  • Patent number: 4865231
Abstract: A swivel-up type dispensing package is disclosed. The package includes a product chamber with an elevator therein to move the product axially. A feed screw and nut are associated with the elevator and relative rotary motion between the feed screw and nut serve to move the elevator axially. The package also includes a button adapted to be depressed by the user in a direction which is generally transverse to the axis of body of the dispensing package. The transverse movement of the button is converted to rotary input to either the feed screw or nut to cause one to rotate relative the other and thereby move the elevator. In the described embodiment the button has an integral pawl which during the transverse movement engages ratchet teeth affixed to a wheel mounted perpendicularly to the axis of the body, causing the wheel to rotate through an arc subtended by driven teeth.

Abstract: A paint dispenser in the form of a housing which mounts a paint filled syringe at one end and has a rod which moves axially, under the control of a trigger, to dispense paint from the syringe. Trigger movement in one direction acts through a cup shaped device to move the rod axially to feed paint, while the trigger is disengaged from the rod during its return movement.

  • Patent number: 4653673
Abstract: A positive displacement pump (10) for precisely dispensing liquids through a dispensing tube (126) in which there is a pump body (12) having a shaft (18) fitted for reciprocating therein. Incremental adjusting nuts (24, 26) on an outer end (22) of the shaft limit the movement thereof in a pumping direction. There is a first friction clamp (46) pivotally mounted adjacent one of its ends on the other end (48) of the shaft and a second friction clamp (82) is pivotally mounted adjacent one of its ends on a member (80) fixed to the body (12) adjacent the other end (48) of the shaft (18). The other ends of the clamps (46, 82) have cylindrical openings (66, 92) in substantial alignment to receive a hardened, smoothly finished pump rod (102). The pump rod is precisely aligned in bushings (98, 100) secured to the pump body. There are springs (70) and (90) biasing the clamps between the pivotal mountings and the cylindrical openings against the direction of pumping.

  • Patent number: 4643337
Abstract: A dispenser for viscous materials such as toothpaste is disclosed. The dispenser comprises an elongated container having a spout at its upper end and a rockable finger actuator operable to dispense contents when depressed. The actuator is connected to an elongated operating rod which is coupled to a follower by means of a spray clutch which causes the follower to move upwardly in the container in increments in response to rocking motion of the actuator. The lower end of the operating rod is connected to a base member having a resilient portion and a peripheral recess which receives the lower end of the container. The resilient portion of the base member pulls the operating rod downwardly for repositioning the same after each stroke of the actuator, and the operating rod pulls upwardly on the base member to securely mount the same to the container.

  • Patent number: 4641766
Abstract: A dispensing device including a hollow cylindrical body from which a high viscosity composition is discharged in precisely metered doses by a plunger rod longitudinally movable within the body. A series of projection are formed at equispaced, longitudinal intervals from each other on the plunger rod. A pair of parallel actuating arms pivotally mounted on the body extend along opposite side of the plunger rod and are formed with a pair of teeth, respectively, projecting inward toward the rod. By depressing the arms, the teeth pivot into engagement with one of the projections to advance the plunger within the body to expel a desired amount of composition. In a preferred embodiment, advancement of the plunger rod through a precise distance is automatically controlled via contact between the teeth with stop surfaces formed on the next in-line projection.

  • Patent number: 4591072
Abstract: A repeating dispenser for dispensing uniform quantities of liquid includes an actuator rotatably connected to an actuating button. The actuator is biased upward by a spring towards a downwardly facing abutment in the non-actuated condition of the dispenser and is connected through a vertically displaceable rack shaft to a slide which releaseably mounts a cylinder piston device comprising a plurality of identical pistons and cylinders. An operating rod connects the slide to a suction button which is slideable along the outside surface of the dispenser. A pawl cooperates with the rack shaft and is kept from engagement with the rack shaft in the non-actuated condition of the dispenser. The actuating button includes a series of step-like stop portions engageable with an upwardly facing abutment to allow the repeated dispensing of uniform quantities of liquid.

  • Patent number: 4589870
Abstract: A manually operated actuator is described with which small incremental motions of a rod are obtained to advance a piston of a prefilled syringe. The device employs a reciprocally actuated drive element with a hole through which the rod passes freely when the drive element is in a release position. When the drive element is pivoted to a rod engaging position a pair of edges formed by the hole engage the rod and advance it an increment depending upon the amount of linear movement of the drive element. A back-up inhibitor is employed to prevent the rod from moving back when the drive element is returned to a release position. The back-up inhibitor is syringe responsive by employing a mechanism which causes engagement of the rod by the inhibitor when a syringe is attached to the actuator housing. A syringe with specially adapted flanges is described for use with the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4581022
Abstract: A precision injection system for intralignmental anesthesia and the like having a syringe with a tubular handle portion which is removably connected a tubular headpiece as a longitudinal extension thereof. The headpiece receives a carpule cartridge with injection contents monitored during injections through elongate windows on opposite sides of the headpiece. A dosing plunger housed in the handle portion in a retracted start position is activated by a servo-dosing lever and advances incrementally axially into the headpiece for delivery of metered quantities of the contents of the carpule cartridge each time the servo-dosing lever is actuated. Provision is made for semiautomatic resetting of the dosing plunger to a retracted start position by depressing a resetting key and raising the syringe to a generally vertically raised position.

  • Patent number: 4566610
Abstract: A device for the measured or dosed dispensing of a putty-like or paste-like multi-component substance stored in separate containers includes a housing for holding the containers with a separate piston and piston rod unit for each container mounted in the housing. To prevent displacement of the piston-piston rod unit in the direction opposite to the dispensing direction, each piston rod is provided with a stop member. By pressing a hand lever pivotally mounted in the housing, a drive device connected to the lever grips the piston-piston rod units and moves them in the dispensing direction. The stop member permits movement in the dispensing direction but prevents the movement of the piston rod in the opposite direction when the hand lever-drive device is released.
