  • Publication number: 20040200822
Abstract: A cooking appliance employing rapid cook technology includes a controller which automatically converts conventional cooking temperatures input by a user to rapid cooking temperatures. In accordance with the most preferred form of the invention, after a user enters a standard radiant cooking temperature into a control panel, an electronic controller subtracts a certain amount, preferably 25° F. (approximately 14° C.), off of the standard temperature. This reduced temperature is then shown in a display provided in the control panel. The controller will use this temperature as the actual cook temperature for the cycle. However, in order to assure food quality, this method is only employed in relatively short convection cooking cycles, such as a convection bake mode.

Abstract: An illuminating apparatus for an induction coil of an induction cooking field is in the form of a ⅓ circular ring segment and carries conducting tracks, which form turns of a coil, which is connected to several LEDs. During induction coil operation an alternating voltage is induced in the coil and consequently the LEDs are supplied. With such an illuminating apparatus it is possible without additional wiring expenditure to illuminate an induction coil under a glass ceramic cooking field.

  • Patent number: 6570139
Abstract: An electronic control circuit for use with a heater, a fan, a humidifier or any device utilizing a power mode switch and a condition sensor, the electronic control circuit including a single control switch for controlling both power output and responding to a sensed condition. The electronic circuit includes a microprocessor, preferably in the form of an application-specific integrated circuit to provide the circuit logic. The single control switch is preferably a push-button switch which places the unit in the selected mode of operation. The electronic control circuit also includes a thermistor or humidity sensor to sense conditions and, depending upon the set temperature/humidity by the control switch and the sensed condition the unit will operate accordingly. The unit can also operate in a manual mode, thereby bypassing the sensor operation.

Abstract: A power control system for an electric cooktop. The power level is set by a knob connected to a potentiometer. Potentiometer information is digitally communicated by a controller over a serial communication bus to a power unit. The power unit communicates power level display information back to the controller over the same serial communication bus. The display information is displayed as numbers on a digital display by the controller. The power unit controls a heating element of the cooktop according to the potentiometer information. A second potentiometer can be added to control a second heating element by operating as a slave to the first controller. Further, multiple heating elements can be controlled by a single potentiometer by dividing the angular rotation into multiple segments or ranges.

  • Patent number: 6559882
Abstract: A domestic cooking or defrosting appliance including a heating region and a camera for obtaining images of food cooking or defrosting within the heating region, wherein the camera outputs video signals to a processor that drives a display means associated with the appliance and/or controls the cooking or defrosting operation of the appliance. The display means is conveniently situated on the appliance to show an easily-viewable image of the food obtained by the camera. The camera is sensitive to infra-red radiation and outputs video signals representative of the heat of the food. The processor can therefore convert infra-red information received from the camera into visible information to create a display on the display means representative of the infra-red information. Such a display is preferably color-coded in accordance with the local temperature of the food.
