Abstract: A dispensing closure is provided for attachment to the discharge port of a standard circular-headed tube. The closure comprises a skirt with a circular cross-sectional shape at its base that merges gradually to an oval-shaped face at its top. When the closure is attached to a standard circular-headed tube, with the long axis of the oval face oriented substantially parallel to the straight crimped edge of the filled tube, the combination of closure and tube appears to the ordinary observer to have a continuously oval cross-sectional shape throughout the length of the combination. The dispensing closure can be manufactured using typical injection-molding techniques, and may be adapted for use with dispensing mechanisms and attachment means known in the personal care products industry.

  • Patent number: 6223942
Abstract: A container for dispensing two products kept separate prior to application, for example, surfactant and skin benefit agent. The container comprising two chambers, adhered to each other. Although the chambers are essentially identical when viewed from their respective distal walls, they are adhered to each other at an offset so that from any view, both chambers can be seen. Preferably, the chambers include in their proximal walls complementary raised and recessed portions, e.g., protuberances and depressions, which assist the alignment of the chambers in an offset. A closure preferably comprises a peripheral flange and a wall extending transversely of the flange and including at least two product egress openings. Product egress channels on the underside of the transverse wall may lead to the product egress openings. Preferably attached to the closure base, for example by a hinge, is a closure cover.

  • Patent number: 6179147
Abstract: A closure for a package that is adapted for mounting to a surface of the package includes a mounting flange having substantially planar upper and lower surfaces that define a thickness and define a flange plane. A spout extends from the upper surface of the flange and has an inner wall defining a dispensing opening. • Patent number: 6170719
Abstract: A specimen safety closure is provided for sealing an open top of a test tube during the collection, transfer, and shipment of specimens to analytical laboratories. The closure includes an oblong transfer port for allowing transfer of the liquid specimen from a male reservoir outlet into the tube. A barrier wall and annular skirt provide leakage protection from the test tube connection. Also included is a cylindrical vent tube extending from the bottom of the safety closure. The vent tube has a supporting disk which has a very small hole in its bottom to provide venting. The vent tube also performs the function of filling the tube passively while stopping the liquid specimen from filling at a predetermined volume. Both the transfer port and vent tube are located off the center axis for providing maximum filling speed. The transfer port and vent tube are positioned in opposite directions for providing uninterrupted transfer of the liquid specimen. The safety closure further includes a snap lid.

  • Patent number: 6170683
Abstract: A two stage dispensing cap for a carbonated beverage container is described. The cap has a flip top which is hingedly connected to a collar wherein the collar is rotatable on the container. The cap, upon rotation of the collar, is first opened into a venting position wherein the flip top vents the pressurized contents of the container but remains locked partially closed. Continued rotation of the cap releases the locked flop top to allow the container to be fully opened. A set of cams on the container neck work in conjunction with annular beads to first allow partially opening of the flip top into the venting position and then allowing it to fully open.

  • Patent number: 6164503
Abstract: A screw-on closure for bottles that initially works with an induction seal liner and provides a leak resistant reseal on the bottle after the liner is removed. The closure has a unique annular convex sealing surface that overlies the mouth of the bottle. The sealing surface and the closure body area supporting it are sufficiently massive to withstand the heat generated in an induction liner sealing process and have a geometry that promotes a line contact with the mouth of the bottle to ensure a drip resistant reclose. A dispensing aperture of the cap is sealed by a hinged flap that has its sealing surface areas strategically located relative to the hinge to ensure repeated drip free opening and closing dispensing operation.
