Abstract: A modular pilot kneeboard system with detachable and interchangeable side pockets and accessories is herein disclosed. Each side edge of a main base plate is equipped with a zipper edge that allows add-on pieces, each with a mating zipper edge, to be zippered onto the main base plate and folded over like a conventional binder. Such side pieces are envisioned to provide pockets, straps, compartments and the like to hold additional items such as flight calculators, GPS systems flashlights, pens, and virtually any item a pilot may need quick access to during a flight. These items can attach by the aforementioned zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, snaps, elastic bands, clips and the like.

Abstract: The pocket folder has a closed pocket on the back section with each side of the closed pocket being freely expandable. Flaps that form the ends of the closed pocket are separated by a fold line into two contiguous parts that are hinged to each other to allow expansion of the pocket. The pocket folder is fabricated from a one-piece blank of any suitable material such as paper, paperboard or plastic and has score lines on at least the back section to permit expansion when materials are inserted into the closed pocket.

Abstract: A pocket assembly includes a major panel and a pocket panel coupled together to define a pocket between the panels. A divider is placed in the pocket to partition the pocket into two or more compartments. The divider comprises a securing element secured to at least one of the major and pocket panels.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an expandable protective pocket arrangement comprising a back panel, two or more front side panels and at least one connecting member for connecting said front side panels, the connecting member or members being arranged to adjust the distance between the front side panels. The present invention provides for a protective system which is expandable and thus able to enclose paper documents and other essentially flat media such as a laptop computers and portable electronic devices. This kind of protection system is particularly well suited to holding office paperwork and study materials. In the form of a simple pocket, it is also a useful addition to many existing filing products, such as a ring binders and lever arch files, which frequently include a way in which to accommodate un(hole)punched pages and other loose documents and reports.

Abstract: A folder system with an accordion spine 16, and a method of making same is disclosed. The folder may have a plurality of insert elements 52, 60 either at manufacture or by a stub system which are bound into the spine at the valleys 32 of the web which forms the spine. The web is made of outer zig-zag web 40, with the inner web 42, 44, 46 joining adjacent insert elements and the outer web, to create a strong spine of web and inserts.

Abstract: A file folder for the storage of documents, electronic media, and other things, made of stiff paper or plastic/vinyl stock and/or other appropriate material which is to be self-assembled by the user. The file folder is comprised of one sheet of pre-cut material which, through a series of folds, slots, and tabs, forms the entire file folder for papers, CD's, and other things. The invention will usually be sized for storage of papers from 8½×11 inches to 8½×14 inches, in appropriate widths from 1? to 6?, but may be any number of other dimensions. Manufacturing the file folder from one sheet, plus self-assembly by the user, promises savings to the user and a strong file folder which can be made even more so by the addition of tape reinforcement should the end user so desire.

Abstract: A file with a card-receiving recess is disclosed. The file comprises a first panel comprising a first layer and a backing layer, that contains an opening extending from the first layer to the backing layer, and a second panel hingedly associated with the first panel. The backing layer is configured to support a displayed sheet element in a position such that it is visible through the opening of the first layer, and the displayed sheet element is at least partially received within the thickness of the first surface and the backing layer. The backing layer contains an adhesive disposed thereon within the opening for securing the displayed sheet element to the backing.

Abstract: A dual-purpose file folder includes a main body with a bearing plate, upper/lower and left/right folded plates. A first mobile folded plate includes two first folding flanges, and a first insertion strip on the first folding flange. A second mobile folded plate includes two second folding flanges, and a second insertion strip on the second folding flange. A folding locating position includes folding insertion holes. A framing locating position includes framing insertion holes. When the strips on the folding flanges are inserted into the folding insertion holes, the folded plates of the main body can be covered onto the bearing plate in a folding state. Alternatively, when the insertion strips are inserted into framing insertion holes, the folded plates of the main body can be incorporated into a standing frame, thus forming a holding space with the bearing plate.

Abstract: A tabbing apparatus is provided that includes a pocket and a tab element disposed within the pocket in a retracted position. The tab element includes an indexing segment configured for protruding from the pocket in an extended position as a tab and for being received within the pocket in the retracted position, an anchor portion attached to the pocket, and an intermediate portion connecting the anchor portion and indexing segment and configured for folding to allow the indexing segment to move between the retracted position and the extended position. The indexing segment is configured for displaying writing thereon for indexing a file.

Abstract: A file having first and second cover panels pivotally connected to each other at a hinge for movement between an open and closed position may be provided. The cover panels can overlap each other in the closed position to contain papers of a predetermined size therebetween. One or more superimposed pocket panels can be coupled to an inside of the first cover panel to define overlapping pockets dimensioned to hold the papers. The pocket panels can have first edge portions that define openings to the pockets, and the first edge portions can be staggered. The pocket panels may include an outermost pocket panel with an additional coupled edge. A labeling member can be provided that is associated with each pocket panel and configured for displaying identification information. The labeling members can extend beyond papers held in the pockets and can comprise tabs that can be staggered from each other.

Abstract: The folder is formed from a single sheet, folded along a fold line to form opposing walls. Each wall, at its top, includes a retaining portion that folds over a metal or plastic channel rod and includes a series of horizontally-spaced holes. The holes extend vertically over the lower edge or a rib of the channel rod. Each channel rod extends laterally past the edge of the folder and includes notches or hook ends that engage a pair of rails. Each tab includes a clip portion that opens downward. The clip portion includes two vertically-oriented inner faces, one or both of which includes inward-facing dimples or protrusions that fit at least partially into the holes in the retaining portion. At least one optional protrusion may be locating, meaning that the top of the protrusion does not engage the channel rod when the tab is fully attached.

Abstract: A folded folder track with sliding tab either writable and/or channel tab which travels along the folded track area of the folder whereby the user can position the tab wherever it is needed along the top horizontal edge of the folder. This allows every tab in the filing system to be moved into a convenient, viewable position. Also, the user will be able to maintain the files in alpha numeric order without the tabs being hidden behind other tabs or without hiding other tabs which provides for quick and efficient retrieval of folders and the filing of folders. This folded folder track and writable tab will be of various lengths and colors to be of greater value for the user with multiple identification needs.

The integral 2-D (flat) tab 300 is provided near the apex of the folder by cutting free/lose a portion of the existing flap material 14 of the hanging folder itself without the need for additional tabs or material being affixed. The cut creates the tab without additional material required. The 3-D tab 300 version is created adding a triangular portion 301 which is folded onto itself so that one edge surface is at an angle relative to the panels of the file folder allowing it to be read from the side and top. A perforated version allows for user selectable tab and a plurality of placements across the common edge allows the user to select the tab position.

A closure mechanism is provided to fasten the closure cover to the front panel. A file assembly is disposed in the compact storage organizer that includes at least one divider with a magnetic tab system disposed in the enclosed opening between the front and rear panels defining at least two envelope containers sequentially disposed adjacent to each other. The magnetic tab system may be pre-printed and personalized according to a user's preference.

Abstract: A tab system for a folder (10a), and a method of making same is disclosed. The tab is enlarged to carry more information/indicia. The visual indicia space (16a), i.e. the viewable space on the front (32a, 36a) of the folder which allows viewing of the enlarged tab is achieve without violating the overall size restrictions (40a) of the file folder. Instead, the front of the folder adjacent to the tab on the back panel, is cut away (32a,34a) to expose a greater portion of the back panel (14a) and allow an increase in visual indicia space. The remaining portion of the front panel, not adjacent to the tab may also be cut away (34a) to allow other enlarged tab files, with offset tabs, (22d, 21a) to be viewable behind the present file.

According to the invention, the clip body may be provided with a defined grip point by means of a projection embossed in the centre of at least the front clip jaw, the apex of which faces the yoke of the clip body.

One embodiment is directed to a folder comprising a first panel, a second panel coupled to the first panel, at least one tab mating feature associated with the second panel, and a tab configured to mate with the at least one tab mating feature. The at least one tab mating feature is configured such that the tab is positionable in at least two positions along a first axis adjacent a first edge of the second panel and in at least two positions along a second axis adjacent a second edge of the second panel, wherein the first axis is transverse to the second axis.

Abstract: A file folder system is disclosed which allows the manufacturer to display indicia information (such as source indicia, such as a trademark) to the folder without detracting from the utility of the folder itself. Several embodiments are disclosed include a notch in one folder panel which creates a window in the other panel where the indicia in imprinted. In another embodiment, one panel is punched through to reveal portions of the other panel. These apertures are formed in the pattern of the desired indicia, so that the user can determine if there are contents in the folder and simultaneously, the indicia is permanently displayed without obstructing the use of the folder.

A method of making the folder includes the steps of providing folder material stock comprising polymeric material, providing embossing dies in spaced, operable, mating relationship, positioning the folder material stock appropriately in the embossing dies, applying force to at least one of the embossing dies so as to decrease the spaced relationship, and deforming the folder material stock.

Abstract: A multi-layer file folder is disclosed, in which a laminate is bonded to the exterior of a thick, supporting manila interior element. By means of lamination, combinations of materials can be used which would otherwise be impossible or impractical. The index tab, as viewed from the front of the folder, is the color of the interior element, typically manila, and provides for a high-contrast writing surface on the index tab.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments according to the present invention relate to a file comprising a cover member with front and back cover panels that are hinged to each other for movement between open and closed positions, wherein the cover panels in the closed position define an interior space configured and dimensioned for containing a plurality of stacked papers. The cover panels may have first and second corners disposed opposite from the hinge. At least one of the cover panels may comprise a tab portion extending away from the hinge and disposed between the corners. First and second elastic retention elements may each be secured to one of the cover panels. Abstract: A folder that provides an improvement in protection of papers in an easier and handier way, having slots, which are located in any of its backs, either in the corners or in any part of the edges, these slots allow us to hold documents in all the corners, locking the folder this way. This feature allows us to eliminate mechanisms and additional objects that perform these functions, so we obtain a simple and useful folder that prevents papers from falling or coming out, since it is vital to protect papers.

Abstract: A system for a 3-D tab for a folder, a retrofit for existing folders to have a 3-D tab and a method of making same is disclosed. The 3-D tab is created by an extension or attachable element which can be folded onto itself so that one edge surface is at an angle relative to the panels of the file folder allowing it to be read from the side. This also aids in allowing the tab to be fed through a printer.

Abstract: A file folder includes a rail member fixed to the connection portion of the file folder and the rail member includes a plurality of ribs extending from a surface thereof so as to define grooves between the ribs. The grooves communicate with openings in a top end and a lower end of the rail member. Each rib has a head on a distal end thereof and the head is wider than a width of the rib so as to form a narrow entrance corresponding to each groove. A holding unit has an elongate insertion which includes an enlarged ridge on a side thereof so as to be slidably inserted into the grooves via the openings and the insertion is sized to be slidably engaged with the narrow entrance. Document is positioned or collected by the holding unit.

Abstract: An expandable file folder with a closable pocket has a body, two accordion sides, multiple partitions and at least one closable pocket. A chamber is formed in the body between the accordion sides. The closable pocket is mounted in the chamber and each closable pocket has a front panel a rear panel and a fastener. The front panel is mounted on the rear panel by bonding along sides of the front and rear panels. The fastener is attached to the front and rear panels to selectively close the pocket and may be a resealable zipper, a leaf with a button, hook and loop fasteners or the like. Therefore, the closable pocket may be used conveniently to store non-paper items such as stationary, name cards or the like.

The rigid bottom piece is uniquely affixed with a hinge attachment and is useful in creating a stable file folder that maintains its shape when filled with documents, items, or other materials.

There is a single groove or a plurality of grooves. So, several bridging file folders can be accommodated into the main body, presenting simple assembly and improved convenience for independent application.

Abstract: The specification discloses a method for making a paper material having a reduced tendency to cut human skin. The method includes providing a papermaking furnish containing cellulosic fibers and from about 0.5 to about 5.0 wt % by weight dry basis expandable microspheres, forming a paperboard web from the papermaking furnish, drying the web, and calendaring the web to a caliper of from about 11.0 to about 18.0 mils and a density ranging from about 7.0 to about 12.0 lb/3000 ft2/mil. Papers formed according to the method and articles formed therefrom are also disclosed.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a binder envelope, configured so that bands made of a transparent or opaque material are attached to a surface of the envelope, thus holding papers. According to this invention, bands having a predetermined width are horizontally attached to a surface of the envelope. Upper and lower horizontal bands (10, 10?) are attached to upper and lower portions of the envelope, respectively. When the upper horizontal band is attached to the surface of the envelope, left and right attachment lines (11, 12) are vertically formed on left and right side edges of the upper horizontal band through a thermal adhesion method. Further, left and right attachment lines (H?, 12?) are formed on left and right side edges of the lower horizontal band, and a lower attachment line (13?) is formed on a lower edge of the lower horizontal band through a thermal adhesion method.
