The false bottom is operationally engaged to an actuator, which is engaged to the tubular housing. A controller is engaged to the tubular housing so that the controller is accessible to a user. The controller is operationally engaged to the actuator and can be selectively manipulated by the user to activate the actuator to motivate the false bottom, the trash can liner, and contents of the trash can liner from proximate to the true bottom toward the top, facilitating removal of the trash can liner and its contents from the tubular housing.

The storing chamber includes a distribution aperture configured to allow passage of one of said medical containers outside the housing so as to allow a user to pick up this medical container. The packaging device also includes a sharps container positioned inside the storing chamber of the housing in a pre-use position, the sharps container being removable from the storing chamber so as to be put outside the housing in a collecting position wherein the sharps container allows collection of the used medical containers. The sharps container is configured to contain the plurality of medical containers in the pre-use position and comprises a spill-out window configured to allow the medical containers to fall down into the storing chamber when the sharps container is moved from the pre-use position to the collecting position.

The ultrasonic deodorizing device includes a deodorizing carrier supported above the top opening of the container body for containing deodorant in liquid form, an ultrasonic nozzle operatively coupled at the deodorizing carrier for downwardly injecting the deodorant in an atomization manner below the top opening of the container body, and a nozzle controller configured to control and activate the ultrasonic nozzle.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are provided to detect when items are removed from a multiple cavity carrier (MCC) that stores items (e.g., pen needle assemblies) in respective cavities. A separate, reusable data collection unit (DCU) can be mounted to the MCC and has sensors for detecting cavity status (e.g., empty or filled with an item). The DCU stores data related to time stamps, optional dates, and cavity locations of item removal from and optional used item return to respective ones of the MCC cavities to help users track item usage (e.g., pen needle assemblies) to improve medication delivery management such as insulin injections with an injection pen and pen needle assemblies. Indicators can be generated to indicate from which cavity the next item should be extracted to encourage injection site rotation.

Abstract: A gravity-actuated latch mechanism is provided. The gravity-actuated latch mechanism may include a strike attached to a lid of a container and a latch body attached to an inside wall of the container. The latch body includes a housing and a catch accessible from outside of the housing, wherein the catch engages and disengages with the strike. The latch body includes a lever having a lever arm moveable between an engaged and disengaged position. The engaged position is engaged with the catch and the disengaged position is disengaged with the catch. The latch body also includes a latch actuation ball housed in an elongated passage within the housing. The lever arm of the lever extends into the elongate passage, allowing the latch actuation ball to apply force to the lever arm to move the lever from the engaged to the disengaged position in response to tipping the container for dumping.

Abstract: A collection bin locking assembly with a gravity-actuated release mechanism is disclosed herein. The locking assembly includes a housing attached to the body of the bin and a separate cord support structure attached to the lid. When locked, a cord spans between a first cord support structure on the housing and the separate or second cord support structure on the lid. A pendulum is disposed within the housing which, due to gravity, automatically swings between a first, resting position and a second, unlocked positioned when the collection bin is moved from an upright position to an at least partially upended position. Furthermore, the first cord support structure includes a groove and, adjacent to the groove, a smooth, outwardly curved surface. When the pendulum swings, the cord is forced out of the groove and onto the adjacent smooth, outwardly curved surface where the cord will slip off, thereby unlocking the lid.

Abstract: A cargo unit for storage in a cargo hold of an aircraft including a housing and a storage rack arrangement, the housing enclosing the storage rack arrangement and including a transport opening. The cargo unit is connectable to a transport arrangement operable for removing objects from the storage rack arrangement and placing objects in the storage rack arrangement through the transport opening when the cargo unit is arranged in an operating position. The cargo unit includes a transport cover movable between a closed position where the transport cover closes the transport opening and an opened position where the transport opening is not covered by the transport cover. The transport cover is adapted to be only movable from its closed position to its opened position after engagement with a transport arrangement. A lower deck catering system including a cargo unit and a transport arrangement is described.

Abstract: An advertising medium includes a frame enclosing a traffic signal control cabinet. The frame includes opposing rails for each side of the cabinet with opposing inside surfaces of the rails including grooves extending longitudinally along the rail and spaced from each other. A light panel is carried within one groove near, yet spaced from, surfaces of cabinet walls. An advertising panel is carried within a second groove. The advertising panel is spaced from the light panel and on an opposite side from the cabinet wall. A clear protective panel is carried within a third groove and opposite an outer surface of the advertising panel. Tie rods extend between lock devices which are secured to the rails such that removing the frame from its position around the cabinet is prevented. As a result, advertising material may be secured to a traffic signal control cabinet without intruding upon or modifying the cabinet.

Abstract: A planter in the form of a tower planter having an internal vertical composting capability is provided. The planter has a hollow, vertical, outer cylindrical barrel with a plurality of openings formed about its cylindrical side. A hollow inner cylindrical composting tube having a plurality of perforations formed in its cylindrical wall is provided. The space formed between the inner tube and barrel wall is filled with growing medium such as potting soil. The inner tube is filled with compost material. A plurality of worms is added to the inner tube compost material. Water is added to the inner tube and barrel on a daily basis. Plants are inserted into the outer barrel side openings. A removable container is placed at the bottom of the tube and barrel, said container adapted to capture water draining out from the tube and barrel, as well as periodically receiving compost from the compost tube.

Abstract: A garbage reminder system for reminding a user to place a garbage can for pickup includes a garbage can that has an outer wall. An alarm unit is provided and the alarm unit is coupled to the garbage can. The alarm unit is programmable to emit an audible alarm at a selected time and date. In this way the alarm unit issues a reminder to set the garbage can at a curb for pickup.

Abstract: A space-saving in-flight trash compactor, comprising a trash chute, a compactor mechanism disposed above a level of the trash chute, and a storage chamber removably positioned below the compactor mechanism and below a level of the trash chute. The storage chamber is vertically aligned with the compactor mechanism. The trash chute is configured to channel trash disposed through an opening of the trash chute at a level of a counter top and above a level of a top of the storage chamber into an opening of the storage chamber at the top of the storage chamber. The opening of the trash chute may be horizontally offset from the vertical alignment of the storage chamber and compactor mechanism.

Abstract: A system for alerting a user when the contents of a refuse container have reached or exceeded a specific weight level. The system measures the weight of the contents and will have the potential to send an alert in a plurality of ways selected by the user or selected by someone associated with the user.

Abstract: A latch is usable to latch and automatically unlatch a lid of a waste container. The latch includes a release weight that moves responsive to gravity in a housing from a first position to a second position to cause the latch to disengage from a release receptacle when the latch and the waste container are oriented in a dump angle orientation. The latch includes a rotary damper in the housing that controls movement of the release weight in the housing such that an amount of time for the release weight to move responsive to gravity from the first position to the second position is slower than the amount of time the release weight would move responsive to gravity from the first position to the second position in the housing absent the effect of the rotary damper on the release weight.

Abstract: A storage container in which a lid of the storage container has a set of lid wheels is disclosed. When the lid of the storage container is placed on the base of the storage container such that the lid and the set of lid wheels are below the base, the storage container can be moved by the set of lid wheels. The storage container can be moved manually or through the use of a motor such as a windup or electric motor. Furthermore, the storage container can have an appearance of a vehicle. Furthermore, the storage container can include a mechanism to attach the storage container to a second storage container. For example, attaching the first storage container's back to the front of the second storage container, can allow a train of storage containers to move together.

Abstract: According to at least one embodiment, a computer-implemented method to communicate refuse reminders to a user of an automation system is disclosed. A proximity of at least one refuse bin to a base station may be detected at a predetermined time period prior to the refuse removal day using one or more sensors. The user may be alerted to move the at least one refuse bin to a removal location based at least in part on the detecting. In some embodiments, the refuse removal scheduled may be linked with the automation system, wherein the refuse removal schedule may comprise a schedule of refuse pick-up days for a first category of refuse.

Abstract: A vented trash container with a manifold of air channels which is capable of distributing air throughout the entire container. The vented trash container is capable of eliminating vacuum between walls of the container and a liner. The manifold in the container comprises a plurality of air channels and an air distributing means. The manifold forms a network of the air channels so as to provide air distribution throughout the entire container and enhance reliability of the air distribution. The vented trash container with the manifold can be cast form a single piece of a material to form an integrated seamless unit and easily manufactured by a single injection molding process.

Abstract: A trash can for hanging and retaining standard kitchen trash bags in a sanitary and energy efficient manner. Novel trash bag support brackets are suspended spatially within the trash can to allow a user to stretch the mouth of a trash bag thereabout without touching any other surface. The trash bag opens from the front, allowing a user to hang the trash bag without bending or stooping. Foot pedals control three different lid positions. A combination false bottom/catch pan tilts backwards to collect and contain any solid or liquid waste. An integral pedal-to-lid linkage shield affixed to the back of the false floor doubles as a handle to lift the false bottom/catch pan out from the trash can for cleaning.

Right angled brackets configured to support the mixer bucket are disposed on the inner surface. A hemispherical opening configured to receive a user's foot to stabilize the device.

Abstract: Waste container including a base defining a waste-receiving compartment, a lid movably attached to the base and movable between a first position covering a waste insertion opening and a second position in which it does not obstruct the waste insertion opening and a support portion including an aperture through which a bag is placed into the compartment. An obstruction mechanism includes an actuator and an obstruction member having at least one part that selectively engages with the bag at a location below the support portion. The actuator is manually and/or automatically rotatable to cause rotation of the obstruction member between a first position in which the obstruction member is in a first plane not obstructing insertion of waste into the bag and a second position in which the obstruction member is in a second plane obstructing insertion of waste into the bag.

Abstract: A film-supporting device is used with a waste-disposal unit. The device comprises an annular body. The annular body has an annular wall. The inward radial surface of the wall defines a central opening of the body. The outline of the central opening in a transverse plane of the device has variable diametrical dimensions with a first diameter of greater dimension than the second diameter. The outline has two of the first diameter of generally equal dimension and two of the second diameter of generally equal dimension. The device has tubular film about an outward radial surface of the annular body. A free annular end is dispensed outwardly from the annular wall. The free annular end is closed to form a bag. The opening of the bag is accessible through the central opening and is of optimized shape via the central opening for the disposal of waste. A method for disposing of waste on a scooping tool is also provided.

Abstract: A vacuum-operated trash receptacle which is characterized by a container fitted with an air blower, vacuum pump or the like, either on the perforated lid, bottom or on the side thereof and having a like-shaped, removable, typically slotted liner inserted therein. In a preferred embodiment, the outer wall or walls and/or bottom of the liner are spaced from the corresponding inside wall or walls and bottom panel of the container, respectively, to define a separate or connected annulus between the bottom and wall or walls of the container and liner. The container is further provided with a top flange which receives a corresponding liner flange on the liner to seal the separate or connected bottom and wall annulus and facilitate development of a vacuum in the bottom annulus and wall annulus or both and in the liner by operation of the air blower.

Abstract: A refuse container provides an indication of the weight of the refuse stored therein to a refuse collector to indicate whether the weight is safe to handle or requires extra caution. The refuse container includes a body into which one or more springs is places. A platform is placed on the one or more springs. A weight indicator is attached to the platform. The weight indicator has marking to distinguish a plurality of weight indicator regions. A window allows the weight indicator to be seen. As the platform moves up and down in response to the weight of the refuse thereon, certain of the weight indicator regions of the weight indicator will be viewable in the window to thereby indicate how safe the refuse in the refuse container is to handle or whether additional refuse can be added to the refuse container.

Abstract: A dumpster having a moveable false floor which moves from a bottom of the dumpster toward a top opening when the dumpster is tilted to a substantially inverted orientation during collection of trash. The moveable false floor has freedom to move a predetermined length toward the top opening, where upon reaching the predetermined length a restraining device abruptly stops the floor causing the dumpster to shake dislodging adhered trash. Upon being returned to an upright orientation the moveable false floor moves back to the bottom.

Abstract: A sharps container includes a sub-lid that normally defines an opening into the container that is too small for a hand. Upon closure of the sub-lid, the opening is enlarged so that larger objects can be placed in the container while the closure of the sub-lid continues to prevent a hand from reaching into the container interior. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: A front load refuse container made according to this invention has its four walls integrally formed out of a single piece of sheet metal. To form the walls, the single sheet is welded along a single vertical seam to form a circular-shaped ring. The circular-shaped ring is subjected to a swaging process that produces a rectangular-shaped ring with rounded corners.

Abstract: A unitary plastic container, which is optionally used for waste collection comprises a base, a front wall, a back wall and two opposing side walls, each wall extending upwardly from the base to define an open container top and an interior container volume. Each side wall has an outwardly extending sidewall portion which is outwardly offset relative to the rest of the container side wall. In each outwardly extending sidewall portion, an elongated cutout, indentation or channel is present. The elongated channel has a forward opening, a rearward opening and an elongated side opening extending from the forward opening to the rearward opening. The elongated channel lies within the interior container volume and divides the outwardly extending sidewall portion into two areas: an upper outwardly extending sidewall portion and a lower outwardly extending portion. The outwardly open elongate channel may be fitted with a reinforcing sleeve.

Abstract: A waste container for disposing sanitary waste, such as soiled diapers, comprises a canister having a storage space, an opening at an upper end and a bottom at a lower end. A retainer frame is pivotally attached to the canister and has an aperture for inserting a trash bag through the aperture and folding an upper edge of the trash bag over the retainer frame. A retainer is pivotally attached to the canister and has a rim that inserts into the aperture of the retainer frame to retain the trash bag. A lid having a hole which aligns with the aperture of the retainer frame is pivotally attached to the canister for allowing the lid to pivot between a closed position covering the opening and an open position. A sliding door is coupled to the lid and is slidable between a closed position and an open position.

Abstract: A kit for a planter is disclosed that has a polygon shape and has a selected number of sides and a same selected number of corners. The kit includes a selected number of bottom corner brackets, a selected number of corner beads, a selected number of top corner brackets, a selected number of top frame corner brackets, and a selected number of pairs of spacer runners that each correspond to the selected number of corners. The kit also includes a planter tub sized to fit within a planter body. The brackets and spacer runners are configured to be connected together to form a skeleton to which boards can be attached to form the planter body.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a foot operated latch and linkage means permitting hands-free access to a waste or recycling container. The latch includes a kick plate which is interlocked with a foot pedal whereby displacement of the kick plate permits release of the foot pedal to move from a latched position to an unlatched position, which pedal movement engages a linkage which opens a user access door in the container.

Abstract: The present invention is a talking trash receptacle that includes a lid that is removably placed on the receptacle, a plurality of speakers that are disposed on the lid that emit an audio message alerting one or more users that the receptacle is full, a beam sensor that runs across the receptacle and senses when trash and debris contained and piled-up in the receptacle intersect the beam sensor and a trash bag that is disposed within the receptacle that contains the trash and debris that are contained and piled-up within the receptacle. The receptacle also includes a trash can that contains the trash bag and the trash and debris, a speaker board that serves as a base of the speakers that are disposed on the speaker board and a plurality of sensor holding arms that secures the beam sensor in place that runs across the top portion of the receptacle.

Abstract: A hinge on a cover for a container, has a pivot axis and includes at least one first member fixed against rotation and at least one second member rotatable about the axis, which first and second members are arranged coaxially along the axis. A third member is arranged coaxial with the first and second members. A damper element is provided between the first and the third members in order to dampen the relative rate of rotation between the members. A first spring is arranged between the second and the third tubular members, which first spring is connected to the respective second and third members so that relative rotation between the tubular members is permitted in a first direction, when the cover is pivoted towards a first position, and prevented in a second direction, when the cover is pivoted towards a second position. A container provided with such a hinge is described.

Abstract: Several embodiments of plastic dumpsters with improved strength and durability are disclosed. In one embodiment, gussets connect pockets to bevel walls, connecting the side walls to front and rear walls of the dumpster. The bevel walls are stronger than the side walls of the dumpster. Other embodiments disclose gussets integral with front and rear walls of the dumpster for improved strength. Other embodiments disclose removable, separately formed sleeves that are secured to the sides of the dumpster to form pockets for receiving the forks of a truck.

Abstract: Herein described is a bin for collecting solid waste, in particular urban waste, provided with a device for weighing the products deposited by a single user, of the type made up of two containers, the outer covering one and the inner one for collecting waste. Such bin includes a rigid frame arranged in the gap between the two containers. Such frame rests on four stanchions on the bottom of the more outer container, where the wheels are applied, whereas on the upper edge some load cells are arranged, which support the most inner container so as to be able to detect the weight of the waste deposited in the bin by the user.

Abstract: A refuse carrying device with a variety of handling features includes a container, an attachable secondary handle, an attachable wheel assembly, and a shoulder resting recess. The durable container has an open top adapted for receiving refuse. Opposing sides of a top edge of the container include a pair of handles. The selectably attachable secondary side handle and the selectably attachable wheel assembly are positioned along an outer lower perimeter edge of the container. The shoulder recess is an indentation along the lower perimeter edge opposite the secondary handle and includes an attachable padded cushion to line the recess. A user places the shoulder rest in contact with the shoulder and grips the secondary handle to carry the container upon the shoulder region.
