Radio frequency waves of a resonant frequency travel in a hollow channel of a waveguide that contains an object, such as a blackbody core. The core is structurally secured within the waveguide by a spring system that supports the base of the core, yet the core does not touch the waveguide and does not conduct heat to the waveguide. The core absorbs the RF energy and generates heat by molecular friction within the material of the core moving in a resonating pendulumatic fashion. The core converts the RF energy to infrared (IR) energy and emits IR waves through an exit aperture disposed within a hood coupled to the waveguide. Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for performing laser annealing in a manner that reduces or minimizes wafer surface temperature variations during the laser annealing process. The systems and methods include annealing the wafer surface with first and second laser beams that represent preheat and anneal laser beams having respective first and second intensities. The preheat laser beam brings the wafer surface temperate close to the annealing temperature and the anneal laser beam brings the wafer surface temperature up to the annealing temperature. The anneal laser beam can have a different wavelength, or the same wavelength but different orientation relative to the wafer surface. Reflectivity maps of the wafer surface at the preheat and anneal wavelengths are measured and used to select first and second intensities that ensure good anneal temperature uniformity as a function of wafer position.

Abstract: A heater liner assembly suitable for covering the interior of a plasma processing chamber is provided. In some embodiments, a liner assembly for a processing chamber can include a heating element embedded in a body. A flange extending outward from an outer diameter of the body includes an upper surface having a sealing surface and at least one pad that extends from the upper surface of the flange to an elevation beyond the sealing surface. The pad contributes to control of the temperature of the liner assembly by maintaining the liner assembly spaced apart from the processing chamber.

Abstract: Provided are a method of heating a composition which is applicable to a substrate provided with a material having low heat resistance and a method of forming a glass pattern which leads to reduction of cracks. A composition formed over a substrate is irradiated with a laser beam to bake the paste through local heating. Scan with the laser beam is, performed so that there can be no difference in the laser beam irradiation period between the middle portion and the perimeter portion of the composition. Specifically, irradiation with the laser beam is performed so that the width of the beam spot overlapping with the composition in the scanning direction is substantially uniform.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for heat-treating a wafer, the method by which heat treatment at a predetermined temperature with rapid rise and fall of temperature is performed by performing heating by a heating source in a state in which a principal surface (a first principal surface) of a wafer is supported by a supporting member, the method in which heat treatment is performed with control of the heating source being performed in such a way that the temperature of the first principal surface supported by the supporting member becomes 1 to 25° C. higher than the temperature of a principal surface (a second principal surface) opposite to the first principal surface of the wafer. As a result, a method for heat-treating a wafer, the method that can reliably suppress a slip dislocation generated from a wafer supporting position when heat treatment is performed on a silicon wafer, is provided.

Abstract: A device for removing condensate from a surface of a transparent material is disclosed. The device uses a power supply to conduct an electrical current through and thereby heat a transparent thermo-resistive element embedded within the transparent material. As the transparent thermo-resistive element is heated, heat transfers to a surface of the transparent material, thereby heating such surface to a temperature above the dew point of the condensing liquid which in turn prevents fogging on the surface of the transparent material. Embodiments of the present invention have utility in performance eyewear where fogging has the potential to reduce visibility.

Abstract: In light-irradiation heating with a total irradiation time of one second or less, two-stage irradiation is performed, including a first stage of light irradiation of a semiconductor wafer, which irradiation produces an output waveform that reaches a peak at a given emission output; and a second stage of supplemental light irradiation of the semiconductor wafer, which irradiation is started after the peak, producing an emission output smaller than the above given emission output. The emission output in the second stage is two thirds or less than the above given emission output at the peak. The first-stage light-irradiation time is between 0.1 and 10 milliseconds, and the second-stage light-irradiation time is 5 milliseconds or more. This allows the temperature of the semiconductor wafer even at a somewhat greater depth below the surface to be raised to some extent while allowing the surface temperature to be maintained at a generally constant processing temperature.
