  • Patent number: 5332131
Abstract: A kicker latch for container closures includes a latch wall integrally hinged to the cap and having a latch tab extending from an end of the latch wall toward the cap and kicker lever extending in generally the same direction and spaced from the latch tab. In general, pivoting the kicker latch outwardly causes the kicker lever to urge a closure member of the cap away from its closed position to facilitate grasping the closure member to pivot it to its fully open position. On a folding spout type of cap, wherein the folding spout functions as a closure member, the latch wall may include a plug positioned between the latch tab and the kicker lever to seal the end of the spout. In general, the kicker latch has utility with a variety of types of container closures, including caps with nonfolding spouts, open top types of caps for pills and granulates, and containers for which the closure member is a lid which is completely separable from the container.

  • Patent number: 5314093
Abstract: A toggle-action container dispensing closure is provided for manipulation between a closed, non-dispensing orientation and an open, dispensing orientation. The closure includes an actuator mounted on a body secured to the container. The actuator is tiltable between a closed position and an open position, and the actuator has an engaging tab. A locking ring is mounted on the body for rotation relative to the body and actuator. The ring defines an abutment member for engaging the actuator engaging tab. In one position, the locking ring abutment member lies under the actuator engaging the tab to prevent pivoting of the actuator to the open position. When the locking ring is rotated to another position, the locking ring abutment member clears the actuator engaging tab to permit pivoting of the actuator to the open position.

Abstract: A spout and sealing cap assembly for a container which includes a spout which is connectable to the container, a sealing cap for closing off a dispensing opening in the spout and a bi-stable hinge integrally formed with the sealing cap. The bi-stable hinge maintains the cap only in one of two stable positions, an open position and a closed position. The spout is formed as a first one-piece plastic part with an undercut profile connection portion. The sealing cap is also formed as a second one-piece plastic part with an undercut profile connection portion spaced from the bi-stable hinge. The plastic of the spout is a formed of a more flexible plastic than that of the sealing cap. • Patent number: 5267675
Abstract: Pouring devices for accurate blending of color tinters to a base paint are known, but are generally of metal construction including a spout covered by a movable cover plate, with accurate pouring being due mainly to the rigidity of the metal components providing a sharp flow cut-off upon closure of the plate. The invention provides an accurate pouring device including essentially two plastics components in which a sharp flow cut-off can be achieved irrespective of the natural resilience normally present in plastic material. The two components are a cover plate (3) with an integral operating lever (4), and a spout (10) integral with a support body (1). The support body base (5) is elongate and when fitted to a liquid container engages an extended area of the container wall (19) to provide a stable support and to absorb loads applied to the device during use.

  • Patent number: 5205424
Abstract: There is disclosed a child resistant cap and container assemblage comprising a container and a cap member that is secured to the container so that it can not be removed without either breaking the cap member or damaging the seal that joins the cap member to the container. The cap member is provided with a nozzle having an internal locking means so that the contents of the container can not be accessed when the container is in its normal upright position. To access the contents in the container, the assemblage is titled to disengage the locking means enabling the nozzle to be opened and permitting a user to access the contents of the container using only one hand.

  • Patent number: 5205444
Abstract: A food storage container for dry or liquid foods and other open air perishable products provides a leak-resistant seal when the lid is in a closed position and easy pouring of contents when in the open position. The container is easy to open, employing rocker points to allow for a rocking acting effective to release the lid from a closed position when a downward force is exerted upon an upper surface of the lid thereby providing an effective opening for pouring. A leak-resistant seal is achieved through the use of a plug section of the lid having a continuous outer peripheral surface which effects a close conforming fit with a similarly positioned surface area on the container body in a continuous and positive manner.

  • Patent number: 5201440
Abstract: A container closure includes a body for mounting on the container. The body defines a dispensing orifice. A flow control device, such as a lid, is disposed on the body for being moved between positions opening and closing the dispensing orifice. A tamper-indicating member is provided as a unitary extension from the lid. A first frangible web connects the member to the lid. An anchor is connected with a second frangible web to another portion of the tamper-indicating member, and the anchor is retained by the closure body. The tamper-indicating member also includes a graspable pull tab. The tab can be pulled to completely sever the frangible webs connecting the tamper-indicating member to the lid and to the anchor. This permits the lid to be opened while providing evidence of tampering with the closure.

Abstract: Described is a pouring device of plastic material for fitting to the hole of a flowing medium pack, wherein the pouring device (10) has a portion (20) which is openable by means of a tearing line (25). So that packs of widely different configurations and consisting of a wide range of different materials can be produced in such a way as to be sealed and easily openable, the pouring device (10) has at least a bottom portion (20) and a closure portion (21) which are pivotally movably connected together by way of a hinge (22), wherein the tearing line (25) is disposed in the bottom portion (20).The process for the production of such a pouring device is characterised in that a series of blanks which are arranged in succession in a flat condition and which are in line-wise contact with each other are formed from an endless web of plastic material which can be subjected to deep drawing, and rolled up to form a coil, and the blanks are separated off prior to fitting to the hole in the pack.

Abstract: Assembly (1) for dispensing at least one liquid product or a product in the form of a cream. The assembly comprises a container (2) to which is fixed a distributor head (3) comprising at least one delivery channel. The end of the delivery channel is closed according to the invention by means of a closure system (F) comprising a valve (51) of flexible material which cooperates in the rest position in a non-sealed manner with a fixed rigid seating (41). The valve (51) moves away from the said seating (41) during dispensing by elastic deformation as a result of the pressure of the product to be dispensed, then moves into a position allowing for air recirculation when dispensing is completed. The assembly (1) may comprise, upstream of the closure device (F), a safety device for interrupting the communication between the container (2) and the closure device (F).

  • Patent number: 5139181
Abstract: A fitment made of plastic and adapted to be telescoped over the neck of a jar to facilitate dispensing of the contents of the jar. The fitment includes a top wall having a spoon or pour opening adapted to be selectively closed by a flap which is hinged to the top wall to swing between closed and open positions, the flap being formed with sift holes to allow the contents to be sifted from the jar when the flap is closed. The lower sides of the top wall and the flap are flat and, when the flap is closed, lie in a common plane so as to define a flat and planar surface for supporting and backing a paper-like disc for initially sealing the jar. A circumferentially continuous skirt depends from the top wall and engages a bead on the neck of the jar to hold the fitment on the jar. When the flap is closed, a lift tab on the flap fits into a notch in the top wall and overlies an arcuate section of the skirt.
