Abstract: A container has a base with a bottom wall rib structure which deforms downwardly when an unresisted load is applied. The rib structure stiffens the base, and also can elevate the food product from liquid within the container. The bottom wall has a central platform which extends upwardly from a lower encircling segment. The lower encircling segment marks the lowermost portion of the base as molded, and extends inwardly from the lower margin of the sidewall. Two generally parallel longitudinal ribs extend across the platform and project upwardly from the platform. The longitudinal ribs extend from the lower encircling segment at the front of the base to the rear of the base. Short bridging ribs are evenly spaced parallel to one another and extend laterally between and connect the two longitudinal ribs. A plurality of cross ribs extend outwardly from each longitudinal rib to the encircling segment.

Abstract: A container exhibiting superior resistance to unwanted or uncontrolled sidewall deformation has plurality of vacuum responsive panels, generally uniformly spaced around the sidewall periphery, including a panel surface portion radially inset from the sidewall. A post or land is provided between each nearest neighbor pair of vacuum panels, the posts having upper and lower ends joined together upper and lower sidewall edge portions. A margin is located at least at the upper and lower edges of each vacuum panel and extending between the panel surface and the sidewall. At least one of the upper and lower margins of each vacuum responsive panel includes an axially offset portion, which in response to decreasing pressure focuses any initial deflection of the panel surface to that portion of the panel contiguous to the axial offset portion.

Abstract: An optimized tray for case-ready meat products is disclosed. The tray comprises a base, a plurality of sidewalls connected at a plurality of corners, a flange extending from an upper edge of each sidewall, and a plurality of substantially vertical ribs extending from said sidewalls and spaced apart therealong. At least one of the sidewalls is bowed inwardly, and the flange along at least a partial length of the at least one bowed sidewall is varied in width. The ribs can also vary in thickness along at least a partial length of at least one of the sidewalls. The interaction of the at least one bowed sidewall, the varying flange width, and the varying rib thickness allows for optimization of tray resistance to vertical and horizontal stress without increasing the overall outer dimensions of the tray and without substantially decreasing the internal volume of the tray.

Abstract: Provided is a vitreous silica crucible which can restrain inward collapse deformation at high temperature during pulling even when the crucible has a large opening diameter. The vitreous silica crucible has an outer layer made of natural fused silica and an inner layer made of synthetic fused silica. The straight body section is outwardly-widened upwardly. Preferably, the difference in inner diameter of the lower and upper ends of the outwardly-widened section is 0.1% or more. The inner layer made of synthetic fused silica on the corner section has a layer thickness which is 20% to 80% of the wall thickness of the central portion of the corner section. Preferably, the inner layer made of synthetic fused silica on the straight body section and the bottom section is thinner than that on the corner section.

Abstract: The invention relates to bodies that have a structuring with connecting elements formed around the entire girth of the body. Furthermore, the invention relates to packages including an arrangement of at least two bodies according to the invention, with the connecting elements of a first body cooperating with the corresponding connecting elements of a second body in a form-locking manner. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device for producing packages from bodies. The device has an alignment unit and at least one sliding device for form-lockingly connecting the aligned bodies, with at least two bodies at a time being rotated about their longitudinal axes in order to align corresponding connecting elements of the two bodies so that they can cooperate. The invention moreover relates to a method for producing packages from bodies, whereby at least two bodies are aligned first and subsequently assembled to form a first package, with the oppositely arranged connecting elements form-lockingly interlocking.

Abstract: The present embodiments provide improved liquid containers having enhanced structural integrity. In one embodiment, the liquid container comprises a cap region, an upper panel region disposed beneath the cap region, a non-paneled circular region disposed beneath the upper panel region, and a lower panel region disposed beneath the non-paneled circular region. The upper and lower panel regions each may comprise a plurality of discrete generally flat sides disposed about a circumference of the liquid container. Advantageously, the plurality of discrete generally flat sides about the circumference of the container may provide horizontal and vertical strength by reducing the amount of contiguous flat surface area. Further, various ribbed regions may provide additional structural stability about the circumference of the container.
