main deck to revolve within the housing, and also drive the pallets to rotate relative to the main deck. The transmission system constrains rotational movement of the pallets relative to the main deck and causes each pallet to be oriented with its stopping member positioned opposite the aperture whenever that pallet is aligned with the aperture. The oven has a control system that monitors the length of time that an item remains in the oven, permitting items having different cooking times to be cooked simultaneously, even when introduced in a random order.
