Abstract: A wastebasket designed to work in combination with a trash bag insert, the wastebasket having one or more openings or slots on one or more of its sidewalls, the openings extending from the upper rim of the wastebasket to a point near the bottom of the wastebasket, so as to allow for an inward and outward motion of the sidewall sections so as to allow overstuffing of the trash bag while allowing the overstuffed bag to readily be removed from the wastebasket and/or the insertion of a trash bag whose opening circumference is smaller than the upper rim circumference of the wastebasket, whereby the trash bag is secured to the rim of the wastebasket.

Abstract: A liner sealing garbage container for sealing garbage in a container liner prior to removing the garbage from the container includes a housing having a bottom and a perimeter wall extending upwardly from the bottom. The perimeter wall has an upper edge forming a top opening in the housing. A shelf is coupled to the perimeter wall and extends inwardly from the perimeter wall. The shelf has a central aperture. An annular liner cartridge is positioned on the shelf and a liner extends from the liner cartridge through the central aperture of the shelf. A sealing assembly having opposed sealing members is positioned in the housing. The liner extends between the sealing members and the sealing members are movable to compress and seal the liner between the sealing members.

Abstract: Waste container including a base defining a waste-receiving compartment, a lid movably attached to the base and movable between a first position covering a waste insertion opening and a second position in which it does not obstruct the waste insertion opening and a support portion including an aperture through which a bag is placed into the compartment. An obstruction mechanism includes an actuator and an obstruction member having at least one part that selectively engages with the bag at a location below the support portion. The actuator is manually and/or automatically rotatable to cause rotation of the obstruction member between a first position in which the obstruction member is in a first plane not obstructing insertion of waste into the bag and a second position in which the obstruction member is in a second plane obstructing insertion of waste into the bag.

Abstract: A film-supporting device is used with a waste-disposal unit. The device comprises an annular body. The annular body has an annular wall. The inward radial surface of the wall defines a central opening of the body. The outline of the central opening in a transverse plane of the device has variable diametrical dimensions with a first diameter of greater dimension than the second diameter. The outline has two of the first diameter of generally equal dimension and two of the second diameter of generally equal dimension. The device has tubular film about an outward radial surface of the annular body. A free annular end is dispensed outwardly from the annular wall. The free annular end is closed to form a bag. The opening of the bag is accessible through the central opening and is of optimized shape via the central opening for the disposal of waste. A method for disposing of waste on a scooping tool is also provided.

Abstract: A garbage can liner system for use in a single compartment of a refuse container where the container volume is divided into subsections by placing and attaching a refuse receptacle divider system across the top of the container and by securing two garbage bags inside the container by attaching the bags to the divider system and to opposing ends of the container as is normally done. The divider system is adjustable so as to accommodate various sized containers so a single divider system can be used serially in several different garbage cans.

Abstract: A wastebasket for facilitating reuse of plastic shopping bags includes a first, open topped receptacle; a second receptacle, sized and shaped to receive therein the first receptacle; and a lid. The first, open topped receptacle may be formed unitary with the second receptacle or the first, open topped receptacle may be removable from the second receptacle. The first, open topped receptacle and the second receptacle are cooperatively adapted to form a bag storage compartment generally within the second receptacle and about the outside, upper portions of the first receptacle. The lid is cooperatively adapted with the first, open topped receptacle and the second receptacle to form an aesthetically pleasing closure for the bag storage compartment while simultaneously providing an also aesthetically pleasing opening to the interior space of the first, open topped receptacle.

Abstract: A waste container for disposing sanitary waste, such as soiled diapers, comprises a canister having a storage space, an opening at an upper end and a bottom at a lower end. A retainer frame is pivotally attached to the canister and has an aperture for inserting a trash bag through the aperture and folding an upper edge of the trash bag over the retainer frame. A retainer is pivotally attached to the canister and has a rim that inserts into the aperture of the retainer frame to retain the trash bag. A lid having a hole which aligns with the aperture of the retainer frame is pivotally attached to the canister for allowing the lid to pivot between a closed position covering the opening and an open position. A sliding door is coupled to the lid and is slidable between a closed position and an open position.

When the lid is closed, the rotatable member will twist the intermediate portion of the bag, sealing odors in the lower portion of the bag. A parent or caregiver will push the waste package through the resistance of the twisted intermediate portion into the lower portion of the bag, and close the lid to re-seal the twisted portion.

Abstract: A method for collecting organic waste in a collection bag, the method including a) disposing the collection bag within a volume of a collection device, the collection device having a side wall enclosing the volume and defining a top opening and bottom opening wherein a plurality of vertically extending air channels are formed between the collection bag and the side wall responsive to a structure extending into the volume from the side wall interacting with the collection bag; b) supporting a bottom of the collection bag on a bottom joined to the side wall with the bottom including one or more bottom orifices communicated to the vertically extending air channels; and c) retaining an opening of the collection bag in an open configuration at the top opening with one or more top orifices formed around the opening and communicated to the vertically extending air channels.

Abstract: A trash can system and component elements are described. Folded or interfolded trash bags are provided in a container beneath a flexible insert. The flexible insert provides separation between a trash bag in an operative position within the trash can, and provides support to the container against the pulling operation performed by a user to pull a full trash bag out of the container and dispense a new, refill trash bag from the container. According to another exemplary embodiment, folded or interfolded trash bags are provided in a tray which slidably connect to a lid associated with a box disposed in the trash can.

Abstract: A receptacle includes a body configured to receive a liner and a cinch disposed on the body. The cinch includes a projection disposed outward of the body and configured such that at least a portion of the liner can be disposed between the projection and the body. The cinch further includes a slot having an open end and a closed end, wherein the slot is disposed substantially adjacent the projection and configured such that at least a portion of the liner can be disposed and retained within the slot.

Abstract: A waste storage device is provided including a waste storage cassette receiving chamber (132) for receiving a cassette (172) rotatable within the chamber and containing tubing for enveloping waste. The device further includes a waste inlet and a throat area therebetween, wherein a releasable gripping assembly (155, 158, 159, 168) is provided in the throat area and arranged for actuation between a released configuration defining an aperture for passage of waste therethrough and a gripping configuration defining a restriction in the throat area.

Abstract: The invention consists of a non-self supporting containment bag used in conjunction with a dumpster container. The bag has a zipper or other sealable means, and a series of pick-up or attachment loops or handles that may also be attached to the outer bag material. The bag is constructed of at least two layers, a first layer constructed of woven materials and a second layer constructed of non-woven materials.

Abstract: A system to permit separation of liquid and solid refuse in a single trash bin receptacle to facilitate the reliable sanitary disposal of such mixed items is provided. The overall system includes a trash receptacle device for deposit and separation of liquid and solid refuse including a reservoir for separated liquids as well as an easy-to-use and -operate liquid removal component, and a removable thermoplastic, flexible collection bag with appropriately located openings that allow for fluid transfer via gravitational forces and yet still retains suitable dimensional stability to collect and retain substantially all deposited solid refuse during further transport. Such a new system is particularly useful in retail settings (i.e., restaurants, bars, hospitals, fast food places, and the like) wherein quick clean-up of patrons' refuse is necessary without the requirement for inefficient separation of liquid and solid items by hand.

Abstract: Herein described is a bin for collecting solid waste, in particular urban waste, provided with a device for weighing the products deposited by a single user, of the type made up of two containers, the outer covering one and the inner one for collecting waste. Such bin includes a rigid frame arranged in the gap between the two containers. Such frame rests on four stanchions on the bottom of the more outer container, where the wheels are applied, whereas on the upper edge some load cells are arranged, which support the most inner container so as to be able to detect the weight of the waste deposited in the bin by the user.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device (1) for storing waste, which device (1) is adapted to receive a supply of tubular film (21) and comprises a chamber (15) for receiving waste deposited in the tubular film (21). Further, the foot pedal is operatively associated with the lid and the pair of members so that the lid is in the open position and the pair of members is in the use position when the foot pedal is in the lower position.

Abstract: A receptacle having a lid which has a pair of dampers configured to slow the movement of the lid from an open position toward a closed position. The dampers are provided at opposite ends of a pedal connected to the receptacle body at opposite lateral positions relative to a side of the receptacle body. The receptacle includes an air filtration device mounted in its lid which guides air through the filter device during the downward motion of the lid. The receptacle also includes at least one damper which provides dampening forces against the motion of the lid in both opening and closing directions. The receptacle also includes an anti-sliding device which increases the receptacle's resistance to sliding across a floor when a user steps on a pedal to actuate the lid.

Abstract: An apparatus which is used to very securely retain a disposable trash bag onto the upper interior circumference of the trash receptacle portion of a janitorial cart. It includes a retaining ring which is securely retained by spring force action against the upper interior rim of the trash receptacle. A trigger mechanism is used to lock the retaining ring in a raised condition over the upper interior circumference so that the open ends of a disposable trash bag are inserted between the retaining ring and the upper interior surface. The trigger mechanism is retained in place by engaging teeth which engage ratcheted receiving teeth. A pair of pushbuttons serve to release the trigger mechanisms so that the return spring force causes the retaining ring to move upwardly and release the entrapped disposable garbage bag.

Abstract: A dual bin waste receptacle is disclosed having a bin assembly comprised of a pair of bins sharing a single divider between them. The bins are waterproof and leak proof. The tops of each respective bin has a continuous rim that a trash liner may be folded over. A complementary dual lid assembly is also provided that snaps onto the bin assembly thereby pinching both of the trash liners. The lid assembly is hinged in the middle, essentially over the divider that allows access to and trash liner removal from each side independently.

Abstract: An apparatus is illustrated for collecting containers and that includes a storage receptacle having an access door and a support tray. The storage receptacle has an opening through which a container is inserted for receipt on the support tray. The support tray has an initial substantially horizontal position. A scanner detects the presence of the container on the support tray. A collection bag is supported in the storage receptacle at a bottom thereof and for receiving a plurality of containers. The collection bag is accessible via the access door. A mechanism is responsive to the scanner detecting the presence of the container for releasing the container from the support tray to enable the container to fall into the collection bag. The container is released by the support tray pivoting from the substantially horizontal position to an angled position to thus enable the container to fall into the collection bag.

Abstract: Snapable narrow width rectangular dust pan that can clip about a flat side outer edge of the open end of a refuse container having curved or flat side open rim edges. The dust pan can be used for converting a refuse container into a dust pan refuse container. The receptacle can include an open upper end with a D-shaped configuration and a closed bottom end with a substantially circular bottom configuration. The receptacle can have a generally cylindrical shape and a flat side wall having a triangular tubular shape for allowing the receptacle to be laid on its side so that rakes and brooms can move debris into the D-shaped opening. At least one handle located on the apex of the D-shaped opening allows the container to be lifted to a vertical standing position, and curved interior wall surfaces allow debris to slide toward the bottom of the container.

Abstract: A container includes a base wall and a pair of opposed side walls extending upward from side edges of the base wall. A first end wall and a second end wall extend upward from end edges of the base wall. A lid is hingeably connected to each of the side walls. A first protrusion protrudes from an upper edge of the first end wall for hooking onto a bag in the container.

Abstract: A vented trash receptacle has integral or insertable elongated rectangular panels, which can be flat or convex. The panels create vertical airways along the corners or sides of the trash receptacle, such that air can enter at the top of the panel and flow down the sides of the receptacle and into the bottom below the liner bag. To prevent obstruction of the airway by the liner, the vent panel can be perforated at intervals along its length, and/or it contain a vent opening at its lower edge.

Abstract: Waste disposal device includes a container, a lid, and a rotation mechanism that rotates a waste-containing member when present in the container. A slide mechanism enables opening movement of the lid to cause the rotation mechanism to rotate the waste-containing member or prevent the rotation mechanism from rotating the waste-containing member depending on its setting. A foot pedal assembly includes a foot pedal and a spring, and causes both opening of the lid when the foot pedal is depressed and closure of the lid when the pressing force is removed. The spring is moved against its bias upon depression of the foot pedal and returns to its original state when the pressing force is removed to cause closure of the lid and rotation of the waste-containing member. The device may be used for medical waste from hospitals, doctors' offices, home health care personnel and facilities, nursing homes, and biohazard laboratories.

Abstract: A system comprising a multiple-bag pack supported for dispensing, loading, and removal of bags on a structure. The pack includes a bag-attachment portion wherein the multiple bags are sequentially attached. Each bag is removable in sequence by separation from the pack along a parting feature. The bags are contained within the structure and the bag-attachment portion is folded outwards over a lip to secure the bag pack. The front edge of the outermost bag of the pack is drawn over another lip to open the bag for loading. The rear edge remains attached to the bag pack, thus fully distending the mouth of the bag. To change bags, the rear edge of the bag is separated from the pack and the first lip along the parting structure. The front edge of the loaded bag is removed from the second lip, and the bag is closed and removed from the structure.

Abstract: A trash bag receptacle with trash bag dispenser system has an open top, a bottom floor, and a front wall. The front wall of the container has a slotted opening which extends from the bottom floor upwards along substantially the entire length of the front wall. A channel member with an open top and bottom extends inward into the container, enclosing the slotted opening within the container. A base section supporting the container has an interior space in which a roll of trash bags is rotatably mounted. A single trash bag from the roll is threaded from the interior space and through the channel. The trash bag exits from the open top of the channel where its perforation is separated from the roll of trash bags. The adjacent, next trash bag on the roll remains in the channel member. A new, clean trash bag is thus easily accessible to the user by simply pulling the next trash bag which is exposed through the open top of the channel member.

Abstract: A securing device for securing a garbage bag in a garbage receptacle featuring an elongated U-shaped base bar having a front panel and a back panel connected via a connector segment, the base bar is adapted to snugly wrap over a top edge of the garbage receptacle simultaneously sandwiching the garbage bag; an anchor component with a first attachment means for securing the anchor component to the garbage receptacle; and a cord connecting the anchor component and the base bar.

Abstract: Methods for using a liner in a waste sorting and disposal system are provided. The liner includes an internal space and an opening that provides access to that internal space. In some embodiments, the liner may also include a machine-readable identification key that is configured to identify a type of waste that the liner may receive. In some embodiments, the machine-readable key is optical, color-coded, alphanumeric or graphical. The liner can include one or more closure members to allow a user to securely seal the liner when it is removed from the container. In some embodiments, the liner can include a flange, lip, hook or other protrusion to secure its position relative to a container.

Abstract: An apparatus is illustrated for collecting containers and that includes a storage receptacle having an access door and a support tray. The storage receptacle has an opening through which a container is inserted for receipt on the support tray. The support tray has an initial substantially horizontal position. A scanner detects the presence of the container on the support tray. A collection bag is supported in the storage receptacle at a bottom thereof and for receiving a plurality of containers. The collection bag is accessible via the access door. A mechanism is responsive to the scanner detecting the presence of the container for releasing the container from the support tray to enable the container to fall into the collection bag. The container is released by the support tray pivoting from the substantially horizontal position to an angled position to thus enable the container to fall into the collection bag.

Abstract: A diaper pail includes a pail, an upper enclosure having a substantially smooth and continuous outer surface, and a drum assembly mounted within the upper enclosure for transferring a soiled diaper into a disposal bag while minimizing the release of odor from previously disposed diapers already within the disposal bag. The outer surface of the upper enclosure and drum cooperate to form a smooth continuous outer surface which is easily cleaned. The drum assembly includes a flexible plastic seal received around an opening in the lower portion of the drum housing. A deck portion of the seal engages an outer surface of the drum, with the free edge of the flexible seal being movable relative to fixed edge to conform to irregularities in the outer surface of the drum. An actuator handle actuates movement of the drum.

Abstract: Waste disposal device that receives a waste-containing member includes a container defining a waste-receiving compartment having an opening, a lid having a closed position covering the opening and an open position in which the opening is exposed, and a rotation mechanism arranged in the container to rotate the waste-containing member when present. The rotation mechanism is arranged to rotate the waste-containing member upon closure of the lid without manual handling of the lid. A foot pedal assembly includes a depressible foot pedal and a spring, and is arranged to cause both opening of the lid when the foot pedal is depressed and closure of the lid when the pressing force is removed. The spring is moved against its bias upon depression of the foot pedal and returns to its original state when the pressing force is removed to thereby cause closure of the lid and rotation of the waste-containing member.

Abstract: A disposable portable toilet that is efficiently fabricated from foldable stock, such as corrugated cardboard, with minimal waste and adapted with a fluid absorbing inner liner is disclosed. Foldable stock material is formed as a blank sheet having a plurality of fold lines defining multiple panels disposed in side-by-side relation, and a joining tab. Each panel includes a fold-in tab that functions to provide a rim. The blank sheet provides a structure that may be configured to form a support structure that is selectively configurable from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration. An absorbent liner is insertedly received within the support structure. Padding sections are disposed on the liner in proximity to overlay the top rim of the support structure when the liner is received therein thereby providing the device with a padded upper rim. A drawstring functions as a closure member to close the liner after use.

Abstract: A waste container includes a top chamber, a base chamber, upper and lower lids, and a drive mechanism mechanically coupling the lower lid with the upper lid. The upper lid is disposed on the top chamber and moves between a closed position covering a first opening and an open position exposing the first opening. The lower lid is disposed on the base chamber and moves between a closed position covering a second opening and an open position exposing the second opening. The drive mechanism is actuated so as to move the lower lid to the open position when the upper lid moves to the closed position from the open position. The lower lid returns to the closed position when the upper lid is in the closed position.

Abstract: A waste can comprises a receptacle having a rim with at least one bag lock located on the rim. The bag lock has a first portion defining a cavity and a second portion movable with respect to the first portion between a first position where it is locked to the first portion and a second position where it is spaced from the first portion. The second portion locks a trash bag in the cavity when in the first position.

Abstract: A garbage bin in which, when the opening of a container in which garbage is placed is closed by a lid, odor emanating from the garbage does not leak to the outside from a gap between the container and the lid. The garbage bin includes an outer container, an inner container placed inside the outer container and in which garbage is placed, an openable/closable outer lid pivotally attached to the outer container and closing the opening of the outer container, and an inner lid attached to the lower surface of the outer lid and moving together with the outer lid. The lower surface of the inner lid is in intimate contact with the upper end of the inner container when the opening of the outer container is closed by the outer lid.

Abstract: A trashcan includes a trash bag that has a top end that defines a mouth and a body having a surrounding wall and a top edge that defines a mouth. A bag engaging portion is formed in the surrounding wall proximate the top edge of the body. The bag engaging portion is at least substantially aligned with a surface of said surrounding wall. A portion of the trash bag is inserted through the bag engaging portion of the body. The bag engaging portion includes a plurality of at least four fingers extending away from a center of the bag engaging portion, and the fingers do not include pointed ends all converging toward a common point.

Abstract: A recycling center receivable on a supporting surface is provided. The recycling center includes first and second sidewalls. Each sidewall has a forward edge, a rearward edge, an upper edge and an inner surface such that the inner surfaces of the sidewalls define a recycle receiving chamber. A bag slide slidably is mounted within recycle receiving chamber. The bag slide is movable between a first retracted position wherein the bag slide is received within the recycle receiving chamber and an extended position wherein at least a portion of the bag slide projects from the recycle receiving chamber. A first bag retainer is pivotably mounted to the bag slide for receiving a first portion of upper end of a first bag thereon. The first bag retainer is pivotable between a first position and a second retaining position for supporting the first bag in an open configuration.

Abstract: A collapsible container defined by a continuous rigid structure and an integrated internal truss system. The continuous rigid structure is preferably four-sided such that it defines four continuous surfaces of a cube. The continuous rigid structure is collapsible due to at least one scoring line defined on at least one surface thereof. The internal truss system includes at least one inelastic member that is threaded through the surfaces of the continuous rigid structure to form a symmetrical and unitary support. A liner may be integrally affixed to each of the four sides and additionally provides a fifth side that forms the bottom of the container. A protective cover may be secured to the exterior of the continuous rigid structure for protecting the contained materials against the elements. The cover can be selectively sealed for rendering the container of the present invention substantially impervious to the elements.

Abstract: A shredding/recycling paper collection system and device, wherein a cabinet-style housing with a self-locking door is adapted with a paper guard member to prevent unauthorized reach-in access and assist with directional feed, and wherein the door-mounted paper guard member and the uniquely supported collection bag hangers facilitate easy authorized access to collection bag contents, while also providing secure positioning for weighty materials within the housing.

Abstract: A refuse receptacle includes an outer enclosure having an upper frame member with an opening through which refuse can be deposited into the outer enclosure, and a cover movably mounted on the upper frame member between a position normally closing the opening and a position which permits refuse to be deposited through the opening into the outer enclosure. A tubular refuse holder is mounted on a spring plate in the outer enclosure, the refuse holder including an upper open end for receiving refuse deposited through the opening. A plurality of coil springs are provided between the spring plate and a ledge in the enclosure to bias the refuse holder toward the upper frame member such that there is engagement of the upper open end of the refuse holder against the upper frame member to provide a seal thereat.

Abstract: An apparatus for securing a trash bag in a container is disclosed, where the apparatus has a removable and replaceable scented bag retaining element which extends outwardly from the main body of the apparatus. The main body has a pair of spaced channel arms that receive, guide and support the retaining element in proper position against the main body, and the replaceable scented retaining element has a releasable locking tab which is received by and locks within a slot in the main body of the apparatus. A central membrane of the retaining element has a number of slits that form a number of flexible flaps which deform when pressed to received and retain the trash bag. The main body is adhesively mountable to the outer surface of the container.

Abstract: Waste disposal device adapted to receive a waste-containing member includes a container defining a waste-receiving compartment having an opening, a lid connected to the container and lid having a first, closed position covering the opening of the container and a second, open position in which the opening is exposed, and a rotation mechanism arranged in the container to rotate the waste-containing member when present in the container. The rotation mechanism is arranged to rotate the waste-containing member upon closure of the lid without manual handling of the lid.

Abstract: The present invention is a bag (1) composed of multiple removable bags (10) (9) (8) (7) (6) (5), forming a set (1) with bags disposed in layers (5). It is designed to be used especially in places that accumulate and/or collect grit/dirt, both in hydraulic plants and in isolated places, such as trash cans and temporary toilets. It is also appropriate for places where products are separated manually. It resolves the difficulties of the first steps of placement of bags end reduces the time spent on carrying out maintenance, bringing benefits both due to its lower cost and the less time of exposure to an uncomfortable body position for its users. The set (1) is set in place, and the innermost bag (10) of the set is removed after being used, taking with it its contents; after that, the place is immediately ready for use. After the first bag is used and removed, the second ,0g (9) is, and so forth, until all the bags have been used.
