  • Patent number: 10296911
Abstract: Provided herein are techniques for rescuing a commercial transaction identified as suspect, possibly based on suspicion of fraud or due to the risk associated with the commercial transaction. Various implementations include systems and methods that can rescue a purchase transaction involving a purchasing party (hereafter, a “purchaser”) and a selling party (hereafter, a merchant”). The item or items being purchased in the purchase transaction can include goods, a services, or property interests (e.g., real, intellectual, or otherwise). Particular implementations can facilitate the rescuing of a purchase transaction that has been declined, canceled or suspended (e.g., pending further review) by an involved party (e.g., the selling party) based on that party's concern (e.g., fraud or high risk) with respect to the purchase transaction.

  • Patent number: 10296918
Abstract: A computer-implemented technique provides a compromised payment card risk assessment. The technique involves gathering, by processing circuitry, compromised payment card data. The technique further involves identifying, by the processing circuitry, a set of compromised payment cards from the compromised payment card data. The technique further involves providing, in response to identifying the set of compromised payment cards and by the processing circuitry, a compromised payment card assessment report which includes a set of payment card entries corresponding to the set of compromised payment cards. Each payment card entry includes (i) identification data which identifies a respective compromised payment card and (ii) a score which indicates an estimated likelihood that the respective compromised payment card will actually be used for fraud. Such scores may be based on summations of different sub-scores and serve as overall numerical measures of risk.

  • Patent number: 10297094
Abstract: Access by a requesting entity to an asset is authorized by an access-controlling entity, which transmits to the requesting entity a challenge data set and then receives from the requesting entity a response purportedly corresponding to a representation of the challenge data set in a non-repudiatable form, obtained from an event validation system. The access-controlling entity queries the event validation system to determine whether the response does correspond to a correct representation of the challenge data set in the non-repudiatable form, and authorizes the requesting entity for access only if the response is correct representation. Non-repudiation can be established through entry into a blockchain, or using a hash-tree-based digital signature infrastructure.

  • Patent number: 10239630
Abstract: A system ensures the correct type of fuel is dispensed in an aircraft while removing the introduction of human error in the refueling process. The system includes an RFID tag disposed at one or more aircraft that electronically stores data such as engine type, engine hours, fuel type, tail number, and pilot/subscriber data for the aircraft on which the RFID tag is disposed. An RFID reader is disposed at or near a fuel dispensing mechanism, such as a fuel truck or tank. A signal indicative of fuel type is emitted from the RFID tag to the RFID reader. RFID tags on aircraft that are enrolled in the system's subscription service enable aircraft to be recognized by a module operating the fuel dispensing mechanism. Based on a comparison performed by the module, authorization to begin fueling is either permitted or declined.
