Publication number: 20040031842Abstract: A rugged, hand-held container for storing beverage containers is formed by folding together multiple panels defined in a pre-scored, slot-less blank Each blank comprises a rectangular center panel integrally bordered by a pair of end panels and side panels. Integral, diametrically spaced apart corner panels interconnect the center panel with the other panels. Score lines between the adjacent panels facilitate folding. The center panel forms a cooler bottom, and blank end and side panels respectively form carton ends and sides. Each end panel has an outer locking panel comprising an elongated receptive slot. Each side panel has an integral outer handle panel comprising an inner roof segment that forms the container top and handle segments with locking tabs that are captivated within the receptive slot. A radiused locking tab ramp comprises an enlarged portion providing an overcenter action. Notches adjacent the tabs captivate the locking panels.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2003Publication date: February 19, 2004Applicant: STEPHEN D. CARVERInventors: Frank E. Westerman, Frank G. Patent number: 6581823Abstract: The present invention relates to a readily assembled pastry box that includes a pair of panels extending from opposite sides to form a pair of convenient carrying handles with a finger engaging slot therein, thus eliminating the need for string tying. The box is provided in blank form of conventional card stock and includes appropriate cuts and fold lines for convenient storage and easy assembly. It further includes multiple abutting side portions that interlock with latches to provide reinforcement and stability to protect the contents therein. Although referred to as a pastry box, it finds utility in carrying many other items as well. The unique handles allow for carrying its contents in a horizontal position without fear of damage during transit. The fold lines are optionally provided with slight indentations or perforations over portions thereof to facilitate the folding when assembling the box.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2002Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Inventor: Thom De Beck

Patent number: 6390299Abstract: This invention relates to carrier straps for carrying prepared foods, such as rotisserie chickens, roasted turkey, roasted ham, side dishes or deserts. Such structures of this type, generally, employ a one-handed, paperboard strap which is wrapped around the plastic tray and plastic domed lid package in which the prepared food is located. The carrier strap secures the prepared food package and transports it so that the purchaser's hands do not get greasy or hot. Also, the carrier strap functions to provide a printable surface to identify flavor and brand.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2001Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Assignee: Westvaco Corp.Inventors: Mark Mellon, William Roger Rigby

Patent number: 6290124Abstract: A container including an outer shell, a flexible bag within the outer shell, a mouth and a handle. The outer shell has a top, a bottom and sidewalls. The outer shell also defines an opening. The flexible bag within the outer shell defines an aperture. The mouth is secured to said flexible bag surrounding said aperture and defines a fluid passageway. The mouth is sized and shaped such that fluid can be poured through the mouth from a source having an outlet spaced above the mouth. The handle extends outward from said top of said outer shell and has sufficient strength to provide essentially all support for said container when the bag is filled with liquid in either of two positions, with the first position being where the opening is facing upwards and the second position being where opening is facing sidewards. Desirably, the mouth and opening are sized and shaped such that when the opening is facing upwards the human eye can detect when a level of fluid in the container is approaching the mouth.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: J & M Coffee Container Co, Inc.Inventors: Jared P. Publication number: 20010010328Abstract: An unfolding box the base of which is quadrilateral in shape, and its sides are extended by two main flaps and two secondary flaps, respectively associated with two opposite sides by a folding line, the flaps have no folds and their width increases from the base side, their edge being convex, to decrease again towards the flap ends. The main flaps are extended by a blocking and gripping strip, the secondary flaps are curved against the edges of the main flaps bearing against them.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2001Publication date: August 2, 2001Inventor: Frederic Itey

Patent number: 6253993Abstract: The present invention is directed to a self-erecting container formed from the rapid deployment of flattened, partially articulated and/or pre-glued blanks into an articulated orientation, for the facilitated containment and dispensing of fluid articles. The self-erecting container comprises a bottom panel, two end panels, two side panels, and a pair of corner panels joining each end panel to each side panel. One of each pair of corner panels is affixed to one of opposed side or end panels, forming a container pocket having a substantially collapsed orientation. Upon raising of the end or side panels, respectively, the corner panels cause the respective side or end panels to be automatically be raised relative to the bottom panel, and the container pocket prompted to a substantially upright and expanded orientation. The container further comprises a fluid article holding bag attached to a nozzle, which is inserted into at least one aperture in one of the bottom, end and side panels.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1999Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Assignee: Stone Container CorporationInventors: Michael M.
